I believe nuts beans and starch is the cheapest you can put together. You need protean starch(corn is cheap) some greens you can grow in your garden. Get a shot gun for protein.

The problem with giving care packages is that people always try to take advantage of generosity. When they need a second helping, you're the first door they'll knock on. I'm to nice in most situations and go above and beyond to help people. I only hope that if the SHTF and I am in survival mode that it will not be so hard to put my foot down and say NO you should have prepared for yourself. I don't have a wife and kids, if I did, I imagine it may be easier to say no to others for their sake.

My friends at work think Im paranoid and laugh at me. They tell me that I am going to hoard all my silver, food and durable goods and then nothing is going to happen and if it did, all that stuff is not going to save me. They avoid me and call me crazy. So I feel your pain. I dont talk to them anymore on this..I keep it to myself and I told them "if the SHTF..dont come knocking on my door, cause the only thing you are going to get is a 12 gauge in your face. It would be limited at best. I just dont have enough cash to buy stuff for the neighbors, and stuff doesn't grow well here so no bountiful garden. A little but not enough for 4..

I have tried to tell my family and friends about prepping, etc, they don't want to hear it.
I have a few friends that do prep limeted basis, but they are pretty far away from me, and still dont want to hear it. I dont preach constantly, I just try to tell them where to go for info, Etc.
this is a tough question. i think the "go away bags" are a good idea but, don't forget that there is value in people i.e. extra hands to help, knowledge and special skills,or a fellow security guard for your home. and when the day comes they have to come to you and say "my god you where right please help me!" imagine their inclination to shut the hell up and follow orders. i say if they have something to bring to the table..come on in. if they are dead weight...enjoy your bean bag.
i would NEVER give ammo or guns in the care packages because if they know you have lots of stuff they will come back with the same gun you gave them and possibly kill you, i would stick to only food in the care package.
I am going thru the same thing. That is why I have learned survival skills. I can farm, know which plants and weeds are good for medicine, how to collect seeds, can hunt, can sew, dye clothes, and many other things. I have told people all the time. Learn to do this or that. One day you may need it. My husband has listened and some of my brothers have listened. Everyone else thought,"oh right, sure. uh huh. whatever."
For a long time now people keep awaiting the collapse. I do not believe that a so called major collapse is coming. Instead the worst case scenario is just more of the same. Steadily declining wages, a steady increase in the concentration of wealth, a steady loss of individual rights and a steady rise of the police state. Stop waiting for some kind of disaster.

It is nice that you would send people away with a care package. You may want to think about the fact that if you have told a bunch of people about this and have told them you are preparing that they just might come and try and take your stuff by force. People need to wake up! And the sad truth is, that some, not matter how much evidence is given of impending disaster, will sit idly by and wait for their gov't to help them! You are right on point posting this video. I think there are alot of us that are awake to what is coming and the natural reaction is to warn those we care about. However, many of them think we are going overboard and that our views are over the top. I have the same concerns about those I have warned for a couple of yrs and they blew me off. I'M SORRY...I WILL NOT sacrifice the well being of my children in order to help them when the SHTF!!! Sadly,they should have prepared as I did
I said in another comment that if I want to end a conversation with a friend or family, I start talking about the economy! I now give my sister "gut aches".

Obviously there are going to be hard decisions to make. There is no possible way to help every friend, family member, co-worker. However, I believe there are ppl we have obligations to, such as mothers/fathers & other close family members. To sit & watch them die while I have food stored for months out I believe would be evil & I believe I would survive but loose my soul.
My experience is that a lot of ppl are already in high stress situations, so to think of things getting even worse, they cannot handle it.
I have already resolved myself to the fact I have at least a minimum of 3 ppl I will be helping that do not currently live in my home. I include them in my head count & planning as far as how long my storage will last. But there are at least 3 other family members that we could not turn away. Many more friends & extended family that I might have to say no

She said no, so I told her from 2007 to 2009 Canadian taxpayers paid $350 billion just in interest on the debt.
I asked her if the US Federal Reserve Bank was a national institution or a private bank.
She did not know, I told her the Fed is a private bank that is owned by private banking families, most are European. The Rothschilds are at the top of the list.

