@shum65 yeah, my friend did me a copy of this the other day, due to her disbelief that i hadnt heard the cocteau twins before. Rest assured, this record has completely converted me:)
MERCI GRACIAS THANK'S!!!!!! Her aura supposed he is For all of them home alone And the soul, sleeps for days The hollow place, slow See him, so that if I’m lost The hollow place Slow See him So that if I’m last All, stake, stuck, stake And I’m stuck Balk
Maybe the darkest and one of the best. If you like Will Heggie's bass playing (as heard here and on all of Garlands) check out his brilliant band Lowlife.
This album always fits when I'm in a particular mood. It's colorful darkness reaches depths and heights like no other. I feel drunk with it's amazing sound each and every time. Thanks for posting this one brother. My brother got to see them first at The Palace in Hollywood back in 85'. I've seen them like 7 times. Thanks for posting this brotherman.
Hi mate...I love what your saying, I can tell you have a passion for the music....I really like the bit about feeling drunk with its truly amazing sound...thats so true,,,and thats right about being in a particular mood to listen this classic album... I,m glad you enjoyed this track my friend, its good to hear from you, and so cool to have seen the band 7 times...!!! Will Heggie the bassist here is a top guy, Hi to his kids if their watching..!!! Cheers mate..!!
I just have to comment on this one too..sorry...but it's true..there are a bit of Pete Hook in this song....there are also a trace of Siouxie and the banshees I think...not to be taken as a negative thing..SATB were brilliant. Can't match the twins tho. A funny quote before I leave.. Pete Hook once said "There are only two ways to play the guitar: Under your chin like a puff or under your bollocks like a man" *lol*..we all know Hook's a man then right! :-)...
I also love this album very much...heavenly dark and the bass reminds me of my other favorite band Joy Division...the dark/gothic sound of Peter Hook's bass.
shum ur a treasure to CT fans for creating these beautiful vids!
in the early 90's i was in a cd store in lower manhatan, new york city , and the store was playing the garland album, i told the man, let me that that album, im in love with this album till this day.
this! And those echoed whispers near the end of the song - so wonderfully eerie. My little Brother never could stand the Twins, but liked this song for those pants and whispers, which he said sounded like the creepy calls you can hear in parts of the early-80's horror flick "Friday the 13th" I was almost forced to watch that move late one night recently (looking away from the screen mostly) but did hear those echoes in it, so I guess he had a bit of a point, all those years ago.
Garlands is my favorite Cocteau twins album and this track is still one my favorites ever. This LP showed us what Goth could have been. Thanks for posting.
I remember when i got this album the first time,i was still wearing black eyeliner black lipstick
and black nail polish, god those where the days.

have to admit the first time i heard of the title 'Garlands' thought the
33 was going to be a homage to Liza Minneli and her mum Judy.
it was a pleasant surprise to find it diametrically opposed to this though.
the hollow men? isn't that by T.S.Eliot? think there's a copy in the old
walnut library. i'll just have a sneek. tickety boo!
flaxlawna 2 weeks ago
@flaxlawna I know Liza And Judy it aint haha, glad you were
pleasantly surprised on hearing this early track and album,
Its still my fave LP of theirs, love its darkness & rawness :)
Sorry no idea if the title is connected with the T.S.Eliot title ?

I love how dark and encompassing Garlands is. Every song is so hauntingly beautiful!!!!
The Hollow Men, But I'm Not and Garlands are the top 3 for me on this album.
eccentricblonde 2 years ago
Hi mate,your right.."Garlands" is in a world
of its own making, dark and atmospheric
and definitely haunting..I love all of the
tracks, but my fave is "Blind Dumb Deaf"
that churning repetition of the guitar, along
with the cold hitting drum beat, and Liz's
awesome vocals...music heaven...
Cheers mate...good to hear from ya...!!
