If you look at the actual video of that play, you can clearly see ron gant was never stable on the base. He stepped on the base with one foot, and was putting his other foot on when hrbek first put his glove one him. That was the same time gant made contact with hrbek and started loosing his balance. hrbek simply kept the tag on. He would have been stupid not too. The instant gant came off the base, he was out, all the momentum that occured afterword was irrelevant. That's why you should slide.

You only quoted part of the article. The rest of the article goes on to say that both Ron Gant and Bobby Cox argued that Hrbek pushed him off the bag. Also, you have Tommy Lasorda who agreed at the time that Gant was pushed off. The fact that some and definitely not all the Braves players did this or agreed it was okay doesn't make it so. You can't justify bad behavior or cheating by pointing to other bad behavior and cheating. Breem shouldn't have gotten the call, either.

There is a statue of "Herbie" in St. Paul, but it is Herb Brooks the hockey coach of the three time Nat'l Champ U of M Gophers and the Gold Medal winning team in 1980, "The Miracle On Ice". He was born and raised on the East Side of St Paul. Kent Hrbek is from Bloomington, MN and as far as I know, doesn't have a statue made of him. He does have a park named for him in his hometown though.