One of our biggest problems is that the owners look for stupid and/or corrupt people to run for political office. The stupid people are easily manipulated and controlled and the corrupt people are only interested in power and money.

I have some friends that never called me back after I told them what I was preparing for. My family doesn't think I'm crazy though. They aren't really preparing, but they are facilitating our preparations by giving my wife and I a place to stay while we get our land set up. This saves us about 12,000 dollars a year. I have made it clear to them that the land is for the whole family when this happens. I think they appreciate that.

Yes I have the same experience. They call me crazy, negative, paranoid, and providing the proof doesn't help. U cant store all the food that your family needs. Don't discuss ecoomy with friends. Teach your kids how to trive (not survive).
Kids can create gifts. Air dry herbs such as mint (for tea), cilantro, rosemary, thyme, even apples (no electricity). Place dried rosemary in a small jar. Label Dried Rosemary. Ingredients: Rosemary and Love
Plant some Goya whole peas in a (self watering) pot. When shoots reach 2 inches place bow on pot & give as present. Shoots can be eaten raw or stir fried
Remember your friends have no skills. Even if you gave a friend 50 pounds of potatoes. What would happen? Your friend would eat them all and let the rest rot. The friend would be back looking for more food. Your friend wouldnt know enough to plant some of those potatoes (under ideal circumstances) thereby producing enough potatoes for the rest of his life.
Spend your time teaching the kids how to gather, produce and save food. What if you are forced to leave everything behind.
You shouldn't have to deal with them. Don't do care packages. If you give them care packages, they'll just come for more when they run out. If I was in that situation, I would tell them to get lost because they didn't listen in the first place. Unfortunately, most people want to hear good news as opposed to the truth. You can't punish yourself and your kids because some friend or relative didn't want to listen.

Most friends and family I try to talk to about the economy or dollar are completely disinterested. They won't even ask why or where can they learn more. Just change the subject and pretend nothing was said... that's usually how it goes.
Tyrone, same with me. I talk to close friends and they really just have nothing to contribute. I dont know if they think I'm a crazy person, or if the truth is too much for them to tackle head on. I was telling my wife about this the other day. My parents wont listen, and a couple of close friends that I've spoken to seem to get in touch less. It hurts. But I wouldnt risk putting my reputation on the lin unless I thought I was right. I'm a very normal person.
If something does happen, help them through leadership. In the end knowledge will ultimately be power. Don't give them fish, teach them how to fish. Give them the knowledge they will need to survive. Running people off will only hurt you. There is power in numbers, you never know when you will need a helping hand.

our plan? idk. we have two young kids, we are underemployed. can't afford guns, ammo, so on.and i have rich relatives who just spend their money on tvs, cars, and so on. and they don't want to see any other reality.
but i understand about not wanting to see your kids starve. i say, follow your heart. ask the Creator to guide you. there is strength in numbers.
That's not going to work because if they know you have food and they are starving, all bets are off. You need to stop telling everyone you know that you have stores. Also, if you are prepping, you are preparing for after the storage ends (i.e. gardening, chickens, maybe goats) and so you will possibly have the ability to help others set themselves up as well once the animals start having babies and the vegetables seed. IT is tough, but again you've done what you could be warning them.
What would I do? I would move back to Texas onto my family's ranch and live off of the land for as long as possible. Humanity has done it for thousands of years. If you truely think about it, it's only been 100-115 years since America has seriously lived off the land. Unfortunately, everyone now days rely on Wal-Mart or such stores that when the economy DOES colapse, no one will know what to do. All I can say is THANK GOD that I was raised as a Redneck

I was shocked when I was talking to a friend and family member last week about the building situation and they said that they would rather die then struggle in the coming events.
Others said that they would rather go to jail and be cared for if things got to bad. Very disturbing! I said, so be it for now but I'll still keep trying to wake them up.
Look at what is happening in Haiti and ask yourself what will happen when the people around you are hungry and they know you have food? How are you going to protect your family? People will not take no they will just take....

