  • what they don't say is that with schools on a limited budget they won't be able to afford a $500 web browser for every student when netbooks are selling for half that

  • @HarryPotterFan134 I just checked. The Acer WiFi-only Chromebook is available for $300 on Amazon.

  • so you get a freee chromebook and keep it, if you go to school?

  • Now if only these were cheaper.... If Chromebooks were sold for $200 - $300, I would actually consider buying and owning what is essentially a glorified web browser of an OS, but to say the least at least it's fast, which is very important in a school environment

  • @JusticeFreedomDestin The Acer WiFi-only Chromebook is available for $300 from Amazon - just checked before posting this comment to be sure. :)

  • @rml695 that isnt brand new though, and why would a school want to lock itself down to web apps which will probably be blocked by the school's proxy anyway? what happens when people are used to word and powerpoint and have to make do with the rubbish google version?

chromebooks can't even print without a pc to connect to for gods sake!

  • @HarryPotterFan134 Well there are some schools that have already take non these systems and we'll just have to see how it works out.

  • Ahhh... remeber the good old days, when Google was only a search engine?

  • There must be an app so that the teacher looks thinks you are doing work, while u play games...

  • It managers can block stuff? HAX!

  • LOL Macs

  • The benefit of having my own laptop: PRIVACY.

  • wdf grade 4 and 5 students need laptops!!? omg kids these days.

  • 28 people use Firefox

  • @RCT2Man 72 People use Google Chrome.

  • I wish time could speed up so google can just take control of the world

  • grunt birthday party, nuff said

    Ron Paul 2012

  • 7th grade. 5th grade 4th grade.... Somethings wrong...

  • Rather have an iPad for education.

  • @thekeyring i agree

  • @dmajsj me too

  • the real question is can it watch Rebecca Black?

  • NO MORE EXCUSES FOR NO HOMEWORK?!!?!?? DAFUQ IS WRONG WITH YOU GOOGLE??!?!?

  • So if im sick I'll have to start my chromebook and learn there...*BLEEP*

  • Very good commercial, but I tried the chrome book and i have to say... its shit.

  • As innovative as this setup is, this will only go good for library computers as well as any setup that only needs web and word processing use. there's no factor for those schools that feature Digital Art classes, Photography & Video Media. This is a great idea, but the most that can be done in today's schools would be part Chromebook and part PC/Mac. And of course we as a Mac school have slow login times, horrid restrictions and other problems. They could use Chromebooks if they had the tools.

  • My High School needs programs to run. Without Photoshop, graphing programs, and typing software the chromebook would never be put in my school. Besides we are fine with Windows 7 laptops and Smart Boards.

  • My school seems like it wants to keep their POS Dells.

  • our schools computers have 10 hour batteries

  • Intel ivy bridge processors

  • ultrabook

  • OR You could buy a MacBookPRO.

  • @BoneyHead959 for an entire school district? You gona pay for that? that's a bad question if you're a taxpayer...

  • so this cuts school supplies, books, paper, admin time, wow... amazing. I bet there's a grading app for term papers to help teachers...

  • If damaging a textbook already costs you 80$, imagine if you damaged one of these.

  • pause at 0:55 and look there`s no 6th grade. whats with school economics these days

  • @yoyojamapprentice it's descending :P 6th,5th,4th,3rd,2nd,1st

  • my school would never buy us all a chromebook, the stingy bastards

  • I'm sorry, but the dog deleted my Google-Account so I just have no homework.

  • So essentially, almost everything here is available in a macbook.

  • @TheSchweetGal But for 1/4 the price! Macbooks are great but there is no way schools could afford them.

  • @TheSchweetGal yes and no. No data is stored on the chrome book. Apps, files and documents are all stored online. So you can access it from any computer or device with internet access and in class they can access it on their chrome book. Think Ipad/notebook. Sense all the apps are online there are no updates or install disks. Each unit only cost $299 retail. I am sure Google sells them for 50% or less to educators with the IT training and support.

  • Google anti-virus--_--

  • I wish school ended at 3:00!

  • YES PLEASE.

  • But updating hardware is the best part of being an IT manager.

  • (In Math Class): Opens Facebook. ERROR SITE BLOCKED. PUTS IN EASY PASSWORD. PERMISSION GRANTED!

  • You know there's gonna be one kid that will break in a rage and the Chromebook is banned from school.

  • PURE EVIL THATS IT

  • TEACHER CAN WATCH MY CHROMEBOOK?!?!? Shit, that means no porn during a boring lesson

  • @JanciJMJ INCOGNITO MODE!!!

  • 1:07 Isn't that the collecting sound from Wind Waker? :D

  • Chromebooks are the pinnacle of cloud computing done right. Just remember that there's a reason google wants you to store all your personal data on their servers ;P

But If you're fine with that, then I'd imagine it's a great thing to have.

  • Great, but for education: only 100% open source software, on the personal computer *and* the servers. Another point, is the battery life cycle, what will it be with students connected to wifi/4g almost all day long?

  • Oh jesus...Google will take over the world one day.

