  • Did he just say "angle of PISS"?!?!

  • is that orange fat ewwwww my dad needs that

  • i see a boob

  • I never could watch this video until I had my lap band installed on 8-22-11.

  • Judging from the yellow thingy @ 1:32, the patient just had grilled cheese sandwich (or scrambled egg). Actually, both.

  • aaaa, the whole time i was worrying if they would poke too hard on the organs.

  • im wanting to get this done but i just dont know if i could handle that kind of pain i had me gal bladder removed and that almost killed me :(

  • @christellove1 Im fixing to have the LapBand done, and I too have had my gallbladder removed. My dr told me its basically the same, you will just have more down time to recover. With me though, having my GB removed was a breeze. I had my surgery on Friday and I was back to work the following Monday.

  • i will do on 1 March ! :D

  • they just totally made her stomach bleed!!! ewwiieee even her fat was blleeding.... ugh sry im gonna go throw up now

  • very informative the one thing that i find myself asking is there any problems with it after surgery

at the moment im thinking of looking further into it as my bmi has always been up around the 40-45 mark

  • @ford469 I would really highly suggest you don't go through with a surgery like this,It is dangerous and unhealthy for your body. It puts much damage and stress on your body and if the doctor does the surgery wrong it might be your last

This can be accomplished through diet and exercise regardless what anyone thinks.I understand some people feel helpless because they've lost hope, but they just haven't had a diet plan set up through someone who knows what they're talking about. Please reconsider

  • @danesters if it weren't healthy it wouldn't be done by so many medical professionals. and yes if its done wrong it could be your last surgery but that's how it is with ANY surgery. and there are people out there who have tried countless workouts and diets etc and can't lose the weight. and dieting can also be dangerous - people can take it to far or do it the wrong way and lead to problems. Unless you're a medical professional I'd recommend advising people about their health.

  • @LimeyBeetle Yeah you are right, cutting yourself open and modifying your organs is healthy. Come on, it is NOT HEALTHY. Again, you are EXTREMELY wrong that people have tried countless workouts and diets and can't lose weight. The problem why these people didn't lose weight is simply due to the fact that they either followed a diet and workout routine that was an incorrect or inaccurate plan or they just did not follow through with the plan to a T.

  • @LimeyBeetle You are like the many people that believe in the media and they way the market their weight loss program. Almost all marketing for a weight loss program will say "Some people just can't lose weight even with diet and exercise"...Lap band uses this marketing tactic too to make people feel like the only way the can lose weight is with THEIR SYSTEM, which is COMPLETELY false. That would be like saying if you didn't eat for 2 weeks you wouldn't lose weight...Obviously YES YOU WOULD

  • @LimeyBeetle Our human bodies don't live in FANTASY LAND

Weight loss comes down to ONE THING AND ONE THING ONLY.How many calories you take in and how many calories burned. If you burn more calories then you take in YOU WILL LOSE WEIGHT.It is literally physically impossible not to.

If you take in more calories then burned, you GAIN WEIGHT..PLAIN AND SIMPLE.

Think about it,that is EXACTLY what the lap band does,it limits how much food you intake which therefore means it can be done without it

  • @danesters Yes, and E=MC^2 is all there is to all of mass and energy... but the details are much finer, more inter-related and complex than your over-simplified analysis. I'd have to side with LimeyBeetle here and suggest that if you are not a medical professional, you should stay your advice on how people should go about improving their health.

  • @StevenBee2 Sorry you are ABSOLUTELY wrong. I will agree that everyone's body is different...Meaning, two people who are the same weight and eat the same exact food for a week straight..One could gain weight and the other might lose weight. Some people have a high metabolism and others can have a really slow metabolism...But in the end it just means the person with a higher metabolism is burning more calories therefore thats why they might not gain the weight..

  • @danesters Yes, again E=MC^2.If you boil it down to an equation it's very easy to say what needs to go on one side of the = sign to get a desired value on the other..but life tends to be more complicated than that. We're talking about humans here, not robots.Your logic is the equivalent of telling a clinically depressed person that all they need to do is simply cheer up.

  • @StevenBee2 Again, you are WAY off topic here and are not even being somewhat logical. We're not talking about peoples emotions, brain chemistry, and an imbalance of neurotransmitters. We're talking about your physical body in regards to gaining or losing weight. Unfortunately so are SO wrong. There is a HUGE DIFFERENCE between the complexity of human beings and losing or gaining weight. PLAIN AND SIMPLE, your body exceeds its sustainable caloric intake and you will gain weight.................