I've experienced similar alienation from friends that I care much about. I think deep down inside, they know people like us are right, but they have invested so much belief and happiness in the way things are, they refuse to believe any other future scenarios. They are about to learn a hard lesson in basic biology. While it may pain you to see friends suffer, just know that you did the best job you could to wake them up. What we do with that information is up to us.
I agree you should be discreet, if they cut your hours at work, use that time to learn a new skill, or take a class, be solution oriented, and take it one day at a time, and dont forget that this is a sincere thing not a serious thing, we still need to learn to enjoy our lives no matter what.
We're on a sinking ship..You can only suggest the need to move towards the lifeboats..The survivors will suffer more than those who perish. Gold, Guns and food will keep the body alive..You MUST pray for strength of spirit, for what the eyes will see, will surely scar the mind.
thankfully my family has at least listened to what I have to say about the economy, food, precious metals, etc. Whether or not they prepare or not, i'm not sure, but they at least give the courtesy of listening to what I have to say. it could also be that people are so stressed out about the economy, personal finances, etc, people get obsessed with that and sometimes don't have the leisure time to gab that they once did, some have isolated themselves
Yes my friend; my family and friends are the same way. I too have fantasized about the very same things. We must now stop trying to help or inform them. Accept them for who they are and make our own preparations.
Great video, and first you should prepare for you and your family, once you think you have everything ready for yourself as best as possible, help your friends if you want to, they well bring you down thou so teach them a little of what you know, give them some simple and basic supply's and let them survive on there own, and if they are very helpful and don't keep you back then keep them around if you want, but remember you can't save everyone.
LOL. I'm going to make some future vids on this subject. As time grows so will the "care packages". Each care package I hope to make at least a 2 month survival pack for people. We'll see. :o)

hey demcad. u should not care about the people u warned them and they ignored u. i did try to warn many people to prepare for the economic collapse and they called me a nut man. take care of yourself and your family. let them learn the lesson. that is life and that is the only way they will ever learn - experience.
5 kids? 50lb bags of rice and pintos!!! i'm dealing with this too, family friends co-workers...how do you NOT tell someone what's coming? i send all the articles with proof of the coming collapse and yet people laugh and mock me and think they can keep wearing their hats backwards and watching american idol and having fun at the bar etc....all i can say is don't call me once SHTF. i will forward bug out spot info to a few and if they can't make it? you're S.O.L have fun in the happy camps.
i think the best help you can give them is to copy survival info, medical info, gardening info, and water purification info on flash drives...mail each member of your family one and wish them well. when they show up at your door because they didnt heed the warnings and the obvious visual evidence all around them, offer them a meal at your table tell them farewell.....
@xxpnoyjestrxx Yeah i had the same idea, the water you can get from anywhere even if its dirty you can boil it and it well be very clean with no diseases or viruses, I'd check on google earth for good forest areas with not many people around and with a water source near by, wouldn't be hard to survive at all, the next step would maybe be building a small cave so the new heat seeking drones and choppers don't see you, sounds weird but better safe then sorry, good luck.
I think you're a smart guy who is well informed, so don't take this the wrong way. But maybe you're associating with the wrong type of people. If these people want to kill the messenger, maybe you should bring your message to different people.

my wife had been hinting around that shed like a different vehicle for her birthday and mothersday...i was ok with it since we had been driving a 19 yr old car....but said wed go look in a week...on mothers day i put a set of keys in a jewery box and put it under her pillow....she ran out to the garage and found a nice new broom with a bow on it...hahaha...boy was she pissed...i waited till noon to have my brother drive the car over...
I have a sister and a brother that have disowned me over this. And I was nice and gentle too. My dad is the only relative that has called me in 2 years and he's onboard.
Same scene with me, but I take the abandonment by friends and family as a bit of a blessing. When things get rough, it makes it easier to say no. Its a lot like believing in God and they dont...ya gotta cut em off. Easier said than done of course, but your imediate family comes first and plan out how you will act when they do and stick to it. Otherwise, you'll get run over. You'll know what to do when the time comes. Remember, you are not alone...just look at all these comments!

