  • Most Americans anime fans have no idea what aired last night in japan, they only watch what they know exists.

  • Bottom Line, Americans get the Japans equivalent of Americans Fall line up which have extremely cheap licensing rights. Most American anime fans do not even know what Gundam is let alone its impact in japan.

  • you speak, entirely too much, and have entirely too little idea what americans will do to get anime that was aired last night in japan.

  • Excuse me...this American anime fan knows what Gundam is, and has a pretty good inkling as to what kind of pop culture phenom it is across the Pacific (that full-scale mockup of the RX-78-2 was kind of a tip-off). Admittedly, I just jumped on the bandwagon and have yet to work my way through the franchise, but I like what I've seen so far. And I'm talking about the original series, not SEED or Wing or whatever other series it is you guys are always whining about.

  • In the minds of US companies Anime is still a cartoon so they buy up the cartoonish animes while serious anime aka gundam, eva, macross, FMP, only get aired once in a blue moon. If ask the average American Anime freak what his favorite anime is you will find it is completely different then a Japanese anime fan is. Part of it has to do with Americans love with the new thing and marketing the other is and you will also notice that there favorite series change over time.

  • Most of the series that US companies buy licensing to are cheap money making series that can guarantee never ending product. I wont name names but lets say some of the Ninja Series that are popular now. The japanes companies pump out episode after episode with a never ending plot and reused material and gets sent to America were it aired. American Companies prefer these types of animes over animes that have a Beginning middle and end because they guarantee that they can milk it.

  • **CoughCough**Pokemon**CoughCough**

  • Grandangodang, the 80s and 90s were Gundams hey day. Now if we are talking about Japan then Seed is considered lackluster there and the original series is still more popular. Seed in Japan did not increase Gundams popularity because it was already an icon. Now if you are talking about US audiences then yes its popularity has risen but it has not salvaged it because Gundam in the US does not get the marketing that other series gets. If anything Seed was a filler series.

  • where is part 1 of this eoisode . tanx!!

  • CheckCheck I doubt you were in japan duriing that time period. The 80s were the Gundam Golden age and the first series that people in Japan wanted to watch in droves was not Seed but Zeta Gundam which is the direct sequel to this series. Zeta to this day is ranked as one of the number on Animes in Japan and the original Gundam is named number one on most polls.

  • checkcheck's point is not that fans (jap or west) would want to watch SEED; it's that since SEED came out, gundam's popularity has risen.

  • kai mocking saylah lol

  • at around 7:52 one of the tanks in the background disappear!

  • I disagree. As a 27 year old who was actually alive when Macross came out, and a fan of Gundam since the late 80s, I think that SEEd was a much needed rejuvenation of the series. It was the 1st series that the regular masses in Japan WANTED to watch, and but Gundam into a whole new league. Im about to watch Frontier, so we'll see what pretty boys are there. Hikaru was a sorta pretty boy though, lol.

  • seed did get sunrise some fame but the 90's was what the golden age of gundam was. especially the U.C. series . only hardcore fans actully watch the older ones now the new ones like seed are for the new generations but it is good to see gundam with cg for once.

  • SEED turned Gundam into a joke.

  • Where is the Guncannon?

  • Ha, that was awesome. Amuro lost his Sh*t!

  • Time 5:01 It looks like someone's mocking Sayla.

  • SEED is overhyped.Wing is the best.

  • Exactly. SEED took the ill-fated path that Macross took and suddenly incorporated overpowered God-Robots piloted by effeminate Emo prettyboys.

  • When did Macross ever have those things?

  • watch macross frontier.

  • seed owned so stfu >_>

  • It looks kind of hard to pilot a mobile suit but im sure i can handle it.

  • It seems Amuro has finally snapped.

  • For a prototype gundam, it sure is fast.

  • Nice to see the Magella in action.

  • This is better than seed

  • i have never seen seed... if you say this is better... then seed has to be a piece of s***

  • Regardless of how bad SEED is, original Gundam is probably the best or second best. SEED is just a rip off of this with name changes and with the bad guys having the upperhand at the start.

  • And Gundams suffering from Wing Syndrome, its like an Abrams going up against Shermans.

  • see now where is the reality in that...

    that's sad

at least an Abrams vs Tiger

  • Even the Tiger had better performance then the Sherman, the sherman need a 4 to 1 advantage to avoid becoming scrap metal. If only EF and Zeon didnt had crappy tank designs.

  • seed just have this soap-opera esq story-line and alot shit getting blown up.

  • maan... they should execute who ever made that damn cursed show... it doesn't deserve the name gundam.

  • Agreed, this series is very under rated.

  • 4:59 - 5:03 watch kai, it is funny

  • toward the end it looked like aumaro was trying to stop it from beating up the rubble. The thing is, if you've seen some other gundams like Gundam 00, you'll see that even if its power core is ripped out it'll keep going because its computer feeds off of your determination and fury.

  • Actually Amuro was still moving the controls. Universal Century mobile suits aren't manipulated by rage or determination. With the possible exception of suits equipped with pyscommu.

I don't recall Gundam 00 have any such system either.

  • What? The RX-78-2's core was never detatched in any way. Amuro was nearly knocked unconscious, and he went into a determined rage afterward, especially since he was so tired in battle. It had nothing to do with the Gundam, it was all Amuro.

  • cause he's a newtype

  • pauta9, amuro not a newtype yet.

  • wow gundam can run abit fast??

  • Thanks!
