Considering the fact that it took a single soldier atleast a minute to fire two shots, it was the best way to fight a war. If they had fought the way we do today, in loose formations and small groups, firing whenever they pleased, they would have been very vulnerable to cavalry, and their fire wouldn't have been nearly as shocking.

@symsfirehose yep each person is an individual player, but between the general and the infantry there're the regiments commanders, the captains, that are the ones that give orders to the regiments, each regiment has his own channel in a ts3 server. The general usually tells every captain what to do like conquest that hill, charge the enemy artillery, protect the left side and such. Each team is compossed of 8 to 12 regiments depending on how big the regiments are.
