Boyd did not respect anyone around him, and treated his staff like slaves. He was not a good employer. If he cared about his staff, he would have tried to hold on to them, not have a sweary rant, and find out why they wanted to leave. Instead, the toys would always come out of the pram. He lived the dream, made it happen and created art from metal. That's what cars are anyway, art, expressed by some designer who creates a shape that takes form and eventually life. Driving one of his creations was a privledge and owning one of his creations would have been a dream. Not many men can say they went this far with their dreams, Boyd did and I'm sure he made a difference in the Hot Rod World and beyond, RIP my friend.

I am very sad to hear of the death of Boyd. I'm from Brazil and my father was a small collector of old American cars. My father died in 2006 aged 80 years and not met Boyd on TV, be sure that my father would admire the wonderful work and Boyd as car lover he was. It is a great loss, recommendations for family members.

I too am from the UK and only learned about his death when this year (2010) Quest started to do re-runs of the show which I watched on it's first UK run back in 2005.
The guy was mint. He reminds me of some people I have worked for and I must say, some little bits of his personality were an influence to me in what I now do.
It genuinely saddened me to learn of his death when I looked him up on Google.
I hope he is happy and at peace wherever he may be.

As someone who grew-up watching Boyd starting with the Silver Bullet, I was amazed with his machinist & designer skills who could create every aspect of a vehicle from billet. Yes, he gave hard times to others, but he remained dedicated and loyal to you if you did the same. Boyd will be remembered for his contributions to Hot Rodding. When was the last time you flipped on someone? Only difference was your moment of being human was not captured on video for the world to see & judge.
coddingtons wife jo took over but closed it within 3 months of his death as she couldnt handle workload, before doing so Duane had took over all of boyds duties (entire running of the place), in doing so he asked for a pay rise but jo rejected the claim and sacked him in the process....Dan sobeski bought out the premesis and opend his own shop under the name Poor Boys hotrod shop! Boyds 3sons have continued there fathers legacy three years latter opening a bodyshop named Boyd and sons...
He brought most of the stress on himself. BlueBear was a good for nothing goofball, but Boyd had no business altering his car without his permission. And he treated Charlie like shit, so I don't blame him one bit for quitting and running away from the car shop from hell.
He went to hospital for something with his heart or summin else, and got sugery done and doctors said that he will make a full recovery and Boyd got out of hospital, but then went back days later and died because of an earlier surgery..... R.IP BOYD. Coddington

I too am from the UK and only learned about his death when this year (2010) Quest started to do re-runs of the show which I watched on it's first UK run back in 2005.
The guy was mint. He reminds me of some people I have worked for and I must say, some little bits of his personality were an influence to me in what I now do.
It genuinely saddened me to learn of his death when I looked him up on Google.
I hope he is happy and at peace wherever he may be.

Only just found out tonight that boyd had passed as im from the uk and i didnt see anything in any papers or on the news.
I thought you stuck by duane too much but you seemed to be a fair guy.
I used to like the way yo would take the guys out for a day out to cool off because they worked so hard for you and to such tight dead lines.

Real Shame such a charitable man still watching him and Roy on the discovery channel. I dont think many of us over in the UK realised that this man had passed away even Roy. Boyd had a good heart from what I saw and I would have loved to have met him. I have the up most respect for Boyd and Roy and they are a generation that will never be replaced R.I.P gents.

As someone who grew-up watching Boyd starting with the Silver Bullet, I was amazed with his machinist & designer skills who could create every aspect of a vehicle from billet. Yes, he gave hard times to others, but he remained dedicated and loyal to you if you did the same. Boyd will be remembered for his contributions to Hot Rodding. When was the last time you flipped on someone? Only difference was your moment of being human was not captured on video for the world to see & judge.

coddingtons wife jo took over but closed it within 3 months of his death as she couldnt handle workload, before doing so Duane had took over all of boyds duties (entire running of the place), in doing so he asked for a pay rise but jo rejected the claim and sacked him in the process....Dan sobeski bought out the premesis and opend his own shop under the name Poor Boys hotrod shop! Boyds 3sons have continued there fathers legacy three years latter opening a bodyshop named Boyd and sons...

He went to hospital for something with his heart or summin else, and got sugery done and doctors said that he will make a full recovery and Boyd got out of hospital, but then went back days later and died because of an earlier surgery..... R.IP BOYD. Coddington