  • @StevenBee2 So unfortunately when it comes down to the body gaining weight or losing weight, it ACTUALLY does come down to an equation.

Please tell me how someone who only needs a daily caloric intake of 2,500 to sustain its current weight can lose weight if they take in 3,000 calories? You know what that is called.....FUCKING IMPOSSIBLE! It CAN NOT HAPPEN....Well it can happen if they burn 1,000 calories because then that puts them at 2,000 calories for day. Get the picture????

  • Comment removed

  • @danesters Yes, I "get your picture"... you're not seeing, or not caring to see my point. YES, the outcome can be expressed as an equation. To do otherwise would be a violation of conservation of energy. But to say that ALL an overweight person needs to do is "eat less than you spend" is simplistic and patronizing. When we're talking humans, with human brains, in human lives, with human variables, the actual ACT of losing weight can be more difficult than simply parroting over & over A = B - C

  • @StevenBee2 I really don't know what to tell you. There is NO point in even trying to argue your stand because you are just plain WRONG. It would be like me saying I eat 100 calories a day and I am still gaining weight. IT CAN NOT HAPPEN...IT IS 100% ONLY ABOUT CALORIES IN CALORIES OUT!!! If you are talking about motivation then again you are talking about something different. ANY PERSON who exercises and takes in less calories then their body needs will LOSE WEIGHT BOTTOM LINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @StevenBee2 And that's when NIKE COMES IN AND SAYS......"JUST DO IT"......Because like I said it may be difficult for some more then others to lose weight due to work, family, school etc. etc.......

But again, MY ONLY POINT HERE (WHICH CAN NOT BE ARGUED) is that if someone takes in less calories then their body needs they will lose weight 100%...There is no ifs, ands, or buts............IT CAN NOT HAPPEN!! ITS PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE!! I understand your variables...But do you understand me yet??

  • @danesters For Zeus's sake, I never did not understand this extremely simple tenet you're spouting. NO ONE is disagreeing with you. It's the same bleat of idiocy repeated again and again across the stars by people who have nothing useful at all to say about the subject. What we're disagreeing with is your use of this kindergarten logic to tell people that their doctors are wrong and endangering their lives by advising procedures such as this one for people with a life-threatening health problem

  • @StevenBee2 Okay so its wrong to help people? I actually am trying to help people...This is not only dangerous but it puts tons and tons of stress on the body. The ads make it look at all happy like its not a big deal but it is. When you know someone who has had this done and they feel miserable like they're on their death bed then maybe you will understand. Not only that, the person gets no satisfaction or sense of accomplishment through having this procedure.

  • @StevenBee2 People get such a confident boost when doing it themselves through hard work that it changes their life. Not only makes them feel better but they feel they can accomplish anything.

I was never trying to be a dick here...It's just I know it can be done without this procedure and the positives are much much greater when accomplished naturally....There is so much more meaning behind losing weight when every meal, every run, everything that was sacrificed to accomplish a goal...

  • So my question to you is, "Do you really want to have surgery and do your body physical harm because you have no self control over what you eat?" Diets and exercise DO NOT fail BOTTOMLINE...WHY? Because it is literally PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE to burn more calories then you take in and still gain weigh.....Do you have it in you to be motivated enough to lose this on your own? Don't DESTROY your body because you are not dedicated enough to lose the weight yourself...MAKE A PLAN TODAY..RIGHT NOW

  • @danesters listen bro, this is a free country, if someone feels that this would make them feel better let them do it. let me guess you are a republican, correct....

  • @daffeyy I don't care if anyone does this and by all means if it makes them feel better then great. But the bottomline here which I was trying to convey is that it is not healthy and it is dangerous.

I am trying to help people from going down this path. There is no need for this, it can be achieved through hardwork, diet, and exercise. Not to mention, it changes peoples attitude to accomplish such a great goal. It definitely can be done and I hope I can change at least one persons mind.

  • Due to all these weight loss fads and marketing campaigns, they have build in the heads of some people that they cannot lose weight through regular diet and exercise, WHICH IS ABSOLUTELY ridiculous. DO you know how many people have told me they can't lose weight because of their "GENETICS"...People, that's like saying you would be put in a nazi camp and still be fat..We all know that is ridiculous..All the surgery does is limit your food intake, which you can do BY YOURSELF.

  • Will the balloon go on the inside or will it be held on the outside?

  • someday im gonna be a surgeon

  • i cant believe he said "i hope you enjoyed"

i was feeling dizzy the whole time!

    so, i have a question

do they ever remove the band from people that get this done?

  • yes thats why its so much less envasive

than the gastric bypass cause its removable

but they dont like to remove it cause then you

    wouldnt lose weight.

