I must ask who is your teacher? I have been studding with Robert Yun-Hsun Young one of Jiang Chang Gen Senior Students. If you teacher studied under Jaing Chang Gen then I bet Robert knows or maybe has even taught your teacher.
yes, this is longfist (chang quan),this style was brought in taipei by a soldier,Han Qing Tang, about 60 years ago. this basic form are long reaching movements designed to strengthen the body, increase the flexibility of joints and develop the flow of internal energy. of course, they are somewhat exagerated and in martial applications, they are quicker and shorter, but the intention and internal energy process is to go far.
Oh I see, I am learning Tai Chi at the moment and I was taught to keep my body straight, so I guess that's why the first thing I noticed is the alignment of your body, it is very interesting to see the difference in the arts.
Very nice vid and explanation. i learned the lian buu quan from master Chen Jin-He in Taipei many years ago. ;-)
