Not much to say here... It's the original classic MIDI file!

Though I think it sounds best through OPL (Sound Blaster/Ad Lib Yamaha FM Synthesis) or SC-88. This still sounds very nice though. :P

This isn't the PC version.. instrumentation and sound is much different.

@GoldenZealot21 PC version can sound different from PC to PC. It's MIDI and each soundcard will sound different playing it back.

@TheWeekle Yes,that is true.It depends on which synthesizer you choose.I recommend using Creative's SoundFont Synthesizer (or SB Live! A for Sb Live users) and a soundfont with a badass overdrive/distortion guitar.Of course,you can use every single GM synth.But I do NOT recommend Microsoft's GS Wavetable synth,it has samples from Sound Canvas,but real Sound Canvas is MUCH better,belive me.

@xan1242 SGM v2 is possibly the best GM soundfont imo

I also have Sound Canvas and I don't think it sounds too good, but I haven't explored it too much.

@TheWeekle Yes.There is also a soundfont called Silverspring,it's guitar is so bad-ass.

@xan1242 It is good, but much too loud in comparison to the other instruments and the drums are rather weak. My top soundfonts would have to be the SGM v2.01, Shadow 1.0, and GeneralUser GS 1.4. They have the best balanced instruments. The latter having a ton of really good quality sounds in comparison to it's 30 mb size.

Damn! I had no idea this was what the music was supposed to sound like on the PC version! Mine sounded much more primitive and MIDI-like, but this is awesome! Then again, I don't think I had the sound configured right on my PC at the time. I was only like, 11 years-old. lol

@TheDoomerBlox That's because the music for the PC version are MIDI files, so if you play it on a computer with a different sound card, it'll sound different than your sound card.

Correction: They are MUS files. And it'll only sound different on Windows if you use something else but the default MIDI device. Like Timidity++ ..

@TheDoomerBlox Depends on your sound card for the old DOS version. Doom for Windows 95 had the standardized PC music that we all know and love.

i have the playstation 1 version of doom it sucks it dont have the fast paced music like the pc version does

so im gonna have to try and get the pc version
