From 5:00-5:10, I think you're talking about film effects (the one with the scratches and slight shaking on the screen).

1:40-1:49 is just an overlaying clip with a lower opacity, so that the clip underneath can still be seen as well.

Opacity is basically transparency, how invisible the clip is. Lower opacity means it's more invisible.

As for the film effects, I've played around with the attributes to get what fits. I don't know what I used anymore, so just fiddle around, see what does what, and then change it to how you'd like it.
