@vlaf002 Oh, please don't cry, it's OK, I cried when I go to the KFC to order my fried chicken, or MCDonold to get a bruger, just think about the poor cows who's flesh I am about to eat, I just get so depressed and started to cry every time, I totaly undertsand how you fele about those tuna, I cried so hard when I ate my dog Lucky....... I miss him so much
If the supply is low and the demand is high human beings will always find a way when there is money to be made. Today, bluefin tuna is being develop through marine aquaculture to meet the tuna demand, this method will ease the pressure of bluefin tuna in the wild. Just like salmon, prices for tuna will be less expensive when more farms are built.
what is with the foul language and rude comments? seriously people, no reason to fight with eachother, why is it so difficult to love eachother? and respect the environment that God gave us? everything in moderation.
@laza102 greed and jealousy would be my answers to your questions. sometimes i wish 2012 can really come, cuz human is one fucked up kind of organism.
well what do you expect? when you catch like million of fish every year and have planes!!! to moniture there migration!! before it was people were lucky to catch like 10-13 fish per day and that would be amazing!! really its like puching some one in the face and asking why there mad and look hurt... you just gata think
As a sportfisherman I'm all for shutting down commercial tuna fishing, but that's only because I'm selfish and biased. However, the possible link between tuna and mercury as well as the economic downturn, as lowered the demand for tuna this year. I have heard some rumors that the purse seiners down in Mexico have not fished as much as in the past, but I'm not sure. All I do know is that I finally caught some bluefin this year, after like 5 years of not even seeing one.
Traditionally, a sushi meal is comprised with fish that are in season so that one can truly appreciate the best flavor that the caught fish can offer-something like vegetables (you may know that the veggies in season offer the best flavor & vitamins). Due to globalization and human weakness in wanting anything NOW, we realize issues like these....My best solution may be to not order tuna in our sushi meals since there are so so many other options to enjoying a great sushi meal!
From what i know , as a Japanese , we love our fish to be high in omega fatty acids and that is what makes them more valuable than the usual normal species.
Even eels , fresh water or salt water are kept or breed or allowed to thrived till its peak or prime harvest season.
But sadly , some Japanese are not adhering to the proper code of ethics in the fishing industries.
Oh well , another yellow tail fin sushi for me. hahahaa .
why dont they wait for the fish to lay eggs and stuff and trap them while there laying egg like sort ablock them and then when they start to come then they trap them and then you got millions for next year
Easy, we should become fish farmers. Then there will never be a fish shortage. Wait a second, I heard Canada fishing industry is wiped out by their own government. Get the message across, start Fish Farming.
Japanese leading the world to extinction??WTF is that, is it only asians thats affecting the world, i dont think so. WTF is it with americans, you guys use things mostly made in asia if you havent notice and we did not force any of the americans to eat sushi you guys went to buy sushi. Stop being racist
@SHE4everELLA02 what a great comment, though our students learn about the censorship and the secrets that USSR kepted from their citizens our government still tries the same thing and use mass media to create lies. US if people haven't noticed is committing a lot to "extinction" how many third world countries use as much oil as the US.
@dragonking123706 How many third world countries do you know of that are as industrialized as the U.S.? That will answer your "Extinction" question. Also, since when has oil caused extinction? Im just trying to see what youre getting at there.
@CelticPoison well basically global warming affects everyone and everything. what i was trying to say was that there are not many third world countries (if any) that would use oil and produce as much carbon dioxide as the US. also blaming people that "overconsume" a product is a terrible excuse in my opinion, i mean they are catching these fish because they want to sell it for money. By not regulating themselves on catching just the big fish or just male they help commit to the "extinction"
@SHE4everELLA02 At least the U.S. has regulations now, and they limit fishing here. Every country has their mistakes, but at least the U.S. is trying to fix them
@reehmeo Your comment is way out of line. Where did you hear in this report that America was leading any part of this? None to the massive ships(Persainers)were American, nor any of the ranches. America's appetite is no larger than any other countie's. It's a global phenomena. Obviously you don't like America and are looking under every stone to find a reason to validate your opinion.
@reehmeo did you not pay attention to the vid? One of the gents who monitors the tuna fishing stated all the countries doing the fishing. I dont recall him saying any of the vessels were American. Also a Chinamen paid 55k for one fish. To the other 13 who liked what u posted, Have fun in your 3rd world countries while I'm at the sushi bar, just keep on hatin' wasssssabi!!!!

Once the big tuna are fished out, there won't be any more for sushi and who cares if this corrupt industry collapses? They reap what they sow. The tuna will come back in 100 years.
