  • Why do you even need a weed whacker for, you can just fly an inverted helicopter by it and the job is done!!

  • haha im going to do that to my weed wacker lol. I wish you where my science teacher! mine is so boring lol all he talks about is golf lol.

  • nice

  • What is the music track by the way?

  • Now that's some good weed whacking right there.

  • Now all you need is retracts haha

  • Mate this rocks! =D

  • Dave could you do a video on how to make a landing gear ... i mean the actual stem and how to make it rigid and stuff?

  • Two things:

First, I think I see why it takes two hours to do your trimming. You're as slow as hell. LOL. Geezer.

Second, are you afraid to get runs in your panty hose? Really, dood, what do you use to shave your legs? A razor or do you prefer creamy hair removal products?

  • Because he was in Nam and he Got a severe Leg injury.

    Asshole (pardon my language Dave)

  • Also Consider maybe his yard is bigger then yours.

  • @WileECoyote1000 first of all respect this man. he is served in the marines for 30+ years and second why the F*** are you staring at his legs you perv!!!

  • i don't get it om abit thick LOL whats post to happpend is it cutting the grass

  • i actually have done this like 2 years ago i had a contract mowing business and for the same reasons as dave (sore arms)I added landing gear i will show some pics on here mine has the same set up as Dave except my wheels can swivel

360' like a trolley wheel it worked well to nice job dave

  • Wow Dave I'm shocked you don't have a chopper copter set up for weed wacken :))

  • geneous!!!

  • Hey Dave, I'm one of your best fans,BUT, wouldn't you be betteroff to just balance the weedwacker by adjusting the shaft handle? Then use the shoulder strap. I search for your new videos every day. Keep it up!

  • Hahahahahaaaa i laughed my butt off when i read ur comment. What makes you/what makes you think that ur one of the best fans?Your just as much fan as others here...

  • I just ment to say I was a big fan, thats all. No disrespect.

  • I gotta tell thats some good old fashion ingenuity! Great stuff as usual Dave!!!

  • Do a Remote Control lawn mower it would be awesomeeeee

  • they already made lawn motors that do it them selfs

  • Classic Dave Herbert ingenuity!

  • can't believe...you have no limits Dave

  • lol cant wat untill you do a next vid

  • Great video! Dave, you sir, are a 'proper' inventor! You really need to put a petrol engine from one of theese in a plane!

  • Oh yea, put some decals on the weed wacker!

  • Ooooooh, I like!

Next you should try a nitro conversion on that 2-stroke, and perhaps a tuned pipe?

  • Dave this looks like some of my inventions. I am one of the guys who run your video ' view counter's ' up by watching them everyday. My favorite's are the 2nd or 3rd F18 blue angel (70mm) and very favorite and (new?) is "9 planes in one afternoon" that is a must see for any jet fan. My uncle custom built a Pitts Modified (full scale) similar to your red one, send me a email address I will send a pic. BionicSam

  • Great job Dave ! You are always thinking .

How about puttin some Robart retracting gear on it to get them out of the way when you don't need them !

  • LOL. Yep, just what I want to do, is complicate things, but robarts would look cool. Thanks

  • ahah! this is great, i love the way you think of these things, it's absolutely genius!

And you clearly have much skill, when it comes to constructing things and also looking on out to make something better.

Well done NightFlyyer you clearly. Rock.

  • Thanks kindly. Wait til you see what is next, with my wind turbine.

  • lol feel the heeeeaaaatt! you should have the wheels swivel like on the front of a grocery cart. thanks peace

  • Tried that, but it kept getting away from me with no control, so I had to go back to inlines.

  • Who would have though that you could put music like that to a weeh-whacker?, but it does go!

Love the way you appreciate engineering and don't have to be thrashing the life out of an engine to get it to do the job!

  • Haha. Thanks very kindly. I appreciate that. Stay tuned for tonight's science project video, if you like engineering like I do.

  • Cool music Dave! Good idea too!

  • Thanks. I appreciate that.

  • clever..

  • Thanks kindly.

  • Hey that what was a wacky video. . . Sorry I couldn't resist. All your videos are great.

  • Haha. Very good pun. Thanks man.

  • you just made a small version of the DR TRIMMER by DR Power Equipment, its been around for 10 years now.

  • Ya but he is wayyyy cooler than they fag that invented that BIG version.

  • agreed, i guess im just a straight shooter on my critiques. I like nightflyer, in some cases innovation can be better then invention. He may have a yard that needs a mini DR, he also spent good money on the gear it might not have fit his needs so he found a value in something unused. And even though maneuverability will be different he is probably avoiding Elbow Tendonitis (tennis elbow). only change I would make is rotating casters 4 360 movement.

  • Thanks. Castors did not work as I tried them first. The rotation of the string kept pushing the wheels away, and they did not always turn in the grass when I wanted them too. This LG setup only cost me 8 bucks and is very lightweight, so at 61 years old, I did it for me. I am passing on what I learned to others who like to tinker and make their own things for fun.

  • Thanks. I only made if for me and not to sell. Never saw any others out here, but thought I would pass on what I learned for others who dont like bying things they can make themselves for fun.

  • Never saw it. I just made it for me and showed what I did.

  • Sweet.

  • Thanks.

