  • saw them in Wolverhampton too :-) in Oct 2005

  • Mangini Fells Like A Baws!!!

  • Mangini is an amazing drummer, but I don't think he plays with the same clarity as Portnoy, I would of liked to see Donati replace him.

  • i am so glad i saw them "back in the day" on the "images and words" tour, in a small club.

    this song ruled!!!

    toledo ohio ftw!

  • I see some people saying "This song has nothing to do with Mike Portnoy!"....

DUH! This song was written by Portnoy and Petrucci.

  • Mike mangini has a perfect control of his hand^^

look at 4:31 during the drums solo, he is not doing the same solo of mike portnoy and i prefer this one, i have tried it and this is really hard to do but this is possible even that^^

make a rythm with a hand and a différent rythm with the others, only perfect drummers can do that!^^

  • @rushrulez1 remember at the toronto show when they DIDN'T play this song... I'm upset seen them 4 times and yet to hear this (my favorite) song by them

  • This song never dissapoints

  • Awsome tune and an awsome performance. Hey, does anyone else find it disturbing that I have to see an Obama ad when viewing youtube videos? Is this how low this man has sunk?

  • heee que hermoso mangini tocando metropolis....

  • Mike Port-who?

  • Check out Mangini's laughter after he can do in 4:30 the two take part with only two hands!

  • @drfernandoandres Unlike Mike Portnoy, who could only play it with his four hands... :-S

  • i was here right in the front row for this one, it was mind blowing!

  • John Myung's bass is like 3 meters long

  • i think this song is the most suitable song for labrie`s style in singing...-.-

  • Sweet Labrie doesn't sound like he ate a bad taco that day. XD

  • claro que es un extraterrestre magini !!!!

  • OMG LABRIE STILL GOT IT.

  • Fuck James sound so Freaking Good.!!

  • I think mike also misses DT, and he still fking beat mangini

  • @Knigge95 he plays em by using the slave pedals of two different double pedals.

  • MANGINI ES UN EXTRATERRESTRE...!!!

  • Just wondering, does Mangini play those two bass drums on each side? I'm not a hater, in fact I've been a fan of Mangini since before he landed on DT...

  • @anthrmthrfckr Ya he does. His kit is KIND of set up like Mikes. His set is almost symmetrical tom wise and i think he has different snares on both side as well as the main one and the auxiliary snare in the front so if he wants to use the high kick he can turn to his right and play that and still have somewhat of a smaller type kit for maybe a riff that he wants a smaller kick and different snare. Same thing goes for on his left side which has a huge kick.

  • MANGINI is the best!...............

  • Woohoooo!!! LaBrie is back!!!

  • One of my favorite songs of DT

@Dufflad08 You're absolutly right!! MIke Mangini is a part of the NEW CHAPTER of DT's History

  • @Arnaudbatfan Definitely! Not sure where he'll take the band.. hopefully to new heights, but they chose an amazing drummer to continue the band with.

  • Sweet jesus, LABRIE!!!! :D :D

  • LABRIE HAS RETURNED! obviously he'll never be mind-blowing as he was back in 92-93...but I'm happy with his voice

  • The only thing I dislike is MM's snare. Don't know if it's because of the camera, but I find its sound not as much energic as MP's :/

  • Can everyone stop comparing MP & MM! They're amazing artists/ drummers in their own rights! Mangini is.. or was....not too sure, a tutor at Berklee.. he is multiple genius'... or a genai.. (plural of genius)! & Portnoy is a mint song writer as well as a technical player constantly exploring new horizons which I admire, it's enough said that MP was self taught as well!

  • @Dufflad08 You're absolutly right!! MIke Mangini is a part of the NEW CHAPTER of DT's History

  • now i can sense that this is the best dream theater era ever! and they love James.LOL..DT 4EVER!!!

  • if there ever was a replacement for PORNtoy,it's Mike Mangini...i'm so happy :)

  • LaBrie is my hero!

  • lol don´t feed the troll :P

  • @Gyro911 Yeah, especially since it's 9 minutes. Those crazy 80's TV shows with their ultra long intro songs released three years after the decade ended!