I have had the same problem. It started 3 years ago when I started warning my friends and family about the pending collapse of the economy. They were polite in telling me that I was off my nut. Many of them have lost plenty including 2 homes. They think its over and will not accept the plain truth right in front of them. My plan is this, I have not told anyone that I have been stocking up on food, wood and ammo for 18 months. My wife does'nt even know. Thats the plan I have for my family.
This is so true, people just seem to keep ignoring the facts when i speak about the economy. I think with many of them is a "PRIDE" issue with them. They take on the "it cant happen to me" type of attitude...

People who cannot accept the coming economic decline definitely won't be able to handle knowing what is really happening to humanity and this great planet. One reason to warn potential beggers to say "hey, I did what I could for you and ignored me; so you reject my help before and end up in a mess, and now want to take advantage of me because you know I prepared." This neutralizes their sense of entitlement. Everything after that is a benefit they know they don't deserve. I'd explain how I sold all my watches and key possessions to buy the goods, with great sacrefice. I will SELL items I can at very fair and reasonalbe price, or for work done.
My father thought I was completely insane because I had plastic packing crates of food in my kitchen going into storage. My wife knows the whole store, but has grown to despise me do to a few months of clutter for prepartion in our home. My close neighbors have been informed and will do NOTHING. In short, no matter how smart at work, they are STUPID and short-sighted when it comes to any situation that is not here now. Doing whats right has been a huge personal sacrifice and reaped scorn.
RE: what to do with the "grasshoppers" who don't plan for the coming economic winter... well, put them to work. Shelter is basically free, so you can let them flop at your house without much loss of resources. And just get them doing something productive that can compensate for the food loss. It should still be possible to earn enough for meals, even in a collapse. Tho the elderly and infirmed will be difficult to care for.
I think they just want to IGNORE the message more than anything. Because acknowledging the message means having to possibly change their lifestyle. Good post.

Same things happens to me. I get blank stares, anger or people want to change the topic. So, I prepare for myself and my son. I do get the feeling that they think I am causing it. And hate me too. So, I don't bring it up too much except for a few people. Plan--gold, silver. food, Not helping anyone but family
Helping people is great, But if it hits the fan these same people will knock at your door first, If they even THINK you have a small stockpile it will only be a matter of time before they become mobs and kick down your door. Arm yourself to protect you and your family. Friends and relatives will not be the only problem.
Many people don't want to hear the present truth of the financial situation in the U.S. But once the economy really falls and the routines of their lives are severely disrupted and their stomach pains from hunger begin to overrule their reason, they will become a dangerous bunch.
Try to encourage family and friends to store supplies whether they believe what you say or not. Pray for them.

Yeah man, it's definately a tough pickle of a situation that we all find ourselves in. My suggestion is to do what the Holy Spirit tells you to do. When Jesus was laughed at, ignored, and eventually persecuted and killed (for trying to help others to see the truth) He blessed them and prayed for them. Even the apostles, the ones who God Himself called His personal friends, when they abandoned Him in Gethsemene and one even denied ever knowing Him, them He forgave and saved.
The problem is that two adults cannot do all the work that is needed. You will need to think past your rations and stores, all the work of gardening, hunting and gathering plus protection. Some of these problems need around the clock attention. Most agree you will need at least 6 adults minimum. Secondly I also understand how hard it is when close ones dont listen. You can lead a horse to water, but you cant make it drink. If it becomes as bad as some guess, we'll all have tought choices..
I wish we had a better idea of the timing of this thing. I hate the feeling of it looming over my head day in and day out. Do you all think it is years away or imminent? Single mom here, prepping and stressing...and family/friends think I am nuts -- everthing SEEMS okay right now, they just don't understand why I am concerned. Makes me second guess my gut feelings sometimes.
If I personally had to put a figure on it, I would give it 4 months before we start seeing some major panics..... But it always seems 4 months away.... There is just so much down turn right now.

