hey theres a problem with mine. i did everything you did but iphone says, instaling jailbreak data. and it says like that. then after a while it restarts and goes back to the locked screen asking for the sim card. and i can only make emergency calls

@gggggg750 are you sure you're on the correct firmware? this is for the old firmware 3.1.2

@akaKhanh yeah i restored my iphone 2G with 3.1.2 on itunes but when redsn0w asks for the firmware, it will only reconize the 3.0 i have here on my desktop. it wont reconize the 3.1.2 at all.

the folder doesnt come up when i click restore, and it tells me its in safe mode.. but if i do it not in safe mood it says that i cant use that sim with the phone and it just doesnt work...

try putting it into DFU mode. search it up on youtube or google. then try the steps. i had to do that with mine

well blackra1n is a newer version to jailbreak. so u should just stay on blackra1n

well you could use blackra1n and jailbreak, then use blacksn0w and unlock it. once uve jailbroken it go into blackra1n and install blacksn0w. u can search for tutorials here on YT

Well then u wanna turn it off and put it in DFU mode then plug it in. Search it on yt or google

well i tried to do this after i accidentally update my iphone

and after it update it went to the activation screen. And I dont know how to do the activation in my iphone because I dont have any data plan. Should I use a different SIM card with a data plan on AT&T to activate it or should i just fine someone who knows to unlock and jailbreak it back to 3.0?

u can just put it into DFU mode (just youtube search it) first then plug it into iTunes. after that just follow the instructions in the video

well, my iphone's wifi is broken so this was my only method. But u can just jailbreak using blackra1n and unlock by using blacksn0w

from what I know the latest version of iTunes doesnt do anything to the jailbreak, the first time i tried this method I was on an older version of iTunes and it worked perfectly fine

Thanks...I have been trying to update my 2g and it keeps failing...not sure why but I keep getting some weird balding guy(cartoon) on my iphone..it says something like "nepe"...I will try your links and downloads and see if they work...

me?? my itunes is waaaay out of date...it's like 7.? maybe 8.? at most...the only thing I can see different then the youtube vids I copied my info(how to) from was that I probably was running a really old version of itunes...

so should I update if i'm on 7.X? or 8.x? at the newest?

my phone is on 2.2 right now...and I have not updated my itunes since the 2.2 software release...

i think it should still work even though ur on an older version of iTunes, but if it doesnt u can update to the latest version b.c its been said by the dev team that the latest iTunes only blocks the Palm Pre's syncing