  • Thank you allie0788!

  • yes that yellow stuff is fat, and wow its like cool as hell!

  • is that yellow stuff fat?

  • does this device keep you from eating too many cookies?

  • yessir

  • Bugsina - I am in NZ also and had the lap band done (by Rob Fris) 12 months ago, paid for myself as well. So far I have lost over 50 kg - its the best thing I have ever done. Enjoy it and go for it!

  • Hi,

I am in NZ and I am getting this done in Feb 2009 paying out of my own pocket!

This has helped so I know what is getting done to me before hand.

This is costing me about $15000. So a price not to think too little to have done.

    Thanx for posting on here!!:-)

  • OMG...its so weird to think that thats going to be going on inside of me in 16 days time...gosh thats creepy.... i think it kinda helped make it more real by seeing it though...

  • Very well explained and narrated. Very nice and clean procedure.

  • How Much does a Surgery like this Cost?

  • ill guess a little over 10k

  • Does kaiser insurance cover this?

  • a lot of insurances actually do, surprisingly.

  • loved the video! I feel it helps to watch before you have such a surgery! i found it very comforting!

  • My aunt had the Bi-Pass sugery where they cut up your tummy and make it smaller. You can reverse that one. The problem is that shes become intalorent of milk, some meats, Hard grains soda . . ecta. With lap ban you can have the ban removed when you get to your goal weight so if you have complications with some foods it can be fixed. But just remember that you can strech your tummy out again, so learn to eat healthy. Dont reward your self with food!

  • Sorry I ment to say you CANT reverse that sugery! . . .

  • I just have a question can you remove it afterwards? and is it true that you have a scar/bump after the surgery?

  • My mom's getting this done but its for health reasons as well.

She is able to go into a stroke or heart attack because of obesity and she does diet but can't really exercise becaz bad leg and its from her weight. She used to be a model when she was in her 20s but she was always thick which is absolutely fine and she looked fabulous and she's also 5'2". She still does look absolutely beautiful but she's worried about her health and dr recommended it and she will be having it in January.

  • Do physical exercise , develop healthy habits and you will never need any surgery

  • I'm seriously considering having this done. It's nice to read comments from others who've had this done!

  • I had it done 8 months ago it helped me a lot, if you have any questions? please let me know.

  • im thinking about getting it but people keep telling me that it doesnt work and that the by pass is better...how you doing and how many pounds you lost already

  • no.

  • why not?

  • no. i'm doing it. i was just saying. kinda bad to see before the onset.

  • oh ok yea u right.

  • I'm 15 yrs old 5'11 290 pounds. I might get this surgery. I have been qualified already and my parents can afford it.

  • ME to. I'm 15,5'11 326 pounds and i'm gettting it done.

  • dont u have to be at least 18 for it to be done? Im 16... and my parents want it done.

  • oh.. well it depends on your situation.. like if your parents really want you to lose weight maybe they should hide all the food in your house.. and then maybe to do your part you can put the fork down... it is a choice to eat... not a physcological disorder... as many news shows want you to belive.. go get some placebo pills and stop eating as much, stop watching tv and buy some weights.. i garentee weight loss will show in two- 4 weeks...

  • ugh..this gave me a headache

i can't watch the whole thing..and i don't get grossed out of this kinda stuff real easily..but i gues now i do

  • this may be graphic, however, they provided a disclaimer before watching the vid and you had to verify your age. In the future it may behoove you to heed such warnings.

  • I am 22 years, I had this done 7 months ago, I recomend this, you can still eat, but the not way you use to.

  • I agree, I had it February 7, 2008 and I've lost 40lbs. Shout out to St. Mary's Hospital, Virginia

  • this surgery is much safer than mgb but cost$20000

  • the narrator seems like hes trying so hard to make it sound good, hes trying a little too hard. very interesting though.

  • You have pain for a week after? How painful? Is it tollerable? Im considering this surgery, I am a type2 diabetic and any comments are welcome. Im kinda scared...gulp, thanks!

  • Dont' watch this. You are gonna make yourself nervous and not want to go throughwith it.....

Good luck on whatever you choose! Of course the pain is tolerable, and if it's not, they will give you more narcotics until you forget your pain.

  • my mom had this surgery she said it didnt hurt but she coulndt eat solid food for a few days

  • what keeps the stomach from getting necrotic??

  • oh my, is the stitching really necessary, that part of the video made me so uncomfortable, the results i'm sure is worth it though. congrats.

  • That looks so painful..