  • I need to upgrade from my hula-ho!!

  • Haha. Thanks.

  • maybe u can sell this invention to an invention company!

  • Haha. I just did it for my own use and passed on the idea. I appreciate your comments.

  • Nice one Dave and you could be another member of the A-team ;-) 5*

  • Haha. Very kind of you to say, sir.

  • Great idea Dave. I think the only whackers I have seen wheels on are the big industrial ones. Thanks for yet another great idea:) 5/5

  • Thanks kindly. I have not ever seen any til after I made this video and they are pretty big and heavy.

  • Nice vid Dave. Good inspiration for me to get outside and do some yardwork today! (and a great little modification there also)

  • Thanks very much. I appreciate that. Good luck.

  • from one prop -nut to another.....well done man!

  • LOL Thanks man!

  • one question what happens when you strimming form side ti side and you catct the wheels on the floor wil the bend?

    great idea night flyer

  • Nope, they are very strong landing gear wires for big planes and I just have to lift slightly, as they only weigh one ounce. Thanks for the comments.

  • im just wating 4 you to make the weed whacker RC so you can sitt in a chair with a drink and still be trimming the lawn!

  • Gosh, I wish, I could.

  • You are the unknown member of the "A" Team LOL :-)

  • Haha. That is funny.

  • lol MacGyverism :D

  • Thanks kindly.

  • looks like flying an rc heli inverted with wheels :) cool mod sir.

  • maybe he should make a helicopter inverted prop with wheels and use a remote to do the job XD

  • LOL.

  • I did something simular to this about 15 years ago.

  • or you could just get a lawn mower

  • I have 3 lawnmowers and none of them get close enough to the fence and trees, hence the necessity for a weed eater too.

  • try putting caster wheels on it so you dont have to lift it up in order to go side to side

  • I tried that, and because of the rotation of the string, it kept pushing it sidways, and why I went back to inlines. Good thinking tho.

  • will my dx6i work on that or can i just use my 5 channel

  • yeah is it dx6i compatible?

  • RIght. LOL.

  • LOL.

  • What will you think of next?

How about a Brushless, 3 channel vaccum cleaner?

    LOL

That was a surprisingly entertaining video!

  • I appreciate that. Thanks.

  • another brilliant idea i did somthing simular when i was 12 my arms would feel like jello after 3 hours of weed eatting lol you da boss man

    Josh

  • Thanks very much, Josh.

  • When you have time to improve that design, you should consider some retracts ;)

  • Haha, gosh, complicated, then for sure, but sounds interesting.

  • Does that plane come in RTR or ARF?

  • more like Ready to Mow,,

  • Nightflyyer only uses planes.

  • No he doesn't watch ALL his vids, he also fly's helicopter, and there is a video where he drives an ancient RC car

  • I was kidding,

  • I know:P

  • LOL.

  • Haha. That is funny.

  • Very nice Dave, but I think a nice set of lights would realy finish it of.Thanks for all your great videos

  • Haha. Now your talking! Thanks.

  • Lol ,this shows just how good Daves vids are, i just sat through a good 3 mins of watching a strimmer cutting grass...... and still found it interesting!!! :D

Look forward to your next vid Dave.

  • Thanks. I appreciate your comments. Stay tuned for my Wind Generator video tonight.

  • so smooth and graceful nice flying Dave.

  • LOL Thanks much.

  • that is a really good idea and an arm saver

  • Thanks kindly.

  • put some wings on it and servos then you can sit on your porch and do so 3 point weed eating...lol

  • Aha..., now there is an idea.

  • OMG! That's pretty cool Dave, you should get a pattend for that ;-)

  • well he really can't patent it because they do make wheels you can add on to trimmers. I do like this idea though it's ingenuity.

  • I could, actually, because mine are only 1 ounce and not bolt on bicycle training wheels, as the others are, now that I have done a search.

  • ah ok cool, well maybe should try lol

  • Thanks kindly... I would, but right next door to the patent office, is the "Knockoff" office. LOL.

  • I bet everyone is thinking... If Dave put a prop and some wings on this thing, it would fly.

  • Haha....Your reading my mind.

  • lol thats so kool XD i should make this for my dad :P

  • It is very handy if you have a lot of trimming to do.

  • hahahaha he is playing tricks on us, that ain't no weed whacker, that is an airplane without wings LOL

  • LOL.

  • very smart

  • Thanks kindly.

  • I love how Americans call them weed whackers... in Aussie we call them whipper snippers. Great idea Dave

  • Haha. Thanks kindly.

  • nice idea!

  • Thanks much.

  • Nice job, they seem to even flex a little bit. Do you think you'll have to stiff it up a bit over time?

  • Thanks. Nope, The spring is actually nice, and it is very strong for the weight.

  • Good idea Dave =) good job.

  • Thank you much.

  • would had higher quality and durabliity if you had used regular wheels. Also would have rolled over anything alot more easily

  • Nope. These are solid rubber wheels and ss spring wire. It rolls very easily.

  • great idea

  • Thank you.

  • haha sweet dave..... im terd lol

  • Thanks kindly.

  • you could make a ton of money off of this is the companys want this "modification"

  • Maybe, but I am just showing what I did for myself. Others can do the same. Thanks for the comments.

  • great vid

  • Thanks.
