Personally, the first time I saw this, I thought this part was funny and was laughing a little when I saw these two acting the way they where. Did not foresee him smashing him over the head with a pin...
This is one of my favorite movies (for right now)
This is a true silencing. This is the tyrant finally growing sick of the spiteful spiritual judas he used to have a handy use for. This is the company/corporation spewing conscripted religious leadership out of its "mouth".
This guy is got to be the easiest guy to murder. It took nothing. I would have just picked up the bowling ball he threw at me, thrown it at his face then walk up to the old man, slap him and walk out of there.
no no no no that guy used his religion to manipulate and hurt plainview in a massively theatrical way. using religion for manipulation was the only thing jesus got mad at and i don't blame him. it's fucking low to do that. he deserved to get melee'd with a bowling pin.
whats wrong with the butler at the end he just saw a dead body and a puddle of blood and that's how he reacted? can someone explain to me what the point of that was?
This scene was so unnecessary and didn't fit the rest of the film at all. The ending here is what separated the film from being perfect. Should've ended it after his son leaves and he's yelling at him.
@VEGASKID90 I thought this scene was perfectly fine. It was a great scene to display the extent of Plainview's madness. I do agree though that it was out of place...I didnt like that this was the last scene. I liked pretty much the whole movie but I felt it came apart a little at the end.
@VEGASKID90 What?? This is the best part of the film next to the baptism scene. It ties the movie together. Eli's and Daniel's true motivations are revealed at the end and they collide into violence and bloodshed.
@StyrbjornStarke; he doesen't look like a splicer but he's definitely acting like one in this amazing scene.lol.he would be the perfect replacement for Heath Ledger in another Batman film btw
I have to say I love this entire movie. It's in my Top 5 of all time lol. This scene should have been extended to before the milkshake saying as everyone likes to refer to.To me this scene was telling Eli that from beginning to end Plainview was draining/using the boy. That he had the upper hand the entire time while Eli was being underhanded in his own way.Plainview was a baddd man haha. But it's why I love his character so much.

i came on here to watch one of the best-acted scenes in all of movie history only to read some of the stupidest fucking comments i've ever read on Youtube.
@MrSvenskUngdom : Earlier in the movie, when Daniel Plainview seems to kill his own brother, he is actually killing a man who posed as his brother, an imposter. If I remember correctly, the man who stole Daniel's brother's identity served with him in a war of some kind, or perhaps worked a job with him (icr) and took Plainview's brother's stories and information, including a journal, after Daniel's brother died.
I don't know why people are debating religion here. The point is that Plainview has gone schitz. @390904902 Yes you're totally correct. But the film is a great American allegory, as well. Also, if you want to really bully the point and hammer it down -really pin the thing to a head- then it's possible to see this film as an accusation of the Saudi royal family and their relation to Islam.
Also, this film makes a lot more sense when you understand 'The Wicker Man' of 1973. There Will Be Blood is a better remake of 'The Wicker Man' of 1973 than that so-called "Wicker Man" remake of 2006.