  • @mikeallensonntag

yep, it's kinda like Umbrella Corporation (from Resident Evil, if you know it)

  • @mikeallensonntag thats good right?

  • @12345woohooz yes

  • @12345woohooz yes

  • not to mention there's no Microsoft Word.

  • I wish my school had gotten these instead of the shitty Dell netbooks that barely work.

  • That's so fucking cool you can:

    1. Update your facebook

    2. Watch porn

    3. And play angry birds

    All at the same time!!!!!

  • i lic it

  • The only question I have is: How do I edit video and upload it to youtube?

  • @qwertyfshag you can't.

  • the question is: Will it blend?

  • @AlexMODification yes it will :P

  • The thing is, the more computers are used in school, instead of texts and writing (note--real writing, that is--not merely printing which slows down and filters students' thoughts too much) the dumber the kids are when they 'graduate'. They know nothing, but Friedmanical economics and other BS. Even my generation knows less than the ones before them, and so on, back until 1900. People today are too easily brainwashed and manipulated by the corporate media. They've become mindless consumers.

  • Raspberry Pi.

    That is all.

  • search info about chromebook from a chromebook!

  • If our schools got laptops to take home and use at school, I wouldn't be missing any assignments or failing any classes. lol

  • 0:08 "...and keep students focused" I don't think so...

  • my school gets apple macbook airs :)

    Screw this Chromebook ShiT!!!! :)

  • sounds perfect right?

no, students will be almost 3 times as much work as before, and you have no excuses for not being able to do it

also, there is no privacy, whatsoever, so administrators can spy on their students whenever they want

these things will be the cause of so many more suicides, just watch

  • @TheRealSpellstar You're in school, you shouldn't be doing something that is not allowed in school. Also, you shouldn't be missing your assignments, they're a part of your education.

By the way, why would it cause suicides?

  • @Crafter2180

stress, too much schoolwork is the cause of many suicides

and with both the increase in work and the impossibility to not get it done, well, you just put that together

  • :D

  • Say what! Replace the Chromebooks for schools after 3 YEARS!!! I wish my school's computers had been updated in 3 years.....

  • @lhtkid computers, tv etc can't cause permanent eye damage, it's only a myth

  • @lhtkid, @blehe38 Small correction - TODAY's TVs, laptops, etc don't cause permanent eye damage. The ones from back in the 1970's & 80's could.

  • AND MY SCHOOL STILL USES FUCKING WINDOWS XP

  • but will it blend?

  • If you’re considering Chromebooks but need access to Windows apps, look at Ericom AccessNow, an HTML5 RDP client that enables Chromebook users to connect to any RDP host, including Terminal Server, physical desktops or VDI virtual desktops – and run their applications & desktops in an HTML5 compatible browser.

AccessNow doesn’t require Java, Flash, Silverlight, ActiveX, or anything else to be installed on end-user devices.

Ericom has special deals for education customers.

    I’m with Ericom

  • lil fucker be watchin porn in a tree

  • Them thar computers will run us all and turn our kids against us!!! Run for the hills, its evil I tellz ya EVEEEL!!!

  • If you notice, on 0:52 there´s a Apple PC

  • so what if students are going on facebook in class? did they mention something about that?

  • "So there are no more excuses for missing or incomplete homework."

    Evil. Pure evil.

  • @anasrahman here's an excuse. 'i dropped my chromebook in the toilet'

  • @inspectertaz then login to this one and get back everything on your old one in two clicks

  • @anasrahman ya you can. say "i forgot my chrome book at home"

  • @anasrahman What about that?

"I accidentaly backed up my chromebook too much."

  • great style

  • Mm, as much as I love google, I don't want everyone to end up wearing glasses...

  • It's over 400 Qaida worth of net book and u can only use it for chrome

Just buy a crap pc and put chrome on it

    Simple as

  • So it's better for teachers, but worse for students...

    I am a student.

Don't give me a chromebook for christmas!

  • ty ty well i prefer a desktop more so no thanks ;D;D;D;D stupid 4th grate retarded kids

  • This does seam like a good laptop for school. But I would not want it personally.

  • I like the part were the guy throws wrenches at chromebooks.

  • as if my shitty school can afford chromebooks

  • Hey why doesn't MY school have this!?

    OH WAIT!

Because their lazy, stupid, but most of all, broke, because they spend it on RETARDED THINGS!!!

  • Why won't our school do this!?! We almost never have any working network servers, and we are not allowed to save to the C drive. So we have to keep the machines until the network servers finally decide they want to come up again, and don't even get me started on actually printing something...

  • Using the stopwatch of my Casio calculator watch and my Samsung Series 5 Chromebook (plugged in) with a 25+ Mbps connection from Shaw Communications. All times start from one New Tab open and end until all flickering and loading completed. I am logged into associated accounts:

    5.46 secs YouTube

    15.5 secs Google News

    14.12 secs Google+

    6.7 secs Facebook

    2.6 secs Google.com

4 secs search of "chromebook" from omnibox

1 sec open New Tab (making two open)

    12.25 secs Gmail

    Google FAILbook

  • Well people in few school has i-pad or i-pod touch as to teach but Chromebook is OK for schools.

