Does anyone know where I can watch those shows such as Shazzan, Galaxy Trio, Johnny Quest, Birdman, Dino-Boy, Frankestein Jr., Thundarr, Zandor & The Herculoids, etc? And also I've always tried to get the songs from those Hanna-Barbera cartoons, I mean, not the theme songs from the main cartoons, but the songs played at action scenes, they used to play the same songs in all different HB cartoons.
I remember this bumper and have been searching for it years. I remembered running home from school specifically to catch this bumper in the spring of 1994. The music and the image of the Fantastic Four catching the bomb stuck with me for over 16 years, and I have been looking for this for the past few years, and this took me right back.
@SuperAdventures Yeah It might be 92-93, since I watched it from 94-95 and never saw this one. Do you have any other super adventure related material?
@toonhead2 Oh, so the block had different intro/bumpers after 1993? What do you recall seeing? In one of my 1995 CN commercial compilations (the first one; January 9 - January 18, 1995), there's a promo for the Saturday afternoon edition of SA, called "Super Adventures Saturdays". It shows characters from the H-B shorts superimposed over outer-space settings. Did the later intro/bumpers resemble that? That's the only other SA material I have. I got this intro off of fellow user "ToonTamasha"!!!
@SuperAdventures The video in your compilation I do remember seeing, and that commercial the font was used in a much shorter intro. Anyways thanks for the uploads.
@SuperAdventures - I believe you meant, TuneTamasha. Anyways, Super, are you going to upload more CN instrumentals? For those who don't know, this was taken off from the "Turner Music Library" set. Cartoon Network casualy used some some of the soundtracks for their IDs and Interstitials. (Example: The track used for the "Top Cat Song".)
I think the outer space look stuff was used for the intro and bumpers as well as the promos. I started watchng in 95 and I never saw this intro. In fact I'm surprised CN had enough money to actually create this animation. They used to use found clips so often because Ted Turner wouldn't give them any money.
@trapadoored Then this definitely was the 1st intro to the show, before the '94-'95 revamp.
It's just a 10 second clip, don't be surprised that Turner could afford that little. Just like their bumpers and promos, they probably farmed out the production.
I'm not surprised that Turner could afford it-I'm just surprised he actually chose to spend the money on CN-the Space Ghost guys said that was why they had to use old animation for coast to coast-Turner told them "I'll start giving cartoon network money when cartoon network starts making money."
-or maybe they spent their whole budget for original programing making "the Moxy Pirate Show"!
@trapadoored Yeah, I believe I read the same IGN interview with Mike Lazzo that you did...great read. For programming Turner may have been stingy, but for promotional efforts (which include the basic operational stuff of the network like bumpers and interstitials) I bet he was more generous, as some funding was needed to get the word out on CN.
you know what else is an interesting watch for all of us old school CN obsessives, they have here on youtube somewhere the original pitch tape that was "selling" cartoon network to cable providers. It's got stuff about demographics of how many adults watch cartoons and talks about Turner getting the Hanna Barbera library.
it's funny, though they had no show money, the interstitials and promos were what MADE CN so awesome back in the day. It was like old school Nick at Nite

Horray the Old Time Cartoon Network. More Classic. I don't like the new generation cartoons.
