@rkshirey Absolutely. He points out that you can get at least 100 uses out of the mini broad head darts. With the bamboo darts you might not get as many uses. You can increase the life of the darts by using a foam target. I have been shooting homemade bamboo darts against a cardboard box. The tips have blunted a little, but the darts sill work great after several shots. I should be able to get many more shots with these darts. If the tip gets dull enough, you can sharpen the tip with a knife.

you can make your oun bamboo darts by using wooden skewers & with super glue. Take A peace of paper shape it in to A cone coat with glue cut the cone to the size of your bore then cut the tip of so the skewer slides in glue coat the whole cone the coat the tip of the skewer now you have A water proof hunting dart>

Yes, and you can also secure x acto tips into the end of the skewer with super glue and button thread " sewing string". They are relatively easy to make. I will try to make a video on this soon so look me up.

Cheers for pointing out the importance of humane shots. I come across all manor of wildlife with darts sticking out of their legs and what not, and it just sickens me.

I live in Australia, and I see kangaroos with these little hunting darts in their thigh; it makes you think:

"What were they thinking?!"

If the darts slide out when the shaft of the blowgun is tilted downward, then how do you shoot at small game which is no more than 1 foot off the ground. How could the guy mentioned in this video shoot at something small like a bullfrog? He would have to point the blowgun almost straight down? Wouldn't the dart slide out?

Couple of things;

The purpose of a projectile weapon is to give you the ability to reach out and hit a target at a distance in which you normally would have to be at a contact distance to hit. If a bullfrog is only a foot away I'd recommend you back up to give it a chance, otherwise just use the blowgun as a stick.

Another thing you should consider is your ability to control the position in which you can fire from. Such as: standing, kneeling, prone, crouch, etc.

@triage911 good question! There is a way to avoid the problem: insert a piece of rubber band in between the mouth piece and the first inch of the barrel just to prevent your dart from sliding down. In my opinion I don't understand why these darts should be so loose in the barrel. I would prefer having the darts being snug in there just enough to run without blowing like crazy! Somebody told me that the cones expand in the barrel...to me sounds just like a lot of BS!
