You know, there's something the Howe brothers are really missing with this tread technology: an emergency response vehicle for disaster scenarios.Trees fallen on the road? Avalanche buried the road? Not a problem, drive right over it to deliver whatever to wherever. Bonus points if it floats.
I would love to see a more realistic test of the ripsaw running over an IED (IED directly under track or directly under vehical between tracks while vehical is moving). Dont get me wrong, I am very impressed by the ripsaw I wish I had one, but I think it is a little too wimpy to survive real combat and obviously the millitary agrees with me and thats why they dont have any of thies when they are about 1/4 the price of a real tank. But I think the Howe brothers have a very bright future.
@gsxr750ia thats what I said. I have seen what 2-3ilbs of c4 and HME can do to purpose built armored vehicles.... let alone 24lbs of it. plus another 10Lbs of a mainly pusher type explosive? I understand trying to sell a system but you gotta know who your selling to.
This is impressive, but running over an anti tank mine was completely neglected. Nothing is indestructable, and that is a very real threat in Iraq and Afghanistan. If the enemy scores a mobility kill, your pretty much screwed when your ammo runs dry.
@magnesium111 it a Tankette what you want. the real fact in this Tankette. why are you driving the road in the first place when you could be driving anywhere else. were the ied are not at.
No way that was a 155mm, or 14lbs of C4. maybe 14oz. Those of us that seen either in action know this is either a wrong statement or that C4 didnt go high order.
@mudflap31 yep... I was there!!! it was 14lbs of c4 stuffed into the shell and another 14 lbs on the outside blasting it into the track and another 10 lbs of Am-B on the outside... If u watch the show it showed everything... We were as amazed as anyone... Its one tough track system...
@southberwick3 20 something pounds of C4 would have lifted that vehicle off the ground and flipped it.. unless the vehicle was, for some reason, bolted to the ground... No matter what, anyone inside would have been dead. 70 grams (about 70 paperclips) of C4 will punch a hole through 1/4" thick plate. Now multiply that by about 2560. The test was bogus.
Good concept test, but the track is not under a realistic working condition with the vehicle attached while running on land when the test is carried out so the test is still insignificant.
@tochbomb1 There is not weight on the track. Blow out the car shocks and the tracks will become loose and fall off. Real tanks do not use open exposed car shocks and springs. Real thanks use torsion bar suspension system or hydrostatic shock protected within the hull. This thing is nothing but a bullet magnet.
first its a 155mm and second it was filled with 14lbs of c4 with another 14 lbs of c4 on the outside pushing it into the track tester... yes it left more than a dent but much less than expected

Will it survive an RPG to the treads?

The proportions on the howitzer shell seem off, but still this shows that this platform can take a good bit of punishment.

check your scales, that was NOT 20 lbs of c4...sorry. I love the show, but get your ordinance facts straight please.
