Kasparov explains how emotions are a part of your decision making process, but the title suggests you should control them. Unless the uploader is using Kasparov as an example of what should not be done when playing chess (which is improbable), the title doesn't make much sense.
@Thelavendel easy to say, but in reality it's very hard to control emotions on a chess match specially playing a bad position, i think it's the essence of life itself, and also may apply to chess
@Novantii "Fischer forever" is OK, but call him commie is a plain wrong statement since he was sort of THE enemy of the system when he was fighting Karpov for the crown. But I know what you meant...just doon´t take every russian for a commie rat :-)
In one sense Kasparov was never able to control his emotions but thats why he was at the top , he gave all his energy to be at the top . Many opponents never liked him as an opponent . Anyway as a player and nowdays as person I respect Kasparov
This is totally true, emotions do NOT get in the way of your logic like someone's comment was. In fact, kasparov is right, for most people, EMOTIONS ALWAYS ARE VITAL AND IMPORTANT FOR LOGIC AND DECISION MAKING!!! There's been more than eighteen studies on it this year, and 100% of them came out with the results that emotions help your logic by about 200% for the average person.
@Tryggvessalladsbar : Agreed. The current title is quite misleading, in fact at first I was surprised that Kasparov would say such a thing. Control and observation are two completely different things, especially when it comes to emptions (which reminds me of the Vipassana Buddhist meditation).
@HSMAmericas thanks for sharing but please change that title.
Emotions are a vital part of your decision making??? What the fuck??? NO WAY DUDE. Emotions get into the way of your LOGIC, and they can make you do a bad move that isn't logical. This guy does not act like a grandmaster chess player...his words prove that to be true.
@VitalSigns1 What he says is true, emotions play an important factor in our decision making, whether you realise it or not. He's not stating you should let yourself be controlled by them. He's talking more in general, like Judit Polgar said, ~35% of chess is psychology (a vantage we have over computers BTW). Preparing for a game means staying calm and recollected, confident in yourself and even physically fit. To be whole & win, you should be aware of everything in your system.

I read of some psychology experiments on people whose emotions were muted due to brain injury. They found that even the simplest decisions we take for granted every moment, such as who to go to lunch with, whether to watch TV now, or what book to pick up, were very tough for them. Everything felt like a tie. Emotions provide the tie-breakers, in effect, by stamping somethings with approval more than others.
Yeah... I'm particularly impressed by how Kasparov can be so calm and collected, regardless of how much pressure he may be under. Truly a master. - George
Many people misuse this knowledge when they are evil and of low IQ especially and they are of low IQ so will never reach status to play with camera to keep good manners. I understood some people as attackers on me and nobody did something with it in chess, only they put me from chess club. They were evil and also put me from chess club. Greetings! Hardly to play with completely possesed people.
I believe to control emotions is practice of each good chessplayer and is important for many areas of life, i.e. many jobs to practice this from chess into it. So I am not member of club as they were knowing this they cried to my ears loudly, despised me and so on.

A better title would be, "Why you should consider your emotions - Garry Kasparov". Good film otherwise.
