Actually, it was Roland Ratzenburgers fatal crash that warranted increased depreciation of the bodywork and apendages. Also, higher cockpit sides were made madatory following Karl Wendlinger's almost fatal crash at Monaco a couple of weeks later. Unfortunately, as it was a freak accident, there was very little that could be done to prevent Ayrtons fatality. However, the FIA ruled that all visors had to comply with homologation, rather than just the helmet itself.

The driver is Hirokazu Nagaya at Suzuka I think. Not sure what year though

it wasnt the design of the car that killed ayrton, it was part of the suspension had penetrated his helmet
