@MarlonskiFan Moroder is european too if you havent noticed yet mate, actually an italian austrian, thats pretty much as close to eurotrash/eurodance as it gets.
IRENE CARA ALONG WITH GIORGIO MORODER PROUDUCED THIS AMAZING ALBUM WHICH IS A TURE CLASSIC WITH HITS LIKE THIS ONE, WHY ME, FLASHDANCE, THE DREAM AND MY FAVOURITE (BUT NOT A SINGLE) ROMACE 83. WE WANT IRENE BACK!!!
Beautiful chord progression...wish people would classify stuff that moves them and not just call it 80s then mabeye ther'd be more moving music made today...the 80s were trying to move you and be innovative, they weren't trying to be 80s
I don't believe that the best music came from the 80's but there were thousand of good ones like this one that I remember dancing and singing like a mad dog. kkkkk - Now listening to it again it makes me sure it was made only for the 80's - Impossible to cross the years and last forever.
It just makes me remind those good old days when I was 15.
Gotta love the 80's!!! Hahaha...I definitely remember this song, a big hit, but never realized it was Irene Cara. Lord knows I never missed an episode of "Fame."
I wasn't implying that she was in the TV Show (she played Coco only in the movie) but she did sing the theme song featured at the begining of every episode. So because of her role in the movie and her music being featured in the series I always associate her with "Fame."
I just wanted to add that althoguh she was not a regular cast member on the tv show "Fame" she made a guest appearance once to promote her "Why Me?" release...so to say she was NEVER on the show is incorrect.
I loved this song back then, even though they never played it on the radio in charlotte, nc. but I don't think I realized how serious those synths are - pretty hard club track.
Oh yeah!--This song was such a staple song of our crowd in the 80's.I remember the synths in this song were sooooo kool.I still wanna grab my leg warmers and 3 stripes when i hear her voice even today.
This song and "Let The Music Play" by Shannon were songs definitely ahead of its time for 1984. While most dance synth songs were more primitive like Human League's Fascination and Men Without Hats' Safety Dance.
It's real shame that neither artist had as many hits & a singing career as long as say Taylor Dayne, Expose, or Jody Watley for an 80s dance artist.
Surprise this wasn't in the 1983 Scarface soundtrack...the production Giorgio Moroder made here was similar to his production with "Turn Out The Lights" by Amy Holland. Especially the synth/electric guitar part at 1:25-1:40.
I love Breakdancing. Wish I could do it though

That's why the 80's were great. Everyone was happy and no one was being a dickhead, because everyone was too busy dancing.

Giorgio Moroder was a genius. Very typical Moroder production with the sheering guitar intermingled with the synth bassline from 1:25-1:39.
