Why do people get so upset at those who viewed their relationship as something more than a friendship? If you didn't see it that way then fine, it was never specified in the anime anyway. But since it was never specified, it's open for interpretation, right? Sheesh.

Also, i've watched a fair amount of shounen ai, and can honestly say Yoite & Miharu's relationship was so much more meaningful than the majority i've seen. Their bond broke my heart more than any canon couple has.

You know, I have never watched this Anime, but every time I watch this video, I get watery eyes because I totally understand what the emotion is between these two characters... One represents what the other one feels (and opposite for the other), its just that they can finally SEE that feeling in front of them. They both don't care if they live or not, they both just exist; something apparently from what I can tell is hard in their time. They both lean on each other, making it easier to handle<3

@gladis518 Eh, folks can interpret it however they want. Media is meant to be enjoyed. I just think that folks who slap labels on this particular show, miss out on what makes it so subtle yet great. But in the end, it's the viewer's decision.

This song truly suits the two of them in many ways so I really like the choice in songs.

1) As xZaCloudx said they aren't necessarily friends but that doesn't make them gay either. In the song there is no hint that the author was romantically interested in the person the song is about.

2) The song says; "Even if I say It'll be all right Still I hear you say you want to end your life". Just like how Yoite wants Miharu to erase his existence.

Yaoi is only when it includes sexual relations. Nabari no Ou could possibly be defined as shounen ai, though.

In Japan it's all "BL" which is short for "Boy's Love"

No, to put it simply, they look at each other as if they were the same person. To Mahiru, only Yoite can understand the pain of lonliness and the pain of others treating them kindly, and vise-versa. That makes them precious to another for their fear of being alone again in a world where they feel alienated from everyone else. That doesn't mean their gay in any way, but simply that they [mostly Mahiru] doesn't want to lose someone who actually understands his own suffering.

There's more types of feelings between guys than friends,or gay. Their relationship has no name. It's more like they're the only two who can relate to each other in a hard existence. They anchor to each other for direction. It's very emotional in the story.

Just wish folks would realize things aren't black-and-white. In fact this anime delves into various aspects of life's ambiguities. No real good guys or bad guys. We like convenient labels for everything, when really it's not so simple.

@xZaCloudx Ok, so I agree with your statement completely, but I DO have to point out that this anime IS listed as "Shonen Ai", which for those who don't know, is "yaoi" or "gay romance". I watched this anime on the FUNimation channel (whoo, go FiOS and their awesomeness giving me anime channels), not knowing it was intentionally yaoi, and (as usual) noticed signs that would point out romantic interests between the characters, whether these relationships were gay or straight.

@xZaCloudx (continued) I later learned that it was INTENTIONALLY yaoi. Did that change it for me? No. I'm not anti-gay, and I'm not immature (uh, *cough*, I'm a lesbian, anyways). This is a very well-made anime with a beautiful, original storyline that shouldn't be overlook JUST because SOME people don't like same-sex romance. It isn't even the least bit strong.

@SephiriaStargazer Well, FUNimation labeled it Shounen-ai since they decided it would appeal to that fanbase due to the closeness of the main characters. But the original Japanese version was labeled Shounen, for teen boys. Such stories very rarely play homosexuality straight (so to speak), usually only using it for humor or background characters.

So it was a marketing decision by the American distributor. But the manga was in an action, shounen, aimed-at-boys magazine as a rare drama story.

They say that he's pretty like a girl all the time, though you are right in a sense. He's got a flat chest and a boy-like voice. So male must be dominant if he has both genders.

Either way, though, that small detail is one of the reasons why I love Yoite so much. He's the only anime/manga character that I have come across with such a trait so far. Having to live a life like that, and having that trait be the cause of so much despair, I can't even imagine. Yoite is beyond words for me.

he's still a "he" though because he defines himself as male. And having his existance erased wont make Yoite happy, it'd just make him blank.. I think he'll eventually realize how much Miharu (and Yukimi and Gau and even Raikou) care about him and realize that he's capable of happiness if he just lets go of the past and if Miharu deletes his kira-ness. not to mention that erasing the fact he gained Kira would change his past. He seemed happier in the latest manga chapters, Miharu changed him.
