Can someone please explain the difference between the "Scene" and "Emo" movements? As a "Goth" myself, I have never actually explored the music tastes or fashion differences in detail, but they appear to be very similar in tastes and styles.

Metal came from Blues rock, and psychedelic rock in the late 1960's. Punk and metal were completely different and neither one was a sub-genre of the other. And the culture of it all pretty much goes along with the music.

Can someone please explain the difference between the "Scene" and "Emo" movements? As a "Goth" myself, I have never actually explored the music tastes or fashion differences in detail, but they appear to be very similar in tastes and styles.
Oh, and don't go saying "Emos self-harm" or "Scene kids wear bright colors"... I don't want to know the stereotypes, I want to know WHAT makes you part of the Scene/Emo genre? ..From what I've seen, Scene kids are only the gangster versions of Emo kids...

@DarkShad0w emo is considered as somebody who would dress in mostly black , and is possibly depressed and/or cuts themselves pretty much . ( if i get any hate-mail for saying that , i will ignore you )
scene , on the other hand :
girl scene style : bright eye make-up , big hair ( doesn't always have to be big ) with side bangs of any sort , bright clothing ( graphic tee's , converse , skinny jeans , belts , tons of accessories ) , etc .
there's the difference , ladies and gents .

She actually looked pretty without the edit ;c and maybe some Scenesters have srict parents/schol rules so they can't where their hair in a "distracting" way. (My middle school did that...)

Not seek attention and shock out of others and impress your "friends" with. Also since when are Punk and Goth subgenres of Grunge and Metal dumbass? Punk is from the 70's, Grunge is from the 90's. Goth is an offshoot of Punk (both genres of the 70-80's). You do the math. There's nothing unique about Scene or Emo.

@BabyBratJJ You have absolutely no fucking idea what you are talking about. Emo was originally a legitimate genre of music, it was later bastardised by MCR and the like.. Scene is just a faggy fashion trend. Punk is a completely different movement to metal, but both are incredibly vague and encompassing terms so you can't really say one is the subgenre of the other.

@BabyBratJJ Punk originated from Rock and roll, folk, rockabilly, ska, surf rock, garage rock, glam rock, pub rock, and protopunk, from the 60s and before. Punk started in the Mid-1970s, in United States, United Kingdom, and Australia, it didn't come from metal.
Metal came from Blues rock, and psychedelic rock in the late 1960's. Punk and metal were completely different and neither one was a sub-genre of the other. And the culture of it all pretty much goes along with the music.

most people dont all edit there pictures, i mean yeah some duh but not all are scene and emo... my sister is the preppy barbie looking girly chick i know, she thinks shes a princess and she photoshops her pics.. and im scene but i dont photoshop mine cus im quit bad at doing it!! but most people just tell me i look fine anyway in my pics, they dont need photoshopped most people i know are perfect without photoshopping, but photoshopping just makes it better i guess.. theres not big deal about it

i guess i'm in this catagory of "scene" lol i'm totallyy not "emo" BUT I do not edit my pictures. The only time i do is when the camera gives me red eyes so i make my eyes go back to normal. Yeah, some do, but not all. Just sayin'.
