  • As an englishman & a londoner to boot I would say Luke Kelly together with Paul Brady& Sean Keane are pure MAGIC.I could list many other great Irish singers but would take too long.I still think the greatest folk singer of all is Nic Jones.

  • He was a rover and enjoyed his guiness; he gave us a magic that was unparallelled then, is today, and, will always be so.

  • when I'm drinking, I'm always thinking

How to gain my love's company.

my favorite part of the song

  • love Luke kelly, scots version just made my day, thanks for sharing.

  • not just any old drunk!

  • Voices from heaven we are so missing, damn!

  • maybe we get to hear him again sometime my friend.

  • hey, great song by the best voice.

but whats the first verse? - i can't understand it

  • @399192209

    There's neer a nicht I'm a gan to ramble

there's neer a nicht I'm gan to roam

there's neer a nicht I'm gan to ramble intae the airms o my true love.

or there's never a night I'm going to ramble

there's never a night I'm going to roam,

there's never a night I'm going to ramble into the arms of my tre love.

  • Wow I love this one... always adored "the night visiting song" and this was a great version of it. And I now can't help but to head for my hidden bottle of whiskey :-)

  • what an amazing song for lukes voice! i cant imagine anyones else excelling this.. also a lovely pic of yer man, its nice to see him smiling along :) drinks on me :) x

  • Very similar message to The Night Visiting Song.

  • I love this song. If I can't make a girl cry with this, I'm not gonna marry her, lol. Just a joke. Maybe. Also! Scottish accents are easy, just replace all your o's with a's!

  • on ye kellyo!!! thanks for another classic. This one ticks plenty of memory box'es for me. It sounds like a mix of "the night visiting song" and "peggy gordan". Have you got any background on it? Thanks again.

  • It basically IS the Night Visiting Song, but with a Scottish accent. Great songs, both of them.

  • i am in mourning everytime i hear his songs...

    my whiskey is empty...

    R.I.P. luke

  • 'my whiskey is empty' that's beautiful, i'm going to use that in a song!

    god bless Luke Kelly

  • hands up, whos sober now? not me

  • I'm sober, but I just started working on that problem.

  • gr8 song...especially for us seldom sober ppl

  • Added on my birthday!! I remember hearing this song while in the military on the my first Irish CD-Irish Drinking Songs. People thought it was weird, I still crank this music whenever I get the chance. RIP LUKE!!! Cheers!