  • @ddong4eva actually it's not as painful as it looks. I had it done a year ago. It was a lot less painful than I thought it would be. :)

  • @ddong4eva It is, I had it done 2 days ago.

  • @ddong4eva yes it does

  • @ddong4eva It is, I've done this procedure before. When you wake up you're in the worst pain. I couldnt laugh for days because it hurt.

  • Ugh. D: I hated the stitching part, but hey, the operation seems well worth it though. :]

  • this is a horrible procedure, apar with liposuction, cool video though.

  • I found a very large Lap-Band community and quite a few Lap-band videos at LapBandTalk

  • very good information

  • one question, i always see people posting the comment "fat"...what the hell is up with that? it only makes you look like and idiot, everyone knows the person is fat, and its just stating the obvious. it makes you look like you can't come up with any good comments yourself so you just type "FAT".

  • LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL PLUS +1

  • What does the lap band actually do?

  • I just had this procedure done 4 weeks ago,I sugest if youre getting this surgery you need to have someone who is really dedicated in taking care of you, my husband had to put up with alot of sh*t from me for the first 2 weeks, in 4 weeks i have lost 20 lbs, which is great expect to loose alot more within the next few weeks

  • Husbands put up with a lot of sh*t from women anyway.

  • lol Truuuuue that.

  • what does a lap band do?

  • wat is it?

  • it shrinks your stomach so you wont eat so much

  • i go today for the semenar, having had whatched this video, im questioning my sanity! im really excited, but yet a little nervouse and scared. how bad does it hurt? is it like the secerian that i had or worse?

  • well your asleep when it happens so obviously it isn't going to hurt during the surgery. i don't think it should hurt after since no actual cut is made in the stomach

  • Your stomach is cut 5 times... And YES- You're in pain for about a week after...

  • I had this surgery 3 days ago, Dr.David Davtyan did it and I have lost 11 pounds already! Dr.Davtyan is the best and I really recomend him. If anyone have question please write to me.

  • man

  • just to let all these ppl kno its not easy losing weight and i recently just got the lapband and its only been a month. im 15 and currenly have lost about 25 pounds on it. dont put ppl down just cause we might be a lil heavyer than u

  • have you really?

im 15 aswell and thinking about gettting it...is it really worht it? and can you really get it when your only 15?

please answer becuase everything i've looked at says you have to be 18 but i am 100 pounds over weight. and if you dont mind me asking how tall are you and how much did you weigh?

  • Why do people have to be so rude? You know you will not be fit forever and time will come you will gain weight and have a hard time losing weight. Why don't you grow up huh?If you do not want to watch then dont who is forcing you huh?You need to be sensitive to others and not just think of your selves.People have problems healthwise they do not choose to gain all that weight. This is part of life we can't be all sexy and malnourish like you so if you can't take the heat get out of the *F* kitchen!

  • I wanted to do this but my Dr said I have to have 3 pints of blood on standby and they could only take 2 pints out of me to hold prior to surgery, so he wouldn't do the surgery .. ( I did lose 40 pounds before meeting the Dr to show I was very serious about changing my eating behaviors etc ..

  • well um you said anyone who looks up lapbands must be overweight, well you must be then because you looked this up.

i am overweight and i did look this up because im interested in getting this surgery.

  • hi. i have recently found out i am having my lap band op on the 28th. you can view my video at lapbandmichael leave comments if you like.thanks

  • Because if you have a obese body type no amount of exercise and diet will change your body type. Didn't you see all that fat inside of the stomach? Imagine trying everyday for a life time to rid yourself of that. Have some understanding of people who are born with a obese body type. They aren't like a person born with a smaller body type.

  • Gee, I don't know. Maybe the same reason someone can't get a job and move out of their parent's house at the age of 24? Sometimes we just need some extra help.

  • Skinny jeans: Shut the fuck up and go throw up somewhere..

  • well somtimes that doesnt work at all.

    actually it can work backwards.

i've tried diets since i was about 6 and NOTHING works.

i excersise, eat right, or dont eat at all.

nothing helps. i've done atkins, sugarbusters, slimfast, fitfor life, and those horrible crash diets. somtimes it doesnt work.

    :/

  • my mom did this,,, its work,,, im sure its gonna work to u too,,, gud luck!

  • well thank you.

    :)

  • thats cool i cant belive its that simple buh probabaly painful

  • Any one watching this video, ask the question what happens if it fails and is put in to high like mind and you suffer and the doctors do not care, there only after the first payment.

i have a band for 5 years and gone thr hell with it.

