First off, humans aren't getting tortured, they put themselves in the situations that CAUSE them to get tortured so it's THEIR fault.

Secondly, there are things called Animal Rights, therefor, they need to be put into effect. Abusing animals is wrong, yes. Killing animals, I believe, in factories is wrong and so is hunting animals just to compare the size of the game is wrong. Now if you're going to go hunting for food, that's okay, you're not doing it for a game.

You should read up on the theory of evolution and the brain. Non-human animals have consciousness. They have conscious thoughts, they just don't have as much abstract capabalities like us. I'd recommend Reading Richard Dawkins' book "the ancestor's tale" it's quite enlightening as too how we see speacies.