If you want to see what will happen when the SHTF take a look at haiti.After 2 days of collapse, society is being runned by gangs and militias(gun owners). There is no government relief because bodies are being lined up as barriers on roads to take the supplies. Now picture that happening in 100 US cities. Many counties would love to see us fall and only will send troops to protect their investments. What will happen when foreign troops are setting up checkpoints on our roads?
Good points. I don't know honestly. I think some Americans would go attacking foreign troops, others would run away, but I'm really not sure.
Of course this would mostly happen during an economic "jump off the cliff". If the economy goes by a "death by 10,000 paper cuts" scenario (I guess like the Soviet Union or Argentina sort of) then govt services will remain in place. Only the future will tell.... Thanks for the comment.
Taking unemployment out of the equation i don't expect anything happen until end of 2012. They provided enough money to the markets for a short term solution. I predict a china crash before 2015 and this will be the time when the card house is falling.
Europe falls first, Japan next, Chimerica in 2015.
I think the survival of the collapse is highly dependent on its length. You mentioned about how you think it will last decades, and that may true. If that were the case, unless you already own and are working your land (organically) with no heavy machinery, you are pretty much doomed. Even if you are working the land, your going to need a hell of alot of people, weapons and ammo to secure it. That being the case, 99% of the people preparing are screwed.
A more realistic approach is to survive for a year or so because most of the population will be dead from starvation of some other reason. If one can make it past that, then you have a much better chance because there will me a lot more resources available live.
I am glad to see you on UTube again. People like to be happy and care free the news you carry makes sense to them and they rather to go on there carefree way and not hear about it.
I believe nuts beans and starch is the cheapest you can put together. You need protean starch(corn is cheap) some greens you can grow in your garden. Get a shot gun for protein.
The bad times should go by in 6 months are so at least that is what history teaches of course we let things really go.

The problem with giving care packages is that people always try to take advantage of generosity. When they need a second helping, you're the first door they'll knock on. I'm to nice in most situations and go above and beyond to help people. I only hope that if the SHTF and I am in survival mode that it will not be so hard to put my foot down and say NO you should have prepared for yourself. I don't have a wife and kids, if I did, I imagine it may be easier to say no to others for their sake.

My friends at work think Im paranoid and laugh at me. They tell me that I am going to hoard all my silver, food and durable goods and then nothing is going to happen and if it did, all that stuff is not going to save me. They avoid me and call me crazy. So I feel your pain. I dont talk to them anymore on this..I keep it to myself and I told them "if the SHTF..dont come knocking on my door, cause the only thing you are going to get is a 12 gauge in your face. Harsh, but they were warned!

It would be limited at best. I just dont have enough cash to buy stuff for the neighbors, and stuff doesn't grow well here so no bountiful garden. A little but not enough for 4..

I think its nice of you to give out a bag of stuff, but where are they going to go?
They will be camped in your front yard, or near your place, they know you have what they need to live.
I have tried to tell my family and friends about prepping, etc, they don't want to hear it.
I have a few friends that do prep limeted basis, but they are pretty far away from me, and still dont want to hear it. I dont preach constantly, I just try to tell them where to go for info, Etc.

this is a tough question. i think the "go away bags" are a good idea but, don't forget that there is value in people i.e. extra hands to help, knowledge and special skills,or a fellow security guard for your home. and when the day comes they have to come to you and say "my god you where right please help me!" imagine their inclination to shut the hell up and follow orders. i say if they have something to bring to the table..come on in. if they are dead weight...enjoy your bean bag.

i would NEVER give ammo or guns in the care packages because if they know you have lots of stuff they will come back with the same gun you gave them and possibly kill you, i would stick to only food in the care package.

I am going thru the same thing. That is why I have learned survival skills. I can farm, know which plants and weeds are good for medicine, how to collect seeds, can hunt, can sew, dye clothes, and many other things. I have told people all the time. Learn to do this or that. One day you may need it. My husband has listened and some of my brothers have listened. Everyone else thought,"oh right, sure. uh huh. whatever."

For a long time now people keep awaiting the collapse. I do not believe that a so called major collapse is coming. Instead the worst case scenario is just more of the same. Steadily declining wages, a steady increase in the concentration of wealth, a steady loss of individual rights and a steady rise of the police state. Stop waiting for some kind of disaster.

