I'm currently my Units Armorer, US Army Active Duty 10th MTN DIV.
I can appreciate this video, we currently have a Browning .50 CAL Machine Gun that was made in 1943 by the Maytag Washing Machine Co, it is still in use, and has seen service since WW2.
One of the Boys' drawbacks was that it was assembled with tight-fitting, soft steel screws which broke easily and made it difficult for armorers to repair.
Despite this only being an instruction video for cleaning and firing a rifle that is no longer used, I find it to be quite entertaining, especially for something made by Disney.
It Didnt do so well because of its rather small ammunition! on the eastern front the Russians are using the PTRD's and PTRS's to Great effect in immobilizing tanks by shooting through their weak spots.
if you were to ambush a column with this, the only way to kill any of the heavier tanks was wait for them to pass. iE. you let them breach your lines and then swipe them up the ass
And if my missus saw the end portion of the video, i believe she would see a direct parrallel between me and the little canadian chap that wants "relations" with his anti tank rifle..... i know how he feels, i like mine alot
great video. I have A mk1 boys ATR. Its a pleasure to shoot and a historically significant piece. A very accurate weapon also. The German equivelant was a wooden stocked pumped up Mauser. Truly a big gun that would bash you with recoil.
Poor weapon in it's intended role, but ironically, very far ahead of its time had it been used in the counter sniper or anti-materiel roles. Which it wasn't officially. Although both the USMC and the Canadian Forces used it great effect as such on documented occasions.
the best kill with one of these things ive heard of is where an australian gunner took out a panzer IV by shooting its undersides as it came over a rise
this may look stupid today but in 1939 was high tech way of teaching a lot of people how to handle the gun. but i dont think it was ever actually very usefull because it could not handle the thickness of any of the axis tanks. only maybe halftrucks and italian light tanks
Anti-tank rifles are back today. One exemple is Barrett .50.Boys rifle was weak agaisnt german tank, after 1942.Against japanese tanks, it was usefull even in 1945.
lol foxtrot, anti-tank rifles were obsolete even 50 years ago. They don't penetrate any armor thicker than about 2cm :) Don't think these things are useful today. Might work to stop light vehicles when you shoot em in the engine , a poor man's Barrett .50cal
Anti-Tank rifles maybe, but we still use High-Caliber Rifles as Sniper and Anti-Material rifles...Your optimisim is impressive if you think this can take out a modern tank! XD
Why doesn't Remington or HK do videos like this?! They're informative and interesting.