They want to charge me again to remove it and replace it and lower it so beware ask some questions do not get caught up in the hype

  • soo much fat

  • Thanks ,I can now do this on my buddy with a ziptie. Cheap!

  • I just had this done on the 19th of December, two days ago. And I just have to say that I am doing good, and I can't wait to live a healthy life style. By the way, I am a 20 year old female. So anyone who has had this done or is thinking about it can talk to me. I love to hear about people's experiences with it.

  • hi, i am getting a lapband in august, and cant wait. im only 23, and am soooo sick of being fat and unhealthy. how have you found your lapband so far?

  • Good. I have lost 30 pounds so far. I am making a vLog. So check my page for monthly updates. One coming again soon!

  • fascinating! I had this surgery almost 8 months ago and have lost 75 pounds to date. Thanks for posting this video!

  • Need more sutures and smaller pouch in order to avoid upper pouch dilatation and eventually slippage

  • The pouch size is governed by the pars flaccida technique which makes it roughly 20-30ml. Upper pouch dilation is not a function of pouch size but occurs due to "packing" the pouch with too much content especially when the restriction is too tight.

  • There is no clinical evidence to suggest that number of sutures plays any role in slippage. For anyone who has ever observed a band that has scarred in, you will notice a pseudo-capsule that has formed between the approximated portions of stomach. This is regardless of number of sutures between 2-5. Decreasing the amount of vomiting or "productive burping" is the only thing that significantly decreases slips.

  • There are many clinical evidence that the old models like the one you used in this video had a high incidence of slippage. That is the main reason there are 2 newer models. They were small in lenght, small ballon and very, very rigid devices!!A REAL HERNIAL RING...

  • The band itself doesn't actually slip, it is the stomach that prolapses or "slips" and this occurs when bad habits (like persistant vomiting) continue. It is believed that the 2 newer models may decrease the slip rate but haven't been around long enough to be sure.

  • Where did you hear about these new models? I would like to read about them.

  • The newer Lap Bands that are made by Allergan/Inamed are called the AP system. There is a AP-S and AP-L model. You can go to the company website. I only use this type on my patients now.

  • thank you! but what is the major difference between that company and BioEnterics? The doctor i'm going to see on friday uses that brand.

  • That is an older name. It is now referred to as what is mentioned here. 2 the bands that are FDA approved are by Inamed/Allergan and Ethicon.

  • The pouch size grows 7 times its actual size as the time passes by and also the pouch size is afected by the adjustment you make during fills specially if they are done without fluoro...

  • The pouch will dilate with or without fluoro. Things backup behind the point of constriction. This is how the lap band works. It is a restrictive device. Many surgeons are skilled at both filling the band with and with out fluoro.

  • I had this surgery 1 year ago. And its the best way to loose weight when u dont find another way! i lost 80 pounds and i'm 18 years old. Also im student of medicine. Very interesting video

  • wow congratulations... my daughter is 19 years old and we were worried that she might be too young to have it done.this is really good news, were you scared, and how long did the surgery last. please let me know ok .and congratulations honey.

  • i was 16 when i had the surgery, i wasnt scared because my health is first just when i was at the surgery room, i had a little panic. But not that bad. The surgery last one hour and a half. Believe me if ur daughter really need it, go to the doctor and ask what he thinks.

  • i was thinking about doing this surgery and this video made me decide not to. I just need to be more active and change my life. 20,000 better spent on a nutritionist and personal trainer and no surgeries! I'll get healthy by commitment not surgery.

  • i think that your retrogasric tunnel is a bit wide...

  • Im never eating liver again!

  • I need this. Anyone had it done on the NHS? How long did you wait?

  • Really awesome, but looks kinda brutal huh? I actually have a friend in a study for teens who need lap band, and she said most people are out on the same day as surgery because of minimal pain, but you can only eat a little bit of mushy foods for like a month because of swelling.

  • i dont think it is brutal when you look at it properly, its really the fat and soft tissue that they move around so vigorously and they are not sensitive parts of the body! its like someone pinching their arm really theres alot of grasp, but no brutality or damage.

  • looks like raw chicken

  • Thank you for this very informative video. I am getting ready to go in for my consult and this helps me to be more prepared. I was very impressed with the technical information provided.

  • this pretty much helps me to understand what I'll be going through in about 26 days :P thxs!

  • barf

  • heh heh sweet

  • Very interesting! Your step-by-step video provided the exact educational & informative view I was looking for, for my upcoming surgery.

  • same here.

  • so can I do this myself or do i have to have help, I really want this done, but I don't want anyone to know

  • I'll do it for you. It could be fun.

  • Okay, promise not to tell my friends or family? lol :)