You may want to think about the fact that if you have told a bunch of people about this and have told them you are preparing that they just might come and try and take your stuff by force. You are right on point posting this video. I think there are alot of us that are awake to what is coming and the natural reaction is to warn those we care about. However, many of them think we are going overboard and that our views are over the top. I have the same concerns about those I have warned for a couple of yrs and they blew me off. What keeps coming to mind when I think of this is "What does it profit a man to gain the world, but loose his own soul"
Obviously there are going to be hard decisions to make. There is no possible way to help every friend, family member, co-worker. However, I believe there are ppl we have obligations to, such as mothers/fathers & other close family members. To sit & watch them die while I have food stored for months out I believe would be evil & I believe I would survive but loose my soul.

My experience is that a lot of ppl are already in high stress situations, so to think of things getting even worse, they cannot handle it.
I have already resolved myself to the fact I have at least a minimum of 3 ppl I will be helping that do not currently live in my home. I include them in my head count & planning as far as how long my storage will last. But there are at least 3 other family members that we could not turn away. Many more friends & extended family that I might have to say no

I then asked her if knew that the Canadian government can borrow interest free money from the Bank of Canada.
She said no, so I told her from 2007 to 2009 Canadian taxpayers paid $350 billion just in interest on the debt.
I asked her if the US Federal Reserve Bank was a national institution or a private bank.
She did not know, I told her the Fed is a private bank that is owned by private banking families, most are European. The Rothschilds are at the top of the list.

Those banks deposited that money (created out of nothing by the Fed) in the Fed at 2.5% interest.

One of our biggest problems is that the owners look for stupid and/or corrupt people to run for political office. The stupid people are easily manipulated and controlled and the corrupt people are only interested in power and money.
I recommended that she educate herself about the world.

Almost forgot, I told her about the global warming scam and how it was all about the global carbon tax. I explained that the Club of Rome (an NGO of the UN) came up with a plan in the 1970s to create a false global warming scam to bring in a worldwide tax. I recommended that she google it.

I have some friends that never called me back after I told them what I was preparing for. My family doesn't think I'm crazy though. They aren't really preparing, but they are facilitating our preparations by giving my wife and I a place to stay while we get our land set up. This saves us about 12,000 dollars a year. I have made it clear to them that the land is for the whole family when this happens. I think they appreciate that.

Yes I have the same experience. They call me crazy, negative, paranoid, and providing the proof doesn't help. It's the sheeple response, and I plan on letting them die lol I'll give them a small package of oats, and then run from them. Helping the sheeple won't be appreciated, indeed they will hate exploit and harm you. The scorpion who stung the frog who was carrying him across the river on his back. They will blame hate and kill the messengers a sorry fact that we had better not deny.

A few days ago, I placed a flyer on the bulletin board at work about the dangers of fluoride.
Someone then placed a flyer promoting fluoride use next to it.
I then placed an article containing recent reports from the American Dental Association stating that fluoride is a toxic poison.
Most people don't get it.

U cant store all the food that your family needs. Don't discuss ecoomy with friends. Teach your kids how to trive (not survive).
Kids can create gifts. Air dry herbs such as mint (for tea), cilantro, rosemary, thyme, even apples (no electricity). Place dried rosemary in a small jar. Label Dried Rosemary. Ingredients: Rosemary and Love
Plant some Goya whole peas in a (self watering) pot. When shoots reach 2 inches place bow on pot & give as present. Shoots can be eaten raw or stir fried

Remember your friends have no skills. Even if you gave a friend 50 pounds of potatoes. What would happen? Your friend would eat them all and let the rest rot. The friend would be back looking for more food. Your friend wouldnt know enough to plant some of those potatoes (under ideal circumstances) thereby producing enough potatoes for the rest of his life.
Spend your time teaching the kids how to gather, produce and save food. What if you are forced to leave everything behind.

You shouldn't have to deal with them. Don't do care packages. If you give them care packages, they'll just come for more when they run out. If I was in that situation, I would tell them to get lost because they didn't listen in the first place. Unfortunately, most people want to hear good news as opposed to the truth. You can't punish yourself and your kids because some friend or relative didn't want to listen.

Most friends and family I try to talk to about the economy or dollar are completely disinterested. They won't even ask why or where can they learn more. Just change the subject and pretend nothing was said... that's usually how it goes.

