Just saw this movie and it's stupid as hell. The movie can't decide if it wants to be a romantic comedy or a harcore action film and it does a poor job in incorporating the different genres. Some of the fighting is really nice though, but the story too bad to matter. I'm thinking anybody that likes this must be a big teeny bopper fan because that's what I sense when watching this. Now I know why the martial arts community ignored this film.

This is similar to Liang Shan Bo Yu Zhu Ying Tai but in the beginning of the movie the narrator said that it is the recarnation of their love, it is suppose to be the 10th life cycle. The story is Butterfly Lovers combined with Romeo & Juliet.

Is the movie originally in cantonese or mandarin? I have the movie and I have read somewhere that either language is dubbed for Charlene Choi and Wu Chun.

I watched the movie in both Canto and Manda. Charlene sounds natural in Cantonese and Wu Chun sounds natural in Mandarin.

Which language is the dubbed one for the characters?

Charlene was speaking Canto while everyone else was speaking Mando when filming. At first everyone was planning to dubbed both Mando/Canton but because of schedule conflicts they were unable to do so. LOL, I watch it in both language too since it has eng sub.

Oh wow, so while filming Charlene was the only one acting in Cantonese? Yea, her dubbed Mandarin voice was very annoying. Wu Chun sounded much better in Mandarin, glad it's his natural voice!

This is not a drama but a movie. the last memorable butterfly lovers movie is ten years ago done by Yang Chai Ni and Wu Chi Long.

this is the hong kong version, as was the last one. There are lot of different versions of butterfly lovers since it's a story as wellknown as Cinderella in China.

It is somewhat similar BUT the director wanted to add some twist in it! Hope you enjoy the movie since Mags has been rating it a 5 stars, fans expressed that it was good. Lucky for you, I have to wait for the DVD.

interesting trailer and cast choice. i'm a huge fan of the nicky wu version; this version seems a bit darker, but nonetheless promising. it seems as if hu ge will be playing the antagonist here rather than his usual hero-like roles. even more interesting...

really in the Butterfly Lovers story, the main dude can't fight only the woman knows how to fight, but in this movie, making the main dude fight is so much better n look a lot interesting then the old Butterfly Lovers too

since the story of the butterfly lovers is a well-known chinese legend and already several hundred years old, you can't really call it a spoiler. that would be like as if you saw a trailer for a new romeo and juliet version and then complain about juliet dying. XD

it is coming out on September 11th, yeah this Butterfly Lovers is suppose to have lots of fighting. The director said that is one of the major difference from the past ones.

I hope I can watch this though I think it will not be aired in Philippines because first we can't understand Mandarin or Cantonese and second, we don't get any movies from asian countries unless its in english! I hope that Chun will make a movie with Jackie Chan and Jet Li! That would be really great! And so that Chun will be known around the world!

The main female lead was Charlene in the beginning BUT she was busy so it change to Gillian THEN it change back to Charlene. The director mention that he wrote the script only for Charlene so if gillian would have taken the role then he would have to write a new script. IMO, The role suit Charlene more than Gillian anyways.
