I remember when i got this album the first time,i was still wearing black eyeliner black lipstick

and black nail polish,god those where the days.

have to admit the first time i heard of the title 'Garlands' thought the

33 was going to be a homage to Liza Minneli and her mum Judy.

it was a pleasant surprise to find it diametrically opposed to this though.

the hollow men? isn't that by T.S.Eliot? think there's a copy in the old

walnut library. i'll just have a sneek. tickety boo!

Its still my fave LP of theirs, love its darkness & rawness :)

surprisingly, downbeat cocteau songs are as rare as a cloud in a

heatwave sky. i'm one of the hollow-ones though, so this one in

anorexiaambient to me.

My first true musical love.

This album always fits when I'm in a particular mood. It's colorful darkness reaches depths and heights like no other. I feel drunk with it's amazing sound each and every time. Thanks for posting this one brother. My brother got to see them first at The Palace in Hollywood back in 85'. I've seen them like 7 times. Thanks for posting this brotherman.

I just have to comment on this one too..sorry...but it's true..there are a bit of Pete Hook in this song....there are also a trace of Siouxie and the banshees I think...not to be taken as a negative thing..SATB were brilliant.Can't match the twins tho. A funny quote before I leave.. Pete Hook once said "There are only two ways to play the guitar: Under your chin like a puff or under your bollocks like a man" *lol*..we all know Hook's a man then right! :-)...

I also love this album very much...heavenly dark and the bass reminds me of my other favorite band Joy Division...the dark/gothic sound of Peter Hook's bass.

this! And those echoed whispers near the end of the song - so wonderfully eerie. My little Brother never could stand the Twins, but liked this song for those pants and whispers, which he said sounded like the creepy calls you can hear in parts of the early-80's horror flick "Friday the 13th" I was almost forced to watch that move late one night recently (looking away from the screen mostly) but did hear those echoes in it, so I guess he had a bit of a point, all those years ago.