I was telling my wife about this the other day. My parents wont listen, and a couple of close friends that I've spoken to seem to get in touch less. It hurts. But I wouldnt risk putting my reputation on the lin unless I thought I was right. I'm a very normal person.

If something does happen, help them through leadership. In the end knowledge will ultimately be power. Don't give them fish, teach them how to fish. Give them the knowledge they will need to survive. Running people off will only hurt you. There is power in numbers, you never know when you will need a helping hand.

dude, i am so with you about the killing the messenger. i got called opinionated because i try to show people what is really going on.
our plan? idk. we have two young kids, we are underemployed. can't afford guns, ammo, so on.and i have rich relatives who just spend their money on tvs, cars, and so on. and they don't want to see any other reality.
but i understand about not wanting to see your kids starve. i say, follow your heart. ask the Creator to guide you. there is strength in numbers.

That's not going to work because if they know you have food and they are starving, all bets are off. You need to stop telling everyone you know that you have stores. Also, if you are prepping, you are preparing for after the storage ends (i.e. gardening, chickens, maybe goats) and so you will possibly have the ability to help others set themselves up as well once the animals start having babies and the vegetables seed. IT is tough, but again you've done what you could be warning them.

What would I do? I would move back to Texas onto my family's ranch and live off of the land for as long as possible. Humanity has done it for thousands of years. If you truely think about it, it's only been 100-115 years since America has seriously lived off the land. I was shocked when I was talking to a friend and family member last week about the building situation and they said that they would rather die then struggle in the coming events.
Others said that they would rather go to jail and be cared for if things got to bad. Very disturbing! I said, so be it for now but I'll still keep trying to wake them up.

I've experienced similar alienation from friends that I care much about. I think deep down inside, they know people like us are right, but they have invested so much belief and happiness in the way things are, they refuse to believe any other future scenarios. They are about to learn a hard lesson in basic biology. While it may pain you to see friends suffer, just know that you did the best job you could to wake them up. What we do with that information is up to us.

thankfully my family has at least listened to what I have to say about the economy, food, precious metals, etc. Whether or not they prepare or not, i'm not sure, but they at least give the courtesy of listening to what I have to say. And I will help my immediate family only (including parents and siblings) because without a group, what's the point of living? Great video, and first you should prepare for you and your family, once you think you have everything ready for yourself as best as possible, help your friends if you want to, they well bring you down thou so teach them a little of what you know, give them some simple and basic supply's and let them survive on there own, and if they are very helpful and don't keep you back then keep them around if you want, but remember you can't save everyone.

i think the best help you can give them is to copy survival info, medical info, gardening info, and water purification info on flash drives...mail each member of your family one and wish them well. when they show up at your door because they didnt heed the warnings and the obvious visual evidence all around them, offer them a meal at your table tell them farewell.....

@xxpnoyjestrxx Yeah i had the same idea, the water you can get from anywhere even if its dirty you can boil it and it well be very clean with no diseases or viruses, I'd check on google earth for good forest areas with not many people around and with a water source near by, wouldn't be hard to survive at all, the next step would maybe be building a small cave so the new heat seeking drones and choppers don't see you, sounds weird but better safe then sorry, good luck.

Same scene with me, but I take the abandonment by friends and family as a bit of a blessing. When things get rough, it makes it easier to say no. Its a lot like believing in God and they dont...ya gotta cut em off. Easier said than done of course, but your imediate family comes first and plan out how you will act when they do and stick to it. Otherwise, you'll get run over. You'll know what to do when the time comes. Remember, you are not alone...just look at all these comments!

I have had the same problem. It started 3 years ago when I started warning my friends and family about the pending collapse of the economy. They were polite in telling me that I was off my nut. Many of them have lost plenty including 2 homes. They think its over and will not accept the plain truth right in front of them. My plan is this, I have not told anyone that I have been stocking up on food, wood and ammo for 18 months. My wife does'nt even know. Thats the plan I have for my family.