  • i want this for my school.

  • 0:55 Where's 6th grade? LOL

  • @soleilprincess You can pass 6th grade from home on chromebook :D.

  • Damn, i wish my school had chromebooks instead of dells

  • What the hell is everyone going on about spell this right!! and thats a sentence fragment!! and bad grammer!!! THIS IS NOT A SCHOOL. ITS YOUTUBE.

  • double slash... I've not seen that before

  • sorry if i wrote incorrect i know more to talk then to write

  • you only insert the data what it must do so conclusion is you arent learning much you are just making data banks....

  • there is a problem i don't really study is just the computer doing all the work i just watch a screen and use the keyboard and mouse once at 3-4 hours and listen videos :( really man and + its not good to stay with your eyes in the screen 8 hours straight.

and there is another thing hand writhing and reading in same time helps you learn faster because it remains in your head what u do in class and its not good to use it at math is just the computer making calculations you only ...

  • I think chrome books are more suitable for classrooms than for other purposes! Normal computers are full of distractions including gaming, viruses bla bla bla!!

  • @punkvijay224

    I agree!!

  • And after three years of using Chromebooks for education they all buyed glasess ^_^

  • the teacher writes funny.

  • Wait a minute, what kind of school uses computers for math in Trig at 0:17 lol.

  • wow im using google chrome right now

  • the question is: Can it download porn?

  • @lilbesho Chromebooks for adults

  • @lilbesho

    Nononono. The question is:

    Can it download PONIES?

  • @lilbesho why is that a question? its a sin

  • @lilbesho no, but can watch with ease ;)

  • WHY THE HELL DOSENT MY SCHOOL GET THIS SHIT?

    it looks perfect to me...

  • i like how the top comments are by the same guy and they are both about grammar

  • press 6, don't blame me!

  • @AwsmUsername, molesting time, what kind of sorcery is this?! :O

  • Comment removed

  • @clickwir why does that bother you? google data won't go outside countries which meet EU privacy requirements

  • nahh.. I'm a mac..

  • Everyone in IT wants this. We want google to be the hub. But Google can't guarantee that all data will stay within US borders. Therefore we have to find someone else. Damnit, these Chromebooks would be perfect for so many uses all over campus.

  • 0:27 Unfortunately, if you add just one more tab, Chromebook essentially crashes, so enjoy a 4 tab-maximum existence.

  • Berkmar should get these.

  • If I'm the school principals, I will buy laptops for me, the teacher and the students XD

  • Where is the troll?

  • im sure the creater of south park made this

  • OK class...now insert you CD into...oh..err...no CD drive...OK, just open up M$ word and...oh...yeah...not supported right? Well just save your work to your desktop...what no desktop! Oh for Fu!k Sake!

  • My school is too 'expensive' for this, they would rather buy I Macs for every class rather than this. Wait teachers can see what I do? o.o

  • Comment removed

  • i could easily duel boot windows or linux on this...

  • Will I be able to use Firefox on this thing? ;3

  • chromebooks would be terrible if they have no internet.

  • since the chrome books need internet to function they would all compete for the bandwidth and be really slow

  • @TheMsdos25 they just said 3g too

  • When my scholl actually did that everyone saw porn during classes it was pretty funny

  • so does that mean if i dislike this I'm screwed?

  • Chromebooks: :D

    Crappy Windows XP: D:

Guess what we have in our school...

  • If i hade one of these, I would leave it in my locker before i go home because.

    1:they control what you do

2:Chances are Youtube, steam, and facebook would be blocked by my school so i wouldn't be able to use it how i want.

3:The hardware in this laptop (video cards and processors) is probably shit

4:Why would some one stop there original cirriculum just to digitalize it?

(iam not a troll iam just negative)

  • @Destruidor155 Why are schools so hesitant about going modern?

  • Faster, easier access to the internet now keeps students MORE focused? I don't know where you're from, but here faster and easier internet usually means more facebook, reddit, and other wastes of time, not homework

  • @mikeymoose93 , I think teachers would somehow find a way of blocking sites:L

  • @walfus10 my teachers did that in high school, but we found ways around it

  • @walfus10 utangle or dans guard servers they go between the internet and pc and blocks everything the it department doesn't like

  • We already have MacBooks in Maine. :)

  • in trinidad, when we enter secondary school we get a free laptop.

  • now only if my ipod will get songs on it

  • My college needs to know about this!! ASAP!

  • @MurderMauu - group policies (controlling what you can and cannot do) in a Microsoft network are only available for Internet Explorer. Just about all IT departments are going to use IE because of this. I'm sure most IT guys would rather have everyone use FireFox/Chrome, but for ease of administration they're forced to use IE.

  • 1:10 So, they are blocking the white hats that help people? What about the black hats..? D:

  • @MurderMauu I use ie but use chrome

  • @tnimpala at my house

  • @MurderMauu *reading this on my friends computer's IE* Awkward...

  • Google chrome POWER :D

  • My school is getting these tomorrows. :D

  • @BrassController Where is your school?
