Hi, i'm 15 and a sophmore at highschool, i want to become a film maker, or camera dude for movies or TV. I want to attend a good college for this, but i'm bad in science and math, but great in my other courses, i don't see why colleges can't take me when in film making you don't need to know anything about math or science, any great colleges you know that I don't need to worry about math or science for film making?
haha this was funny. I want to go to NYU but im also looking into NYFA. I understand NYFA is cheaper, but wouldnt it "look better" to be going to a college. Sorry if there is some common sense stuff involoved here, but im only 14..
I am an aspiring film maker. i wanna write my own scripts, shoot, direct, and edit them also. I wanna do anything and everything that involves film. I love the art, it is my calling. I have fresh ideas, wonderful characters, and new plots that no one has ever heard of yet. I write scripts at home using Celtx, but i want my scripts to come to life. I wanna know if this is the school for me and how it works. or if there are any contests i can enter or anything. I am fifteen years old.
I would like to study there for a summer first and then who knows, maybe studying one year or so. I'm more into the writing (still learning english) stuff ¿is this a good school for someone who doesn't know anything of filming?
@cpearl004 You do not need any experience to attend our programs! We only require that you are able to speak conversational English well to keep up in your classes.
Well, I know about 80 of the people who are there right at the moment, all students who live in the same complex, actors, directors, lighting, and I can tell you - they are all loving it, having the time of their lives working with the best equipment and awesome facilities. I am just saying - sometimes `what you hear`isn`t the same as `what you experience``. Unless you have been there yourself and all the bad experiences you mention - I don`t think it is fair to comment.
Everyone has their opinion - but your obviously the one with the very strong bias. some will have amatuer films at the end if there was no talent to begin with - common sense...
sorry totally disagree. Anyone who wants to be working with in the industry from the first day in class - NYFA is one of the best. If you are like my son, and don't want to do all the english, math etc classes that come with the all rounder universities - then go to a film school
who specilaizes in film. If you want the best school in North America at the moment it is actually Vancouver Film School - they have placed more students in industry than ANYONE ELSE and have the best reputation
didn`t say I was right - I said I disagreed with you. I dont`have any bias - my son was offered 4 scholarships at all excellent schools and chose NYFA because it was the best for him. He is on a scholarship so I didn`t pay 25k..... he has been working with feature film directors who have noticed his work, not just teachers.
@littlenickyn holyy... well thank you sooo much for all the info I will be sure to take your advice and create some of the best films i can possibly think of! thank you
@littlenickyn okay thanks but I'm looking for more directing and less acting. does anyone happen to know what school Ridley Scott graduated from? just out of curiosity
well... some people are better teachers than filmmakers etc... ur seeing it with a pessimistic eye. At the end is all up to you. some of these teachers have their own project so dont judge or encapsulate a film school based on this.

I want to commit my life to acting and/or film making. Is this a good academy to start off from scratch?
