My best friend cried to me the other day because her kids are growing so fast. When you think of your own childhood it seems to go on forever, but when you're watching kids grow it's the opposite. I'm sure there are a lot of moms watching this video. But when I watch the video I think of my 8 year old sister. She's my sunshine and joy. Life has been really hard on us both, and it's really hard to protect her from pain. I don't want her to be disappointed in me as her older sister. I'll give up my happiness for her. You'll continue being a kid until one day when you wake up and realize that all along, you've slowly been gaining independence. I hadn't heard this song for years and there it was tonight on Mamma Mia - the first few bars sent me back in time to playing with my toys on the carpet, my mum, who's since passed away, wandering around doing chores and watching us children play. It made me think of her, and tears were suddenly trickling down my face. Such a sad, beautiful song.

This song reminds me of my class at school - next year is our last at school and a considerable portion are not coming back, particularly girls who have been there since primary 1, of which I am one. We finished on friday and though I am coming back next year, we were all in tears as the twelve years had passed so quickly.