I have to be honest in saying that after all the shite Eli made him go through in that church, and how he managed to humiliate a man like Daniel, there was no way that he would survive. I must also say that I have never been happier to see a character's death in a film.
wacky game jokes 4 kids made the first cartoon parody of this scene that i've ever seen. its called mario vs. sonic. and the bowling alley scene is exactly the same cept with his own characters
This scene ranks among the top I have ever scene. Such a shame this lost to no country. "I am a false prophet and God is a superstition. I am a false prophet and god is a superstition!"
It's amazing that some people are turning this into a Christian against Athiest debate when clearly both men were evil and selfish power hungry beasts. I love this movie like no other because it actually shows how cowboys and miners struggled with the transition to the modern world of oil and cars and big city living and megabucks. DDL clearly brings his Dodge city attitude through the transition with him to the modern world.
A truly foul character portrayed by ddl.. Firstly i don't get the message of the film if their is one, secondly ddl dominates the film so much, maybe to the detriment of other characters and story lines.Imo.
@0ua8 The message of the film is how life was at the turn of the century and what men did to become powerful. Oil or petrol was just becoming the beast that it now is and DDL portrayed a man who would stop at nothing to win big. He dominates the film because he played the bigger than life character that dominates everyone around him. And yes, a truly foul character he was. That's why he won an Oscar
Why are internet atheists such jerks? When I am at church we actually talk about famous atheists because they are respected among the christian community
@Pokewarfare A lot of Atheists don't usually mind religious people, as long as tehy don't try to convert you or take pity on you, but a lot of us see people like Eli as more than just religious. He's actually quite dangerous. He's essentially got a whole town at his feet, and claims to heal people, and assaults them in the name of God. It's that what I don't like. Because not only is it a load of bull, it's also dangerous. Also most people on youtube are trolls. Don't feed them ;)
All of you idots brinibng in religion to the film forget WHY Danile plainview was mad, it wasn't the general idea of faith, it was this pompous ass having the audacity to use his religion as a crutch and a bartering tool to fund his personal gain, he wasnt a christian, he was a stupid boy filled up on his own self importance. He believed his blessing would have contributed differently to how the events after it proceeded and pretty much said "see what happened? He was the Benny Hinn of his time
@FaganRoberts There are hundreds if not thousands of men just like Eli on TV right now. Trolling religious people is fun for you I'm sure, but how about actually doing some good and try to get them to see through the bullshit their Benny Hinn or whoever is telling them? There is a difference between having faith and trying to be a good person and just trying to squeeze a penny out of people because of their lack of common sense.
@FaganRoberts Are you actually trying to troll ME now? lol...one more time and I'm done talking sense to you. Why not help people see through the bullshit instead of being all "witty" and anonymously making fun of them? Do you think anyone that watches TBN will listen to anything you say? It's easy to poke fun at something based on faith. It's very difficult to actually get to a person.
@fatsomamacheese I don't get your point? Some of the biggest defenders of faith are those that say, "stop ridiculing the little minded people, they merely need a little help and understanding." Get off of it! YOU take some kind of stand and do something. All you want from me is to be kinder and gentler, yet you have nothing to offer except demands that everyone be nice-nice. Sheeesh....
@FaganRoberts No, you don't get my point. I don't want nice-nice, I want rational and retards like you annoy the shit out of me. Who exactly are these big defenders of faith that DON'T want people glued to TBN and sending them money? What are you smoking? I think YOU need to get off of it. I think YOU like to troll the weak minded and get all giggly when someone responds to you "WHAT WOULD JEEBUS DO!" When you have to actually deal with logic you get all waaaaaaaahhhhh!
@FaganRoberts Seriously though, sorry for encroaching on your fun. Go back to your magnifying lens and the ant hill, let the adults deal with the big issues of life.
@fatsomamacheese Sorry, but I seem compelled to tell you that you couldn't identify a big issue if it came up and bit you on your butt-cheek, let alone deal with one. You're like a mediator in a box during an imaginary debate, in that only you know what is going on inside, leaving everyone around befuddled, wondering what the heck you're talking about. You want answers to question you could never even begin to articulate, so instead you defend the credulous, foolish and superstitious.
@FaganRoberts Talking to you is like talking to a goat. You're actually very similar to a fundamentalist Christian except you're an atheist. You're mindset is almost exactly the same though, and the way you deal with logic that counters your unbelievably starched beliefs is quite similar. DIVE DIVE DIVE, don't listen to them, use every fallacy you know, ad hominem, strawman, change the gdamn subject! BUT DON'T LISTEN! Here, here's some hay to eat mr. goat. LOL
@fatsomamacheese Talking to animals may be your problem. Are those animals telling to that atheism is a belief system? What logic do they use that implores you to seemingly follow them so faithfully?
@FaganRoberts "Are those animals telling to that atheism is a belief system?" Atheism isn't a belief system knucklehead. I like how you're trying to argue with me the way you would a fundamentalist, which makes you seem maybe even less intelligent than a goat. I think I may have insulted goats when I compared you to them. I see you couldn't quote me defending superstitious people. I guess you're giving up on that line of logic too. What's next? You'll ask if I don't believe in evolution?
@fatsomamacheese Well..... I'm glad you understand atheism isn't a belief system. Perhaps we can get somewhere. Although the use of the term "fundamentalism" in the same sentence as "atheism" can make a rational person scratch his head and blink alot. As far as calling me knucklehead and retard, I'll let that slide. I think you are really projecting those adjectives onto yourself. Primarily due to your inability to initially articulate what you want me to do about those delusional religionists.
@FaganRoberts "Primarily due to your inability to initially articulate what you want me to do about those delusional religionists." I want you to stop being a troll and actually do some good, which I articulated quite well several days ago. You're just having reading comprehension issues. You still haven't shown me where I was defending superstitious people.
@FaganRoberts "Although the use of the term "fundamentalism" in the same sentence as "atheism" can make a rational person scratch his head and blink alot." Probably because you don't understand what the words really mean and what I typed flew right over your head. Like I said, a goat, a very dumb goat. More like a dead goat maybe, or a pellet that a goat pushed out...yeah, talking to a goat pellet. That's what this feels like.
Thumbs up if you came from smosh or seen the movie

I personally think that Daniel was angry because Eli made him put his pride and dignity (which had gotten him so far) below religion.
He recognizes Eli as conniving, because he himself is conniving.
At the end, he just sees him as a competitor.
And to anyone that says it's not about religion, stop talking out of your ass, and watch the DVD features with the director if you're not convinced.
The film clearly had a statement about religion and its role in growing capitalism
..They're both similar

I have to be honest in saying that after all the shite Eli made him go through in that church, and how he managed to humiliate a man like Daniel, there was no way that he would survive. I must also say that I have never been happier to see a character's death in a film.

