It reminds me of a time that one Christian Mong told me that their church believes that Mong was San Miao because they think San Miao was from Samuel. I was shocked on how Mong [Hmong] was so lost, and started to claim their roots to Israel. The problem is that the name "Mong" existed at the Yellow River Basin over 2700 years ago. Chistianity is a good faith, but we need to preserving the Mong heritage.

@califazn08 Sorry for not getting with you sooner. Those who admit to the name Mong, Mo, Mu (or A'Mong A'Mo A'Mu) all speak similar Mong. However, some have a much more different version than the Mong in the west. Those that can speak very close to Mong live around Guiyang and to the west. They can be found at Anshun, Duyun, Nayong, Liu Pashui and many more mountain towns into the far west Guizhou. This town is outside of Nayong. Those on east Guizhou can also, but much harder to understand.

@LosyeeJ You will have to be more specific so we can understand which “Chu” town you are referring to. The term “Chu” is a western spelling for “zu” or “ju” because they cannot pronounce them correctly; and “Mǎn” is present-day Mandarin language for “Máng”, “Mo”, “Ma”, and they are different transliterations. “chu” in Mǎnchu is not the same Chu of the south. Mǎn in Manzu is not the same as Mán of the south.

They are obviously Hmong, since "plaub hau," "tes," "taw," "phlua," etc. are still pronounced very much like Western Hmong pronounce them. But much of these Hmong's vocabulary --- due to lack of contacts with those in Laos --- has marched on to a different and diverging route from the Hmong in Laos, in Thailand, and, now, in the West...
I'm proud 2b Hmong. No matter what country we belong to as a citizen, we are Hmong. No matter what Hmong Dialect we speak, we are Hmong. Our custom,culture,folk songs etc.. will bind us together as one and ONLY ONE HMONG. Remember the roughly 12 million Hmong in the world, 9 million are in China. I visited Anshun City, Kaili, and Xijiang (all in Guizhou) and I was in tears becasue I felt like going back into time.
I encourage all of you to make time to visit our people, see how poor they are, and do something to help.
it take a bit to to sound out but once you get use to the accent most of what they say is understandable. Fact is all Hmong call themselves Hmong. They however acknowledge that in Mandarin the term Miao is use to discribe them. Such as Europeans used Indian to describe the native americans. They acknowledge the term in English but they don't call themselves Indian in their language.
