im thinking of attempting my own FOWLR aquarium, could some explain ( because of all the different opinions) wether or not i NEED a seperate filter other than using plently of live rock with a lot of water movement?! and also if you were to add corals to this tank would it simply be a case of increasing the lighting? thanks
about ur aggressive reef... have caution with the trigger... ive heard of people doing that and the eel attacked the trigger and the trigger fought back. not to discourage you... it will be awesome when you do get it figured out!!!!
All fish are being sold and I will be upgrading the lights, adding corals, and converting this tank to an Aggressive Reef with my Dragon Moray and a Clown Tang......stay tuned.......
@95thHarley dragon moray? holy crap aren't those in the thousands of dollars for one over like 8 inches? .. its worth it thought they are amazing looking and I could if I would. But! I heard they are terrible with reefs. They knock things over and kill coral for no reason as well as kill fish for no reason. They kill things even if they are too large to eat, they are just bored? So be careful. Anyways good luck!
@95thHarley I have a 240 gallon tank I am reluctant to set up on my first floor due to the weight, approximately 3000 lbs. I built the house with 2x12 first floor joists, the tank will be set against a bearing wall perpendicular to the joists spanning 6 joists. Tank dimensions are 8'x2'x2'. The bearing wall is directly above an 8"x32' I-beam with 3 lally columns spaced evenly supporting it. The 2x12 joists span 15' bearing wall to I-beam. Question; Will my floor support the tank ?
I am setting up a 180 gallon fowlr and really like looks of the lighting that you use. What kind of lights do you use and what color temperature are they? Thanks