wacky game jokes 4 kids made the first cartoon parody of this scene that i've ever seen. its called mario vs. sonic. and the bowling alley scene is exactly the same cept with his own characters

0ua8 1 year ago
@0ua8 The message of the film is how life was at the turn of the century and what men did to become powerful. Oil or petrol was just becoming the beast that it now is and DDL portrayed a man who would stop at nothing to win big. He dominates the film because he played the bigger than life character that dominates everyone around him. And yes, a truly foul character he was. That's why he won an Oscar

Why are internet atheists such jerks? When I am at church we actually talk about famous atheists because they are respected among the christian community
Pokewarfare 1 year ago

There is a difference between having faith and trying to be a good person and just trying to squeeze a penny out of people because of their lack of common sense.
fatsomamacheese 1 year ago
@fatsomamacheese People with ridiculous religions should expect to be ridiculed.
FaganRoberts 1 year ago
@FaganRoberts Are you actually trying to troll ME now? lol...one more time and I'm done talking sense to you. Why not help people see through the bullshit instead of being all "witty" and anonymously making fun of them? Do you think anyone that watches TBN will listen to anything you say? It's easy to poke fun at something based on faith. It's very difficult to actually get to a person.
fatsomamacheese 1 year ago
@fatsomamacheese I don't get your point? Some of the biggest defenders of faith are those that say, "stop ridiculing the little minded people, they merely need a little help and understanding." Get off of it! YOU take some kind of stand and do something. All you want from me is to be kinder and gentler, yet you have nothing to offer except demands that everyone be nice-nice. Sheeesh....
FaganRoberts 1 year ago
@FaganRoberts No, you don't get my point. I don't want nice-nice, I want rational and retards like you annoy the shit out of me. Who exactly are these big defenders of faith that DON'T want people glued to TBN and sending them money? What are you smoking? I think YOU need to get off of it. I think YOU like to troll the weak minded and get all giggly when someone responds to you "WHAT WOULD JEEBUS DO!" When you have to actually deal with logic you get all waaaaaaaahhhhh!
fatsomamacheese 1 year ago
@FaganRoberts Seriously though, sorry for encroaching on your fun. Go back to your magnifying lens and the ant hill, let the adults deal with the big issues of life.
fatsomamacheese 1 year ago
@fatsomamacheese Sorry, but I seem compelled to tell you that you couldn't identify a big issue if it came up and bit you on your butt-cheek, let alone deal with one. You're like a mediator in a box during an imaginary debate, in that only you know what is going on inside, leaving everyone around befuddled, wondering what the heck you're talking about. You want answers to question you could never even begin to articulate, so instead you defend the credulous, foolish and superstitious.
FaganRoberts 1 year ago
@FaganRoberts Talking to you is like talking to a goat. You're actually very similar to a fundamentalist Christian except you're an atheist. You're mindset is almost exactly the same though, and the way you deal with logic that counters your unbelievably starched beliefs is quite similar. DIVE DIVE DIVE, don't listen to them, use every fallacy you know, ad hominem, strawman, change the gdamn subject! BUT DON'T LISTEN! Here, here's some hay to eat mr. goat. LOL
fatsomamacheese 1 year ago
@fatsomamacheese Talking to animals may be your problem. Are those animals telling to that atheism is a belief system? What logic do they use that implores you to seemingly follow them so faithfully?
FaganRoberts 1 year ago
@FaganRoberts "Are those animals telling to that atheism is a belief system?" Atheism isn't a belief system knucklehead. I like how you're trying to argue with me the way you would a fundamentalist, which makes you seem maybe even less intelligent than a goat. I think I may have insulted goats when I compared you to them. I see you couldn't quote me defending superstitious people. I guess you're giving up on that line of logic too. What's next? You'll ask if I don't believe in evolution?
fatsomamacheese 1 year ago
@fatsomamacheese Well..... I'm glad you understand atheism isn't a belief system. Perhaps we can get somewhere. Although the use of the term "fundamentalism" in the same sentence as "atheism" can make a rational person scratch his head and blink alot. As far as calling me knucklehead and retard, I'll let that slide. I think you are really projecting those adjectives onto yourself. Primarily due to your inability to initially articulate what you want me to do about those delusional religionists.
FaganRoberts 1 year ago
@FaganRoberts "Primarily due to your inability to initially articulate what you want me to do about those delusional religionists." I want you to stop being a troll and actually do some good, which I articulated quite well several days ago. You're just having reading comprehension issues. You still haven't shown me where I was defending superstitious people.
fatsomamacheese 1 year ago
@FaganRoberts "Although the use of the term "fundamentalism" in the same sentence as "atheism" can make a rational person scratch his head and blink alot." Probably because you don't understand what the words really mean and what I typed flew right over your head. Like I said, a goat, a very dumb goat. More like a dead goat maybe, or a pellet that a goat pushed out...yeah, talking to a goat pellet. That's what this feels like.