  • I can hear Mangini saying "Uau!" at 12:03 ahahahahaha Thats Dream Theater Mike, only Dream Theater!

  • from 2:36 to 2:42, it does sound off, just my opinion

  • @wolfLonee Its the way LaBrie sings it, so it sounds different

  • Dream Theater not just only group of musician plays complex music but more exactly a group of talented people from musician, tech, lighting engineer, management.. I said this because i've watch behind the stage in Chaos in Motion DVD

  • Fuck man labrie sings like a god. Im shure he is very lucky that portnoy isnt any more in the band

  • I would like to see the "Budokan Instrumendly" with Mangini on drums, that would be fantastic!

  • Mangini is the fucking law!

  • Not really sure why people are saying it doesn't sound the same as Portnoy when it's EXACTLY the same as his parts and Mangini even sounds like he's added a couple of newer fills. In my opinion, you can't make this song sound better then it does right here

  • Still a great band, though not the same without mike!

  • YEAH LABRIE!!! I find it funny that Mangini played it one hand at 4:30 haha.

  • Dude, is there a chance you could share the original files? youtube decrease quality too much...

  • It's just not the same without MP...

  • @mrbeat1988 I agree, now we have precise sounding and great timing band!!!

  • @HommatTulilla Shure...

  • @HommatTulilla God you are an idiot... How can you say that?? Clearly you know NOTHING about drumming nor progressive music. Think before you comment man.

  • @mrbeat1988 Mike Portnoy is an excellent drummer, but he's nowhere near the pedigree of Mangini. Mangini is a master percussionist, can play any combination of time signatures against eachother, flawless technique, immense musical depth, and comprehension, and great style and feel. None of which Portnoy could lay claim to. Portnoy is great at odd time sigs, "quads" and "ruffs", and over-playing, often out of context. No comparison to Mangini.

  • @danlc95 If you read my comment, I never compared them in any way. Sure Mangini is a beast drummer, never said otherwise, but Portnoy WROTE this... That's it. I haven't seen any drummer write drum parts like MP, at least not yet... THAT my friend, has no comparison.

  • Uber lag :\

  • @1:56 LaBrie heading to the thermos: "Damn, not enough time to drink" XD

  • It's confirmed. Portnoy was keeping Labrie down. Maybe he wanted to become the lead singer... "DAY AFTER DAY, AND NIGHT AFTER NIGHT..." xD

  • @GianfrixMG lol

  • Idk I'm a huge DT fan but I don't think LaBrie sounds too good live... He has his moments but to me it's more of a pleasant surprise when he does :/

  • @MetalOnPiano after 20 years of singing high as hell pitches and NOT lowering the pitch as he grew old kinda takes it's toll.

he's older and is STILL hitting the notes he originally recorded, maybe with nto as much grace now but he's still a behemoth.

  • Mangini played Portnoy's parts exactly, even the drum intermezzo at 4:27

  • The IMAGES AND WORDS lineup with Mike Lee from Barren Cross... Oh the wonder!

  • doest matter he sound a bit better now , he still has that rooster screaming voice , DT would be a much better band without him . DT has the greatest music sound , if they had another singer im sure they would be a much better band.

  • Fuck yeah, James!

  • Mangini fits in seemlessly into the band. If there was no video I would think its Portnoy.

  • James, you're incredible. Fuck the haters.

  • LABRIE IS SOUNDING AMAZING!!!

  • ¿?.. James is far from the voice he had.

  • @MetalproF1 Agreed.

  • There is a video of Caught in a Web from a recent live show and he NAILS the "Try and push me 'round..." sections as well as the rest of the song.

  • I watched the whole concert just because LaBrie was freaking on fire that night! Keep it up James! :)

  • @RocketRalf man, where can I watch the concert in good quality sound/video? Thank you very much in advanced!! :D

  • @xFeloxX I don't have any other version, just this one from youtube

  • @RocketRalf but you said you watched the entire concert :/

  • @xFeloxX because it's all in Fetisov45's channel

  • @RocketRalf saw them in Toronto, he was spot on for that whole show too

  • I was there :D

  • Wow, LaBrie sounds really good!