One reason to warn potential beggers to say "hey, I did what I could for you and ignored me; so you reject my help before and end up in a mess, and now want to take advantage of me because you know I prepared." This neutralizes their sense of entitlement. Everything after that is a benefit they know they don't deserve. I'd explain how I sold all my watches and key possessions to buy the goods, with great sacrefice. I will SELL items I can at very fair and reasonalbe price, or for work done.

My father thought I was completely insane because I had plastic packing crates of food in my kitchen going into storage. My wife knows the whole store, but has grown to despise me do to a few months of clutter for prepartion in our home. My close neighbors have been informed and will do NOTHING. In short, no matter how smart at work, they are STUPID and short-sighted when it comes to any situation that is not here now. Doing whats right has been a huge personal sacrifice and reaped scorn.

RE: what to do with the "grasshoppers" who don't plan for the coming economic winter... well, put them to work. Shelter is basically free, so you can let them flop at your house without much loss of resources. And just get them doing something productive that can compensate for the food loss. It should still be possible to earn enough for meals, even in a collapse. Tho the elderly and infirmed will be difficult to care for.

Same things happens to me. I get blank stares, anger or people want to change the topic. So, I prepare for myself and my son. I do get the feeling that they think I am causing it. And hate me too. Helping people is great, But if it hits the fan these same people will knock at your door first, If they even THINK you have a small stockpile it will only be a matter of time before they become mobs and kick down your door. Arm yourself to protect you and your family. Friends and relatives will not be the only problem.
Many people don't want to hear the present truth of the financial situation in the U.S. But once the economy really falls and the routines of their lives are severely disrupted and their stomach pains from hunger begin to overrule their reason, they will become a dangerous bunch.
Try to encourage family and friends to store supplies whether they believe what you say or not. Pray for them.

Yeah man, it's definately a tough pickle of a situation that we all find ourselves in. My suggestion is to do what the Holy Spirit tells you to do. When Jesus was laughed at, ignored, and eventually persecuted and killed (for trying to help others to see the truth) He blessed them and prayed for them. Even the apostles, the ones who God Himself called His personal friends, when they abandoned Him in Gethsemene and one even denied ever knowing Him, them He forgave and saved.

The problem is that two adults cannot do all the work that is needed. You will need to think past your rations and stores, all the work of gardening, hunting and gathering plus protection. Some of these problems need around the clock attention. Most agree you will need at least 6 adults minimum. Secondly I also understand how hard it is when close ones dont listen. You can lead a horse to water, but you cant make it drink. If it becomes as bad as some guess, we'll all have tought choices..

I wish we had a better idea of the timing of this thing. I hate the feeling of it looming over my head day in and day out. Do you all think it is years away or imminent? Single mom here, prepping and stressing...and family/friends think I am nuts -- everthing SEEMS okay right now, they just don't understand why I am concerned. If you want to see what will happen when the SHTF take a look at haiti.After 2 days of collapse, society is being runned by gangs and militias(gun owners). There is no government relief because bodies are being lined up as barriers on roads to take the supplies. Now picture that happening in 100 US cities. Many counties would love to see us fall and only will send troops to protect their investments. What will happen when foreign troops are setting up checkpoints on our roads?

Of course this would mostly happen during an economic "jump off the cliff". If the economy goes by a "death by 10,000 paper cuts" scenario (I guess like the Soviet Union or Argentina sort of) then govt services will remain in place. Only the future will tell.... Thanks for the comment.

Taking unemployment out of the equation i don't expect anything happen until end of 2012. They provided enough money to the markets for a short term solution. I predict a china crash before 2015 and this will be the time when the card house is falling.
Europe falls first, Japan next, Chimerica in 2015.
But nothing is really imminent at the moment.

I think the survival of the collapse is highly dependent on its length. You mentioned about how you think it will last decades, and that may true. If that were the case, unless you already own and are working your land (organically) with no heavy machinery, you are pretty much doomed. Even if you are working the land, your going to need a hell of alot of people, weapons and ammo to secure it. That being the case, 99% of the people preparing are screwed.

A more realistic approach is to survive for a year or so because most of the population will be dead from starvation of some other reason. If one can make it past that, then you have a much better chance because there will me a lot more resources available live.
