  • Never heard about the CarMD but if you describe to me the features, I might be able to help you.

Yeah, I am Fil-Am dude but lived in Canada most of my life. Thanks.

  • Hi im a filipino too, i know your a filipino because of your accent. By the way, I have a CarMD diagnostic tool. Have you tried that, what can you say about CarMD? :)

  • Do these scanners work in a situation when my engine doesn't display the Warning Light?

  • @kitko33 Yes they do, One mode is vehicle diagnosis. also Pending codes. you also have mode 6 which displays active information when the engine is working. If you can read and compare thees readings you can see trends. this unit shown in the video also graphs some results to give a more comprehensive trend info. a PID Parameter ID displays things like voltage . temperatures. quantities on the scanner which you will learn to co relate to specification values

  • Good video! At 7.11 minutes into the presentation you are reading the Oxygen sensor AFTER The catalytic converter!! One common misread of scanner INFO is that the O2 sensor display is almost always as follows. O 2 sensor then BANK number then SENSOR number. The sensor after the cat converter does not fluctuate similarly to the one before which regulates the fuel ratio. Its function is to monitor the efficiency of the catalytic converter and report when it is out of a pre-prescribed range.

  • I just got the Autel MaxiScan MS509 for $58 USD from Tmart.com. I am very happy with this model. For detailed features and spec's that will help you make an informed choice go to Autel's web page.

  • nice sir does it also show different map sensor errors like low voltage high voltage disconnected etc thanks in advance -batang kotse

  • @dkxskineffect Please understand that the information you mentioned resides in the [ECM] engine control module Memory and the code reader allows you to access it. The ECU in most modern cars is a very complicated computer handling lots of data and controlling lots of things. It operates in many modes not only FAULT codes but also pending codes, Oxygen sensor monitoring, clear codes, component testing. vehicle information freeze frame, etc . you need a scanner to access these functions

  • I need a code reader for Diesel Fuel engine 2003 yr Mercedes Vaneo and Fiat can you help?

  • I need a code reader for Diesel Ful engine 2003 yr Mercedez Vaneo and Fiat can you help?

  • good video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hi 65kotse78, i want to say first of all Thanks for the video. i have one question, my chip in my key has failed so now my immobiliser will not permit me to start my engine, so my question is will this device help me out with the immobiliser in some way? i.e read the immobiliser's frequency? or maybe the device can make the fuel injection engage without the immobiliser being de-mobilised? As you may know, a new key from the manufacturer's is EXPENSIVE!! Anyway, Thanks once again.!

  • @AHillLuke The scanner being shown here can only be used to find the codes and possibly fixed them depending on the problem. When you have an immobilizer problem, scanner such as this won't help you. What you need is a computer programmer that will set a new code (like a passwords) to your key. Unfortunately, you need a new key that is programmed to your engine computer. Dealers can do that for you when you give them the serial number of the vehicle.

Some small garage can also do it but beware

  • i ordered this scanner hope it works good

    thanks

  • Thank you for your effort in instructing us on the benefits..appreciate it

  • @ChooseHeaven

No problem. This video was meant to help but thanks for your compliment.

  • I bought an inova 3120 does both 1&2 and got it for $150

  • @xXwhygodwhyXx

I saw Innova 3120 here in Calgary but it sells for $249 can funds. Where did you buy it for $150? That's a good price and it's really great coz you can use it for both imports OBD1 and OBD2.

  • @65kotse78 looked at google shopping

  • hey man so its works fine???? its read error and delete theys etc????

  • @coke3kkk

You bet Dude ! You will get more features if the scanner cost ABOVE $200 or more.

  • will it work on all european cars??????????????

  • there is no such thing as 2 different types of oxygen sensor, unless you they are wide band, they are the same for the upstream and downstream. The reason why the the downstream is not flunctuating is because the catalytic converter is doing its job by sonsuming most of the oxygen thus making the oxygen sensor not flunctuate as the upstream. Even, if you see upstream and downstream oxygen sensor flunctuating the same that does not mean your catalytic is faulty.

  • thanks for the informative video, helped me a ton 8)

  • 10+

  • What if your engine light is not on but the vehicle is running slugish not as good as it used to would this scanner be able to point you in the right direction. For example if the cats were not working properly would the scanner tell you? I've been looking at the Actron CP 9180 which is somewhat comparable to the MS589 which one in your opion would be best to purchase? Thanks.

  • @lousep1964

With the scanner, you can monitor the post oxygen sensor which indicates the efficiency of the CAT (catalytic converter). Thanks!

  • @lousep1964 Your perceptions are not always reliable for vehicle performance. Temperature, air density, octane, elevation and on board performance memory contribute to how your car works. The way a car starts can give some clues. work with the raw data you scanner can provide such as both fuel trim values, Air intake in grams per second, spark advance response, coolant temperature, mass airflow intake temp so on. try cleaning your mass airflow sensor and check o2 sensor oscillation rate

  • Nice video I'm looking to buy one of these I just replaced my intake manifold on my 2000 Crown Vic after all was done I had to take it to the Advance Auto Parts store so they could read my codes. My check engine light was on. The scanner said there was a fault a cyl #4. I checked it and found a o ring had been damaged it had a very small nick in it. But the scanner pinpointed to the problem area saving me alot of time, money and headache. This is money well spent if you like to do it youself.

  • Thanks for your comments! If you decide to buy a generic engine scanner, always ask the vendor for a scanner which can be used for your car's engine. Also, it must have a return guaranty so that if you try it and found out it does not work, you are able to return it. The engine scanner shown in this video is actually my 2nd one because the first one sold to me was defective after I tested it.
