RUSH just shows you what is wrong with a lot of music today. No overproduced studio sounds, vocalizers or sampled crap. Just 3 solid musicians who create and play great music no matter where they are. A dying art.
In the 1994 video you needed 4 brains to play this on the drums. In 2004 you need 8. Peart managed to make it even more dificult... triggering those sounds with his left foot.. I GIVE UP! LOL
Hey guys check out our band Panacea. We are heavily influenced by Rush. Please subscribe and we take all friend requests. We already have a few videos out there.
Rush= FREAKING AMAZING, i dont know any band better than these guys. i love them all so much, Amazing music, Amazing lyrics, Amazing Voice. Freaking amazing Drums and Bass lines. and Freaking amazing guitar riffs, cords, etc.. Rush Forever!
Probably, he appears a little agitated by what ever it was. I would guess that even that he is a talented multi-instrumentalist, shit can go wrong and he needs to get his concentration back.
@RollTheFemers I think you might be right cos Neil is really the predominant instrument here. In an earlier interview Geddy actually said Neil is the loudest. That said, the mixing must still be accurate.Neil shouldnt be too loud!! CHEERS!
Rush never ceases to amaze me! These guys kick royal ass. Pisses me off I have never seen them live. Everytime they came around I could never get to see them. If I have to fly across the country, I will see them before they stop touring.
saw these guys live at the San Antonio Coleseum in 1990.A brilliant show by 3 of the most intelligent and talented musicians the genre has to offer...
Signaling his roadie to turn down the drums in his monitor. Funny enough, someone asked the same question of the Natural Science 1996 video that was just posted. Geddy taps his head and points up meaning, "Turn up my vocals."
i know, right? right in beat with those hipnotic drums. almost, in an obscure kinda way, reminiscent to what he does at that part in the actual music video.
i like this version. the Geddy Lee Fender adds some crunch to the song. although the chorus is not as full as the origional song. seems kinda bare. great song none the less!! my fave from their synth driven era.
I love everything out of the synth era. Signals, P/G, Power Windows and Hold Your Fire are their best works in my opinion. The complexity of the songs, especially on HYF, has always amazed me.
i truly love their synth stuff as well. i'm not sure if it's my faveorite era (it's so hard to choose!!!) but everything they've done is amazing. as a bassist i am always awestruck when it comes to geddy's playing. HYF has some of his most challanging works on it. force ten and turn the page tend to make my fingers spontaneously combust when trying to play. and the fact that he sings AND plays synth/pedals at the same time is beyond amazing.
Neil Peart - the best lyricist EVER. not bad on the drums either!

OR, @ 1:54 is Ged signaling to lower ALEX in the mix? ...He does point in Alex' direction.
kelvisparsley64 10 months ago
@kelvisparsley64 Just in his own monitor I'd say, not the mix the audience hears.

I think someone said on here that he's signalling for the techs to lower the drum volume on his in-ear monitor.

Gotta love how he does it in time with the song, as if it were completely normal.

Geddy probably didn't enjoy this as much because he's stuck behind the keyboard the whole song
