This is the song from the 1986 American drama movie "Heartburn". It's a pity that this song isn't longer than 2 & 1/3 minutes. It should have been at least 4 minutes.
I have to research Carly simon and review some of her songs for school. at first i didn't like her, but now i think i do. i love how into all her songs she gets :)
I respect Carly Simon as a determined artist. Although she came from a wealthy background, she was determined to do her music and sing. She faced a lot of ridicule and had a bad case of stage fright to boot. She over came this and other unfortunate life events to be a stellar artist that gave the world profound and beautiful music.
I've always loved this song. Never noticed, though, how clearly you can hear that Yamaha DX7 in the song. Of course, the DX7 has a very distinct electric piano sound.
@leandroRR2010 A minha vida é muito bem cuidada, ao ponto de não me meter em comentários de outros assim como você fez com o meu. Ficou mordido por uma pessoa que te desconhece até como número de estastística populacional? Eu quero que você e ela se fodam!
One of my favourite songs from the 80's. Beautiful music and love her voice, sings clearly and has a powerful voice without the need for trilling and sighing, and singing 30 notes per word like run of the mill pop tarts do today.
No, I didn't grow up in the 80's, I grew up in the 70's. Relevancy doesn't mean a thing. The music of the 80's was far superior to that of the 70's. As for your assumption that the 80's were "unbearably corny," read the other posts. Apparently, you share that opinion with only yourself.
@Lynviking You really think the 80s were that good? I grew up on the 80s and have a certain special nostalgia for it. But even I wouldn't say how "superior the 80s music was to the 70s." The early 70s in particular produced some incredible music. This was when Carly Simon and James Taylor were producing some of the best music. You had Paul Simon going solo, Led Zeppelin churning out classic album after classic album. ABBA came out around '73 or '74.
I take all that all back because I cant never name a fav Carly song! OK so it is maybe. give me all night . but that's the way it always ends up for me I try to find her best but I cant because all her tunes rock and I just cant choose this way I can listen to Carly all night long and maybe by 4am I can remind myself I love all of her art.
@THEPOCONOJOECHANNEL Oh that's easy. Libby from Another passenger. A close second would be 'That's the way I've always heard it should be". If I had to pick a third it would be The right thing to do from No secrets. Like I said though, I love alll of Carly's stuff. She could sing the phone book and ti would sound better than half of the junk you hear today.
My fav Carly song even better than all of her other awesome tunes. I take that back it is I only have eyes for You! Wait I take that back it is give me all night! wait ok just give me all night to think as time goes by.
I have to listen to this because I just recently lost the f*cking game and it was with the ONLY person, at 30 years of age, I've ever been in love with, and I had to let them go because they weren't good for me. But I still pine for them, for life, I am afraid. Sigh.
That's power for sure heard it on the radio today and I tryed to find it on here but in chipmunk but is not there I would love this song in chipmunk or your so vain or both by her now if it was in chipmunk I would put on my channel because I am a major chipmunk fan gooooooooo chipmunks
Hah, this makes me was nostalgic for when I was just a little baby being taken care of by my parents and grandpa and playing with them (even though I hardly remember any of that--I have only seen home videos of me and my sisters with the people I knew then).
I love Carly Simon. I think I grew up with her music. It helped me when I was feeling lonely. Thank you for uploading this! :)
What a perfect song about real life, the way things really happen, how bad things really hurt and how we always some how see another day.........thats the difference between real music and the new crap
I always loved this song. It takes me to no-man's land where the air is fresh & everything is green & beautiful. I also liked the way she bumped her head towards the end of the video. lol lol lol
She's quite convincing when she sings " i believe in love". This song brings sadness, tears and joy. What a line..." there's more room in a broken heart"....Only time can heal hearts that are [ truly ] broken. Songs like this can serve as a guide to peace, acceptance, and understanding.
Some weeks ago, someone (a woman) called to the Spanish National Radio to ask about the title of this song. She only was able to "la-la-la -it", said that she was obsessed about the song, and wished to know the title and singer. I inmediately recognized the song, which I had listened for the last time more than twenty years ago (how could I remember it?), and called to the radio station to give the answer. Since then, I've learning more and more about this incredible artist.
just love this song tells it like it is for a die hard romantic and the realities of life. After 32 years marriage and the hope that one day it's "all coming around again"
Is there a story with this video? The guy she's sitting with at :30 is quite handsome, and then at 1:03 he looks comatose. Is there some kind of symbolism that I'm missing?
This song - and video - cuts me to the heart. I was a total ass to my true soul mate, who was unbelievably patient in waiting for me to grow up and come around. Instead I let her go and she has moved on and I regret it every day of my life now.
I posted a comment a while ago about the album I bought of Carly Simon and found it to be boring. It is just an honest opinion! I was actually critisized for that! I see lot of people like songs I consider "boring". Well, I believe we have different tastes on music. Apologies to Carly's fans!
@jaxgal618 well, maybe she was 'coming around again' in the 80's? I could not resist that. It's still a great song from a fantastic decade. Thumbs up if you agree
@deptford Could not agree with you more. The eighties are the best music of all time. Sure there was a lot of garbage but pop music seriously came of age in the eighties. I guess the baby boomers just grew up and got some discernment. Carly Simon is one of the most amazing talents in history.
You've got your head so far up your ass, it's not even funny. The music of the 80's blows away the shit we have today. The likes of Lady Ga-Ga , Justin Bieber etc etc., are shit compared to the 80's artists.
@Lynviking I think that's your way of saying, "I disagree with you" Fair enough. This is a great song, yes. Every decade produces some great stuff, but on a whole the 80's was unbearably corny; if you can't hear that then you're beyond help. I'm willing to bet however that you grew up in the 80's which explains a lot about your passion for the decade; perhaps objectivism isn't your strong suit. How many bands that came out of the 80's are still relevant today? Not one???
The movie was exactly like my life and what happened to me right down to the car she drove and color of the car. Amazing. I could not watch the movie Heartburn until 1 year after it came out I love this song and she is amazing A great video
I believe these personal family videos added to this video with this outstanding song is "The Best" she has ever completed in her career She is a sweetheart to the world and a outstanding singer, actress, songwriter, musician, and author. Thank You Carly!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is there any Carly SImon's song better than this one? I listened to her vest best album and was very dissapointed because: 1. COMING AROUND AGAIN was not there 2. All the songs except YOU ARE SO VAIN were so boring. Coming Around is so far the very best to me that Carly has made.
@hanyani123 Boring? You call Carly Simon songs boring? Shame on you. This woman has made almost only good songs, lyrically and musically. She's one of the most talented singer/songwriters ever!
These days you can download individual songs from the internet. If you're not a big fan of an artist in general - don't buy a whole album by them if you only like one song.
You ask if there's anything better by Carly out there than this song, you're at the wrong forum because most all people here are huge fans and what's considered better is completely relative.
I never saw the actual video for this song until today, but I remember when she did a live performance for an HBO special back in the late 80's and she performed this song. She was dressed in all white and I fell in love with this song as a child.
Amazing video! People just don't film those special moments while growing up with family anymore! She has a timeless collection of herself over the years.
What a beautiful song and video, I can't stop listening to it. It's worlds apart from the bs being produced now and called music.

I love this song by Carly Simon! They played this song on "Heartburn" with Meryl Streep and Jack Nicholson.

I believe these personal family videos added to this video with this outstanding song is "The Best" she has ever completed in her career She is a sweetheart to the world and a outstanding singer, actress, songwriter, musician, and author. Thank You Carly!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@billnseattle I agree, but... actress? Carly is not an actress. Name me any production in which she acted.

Is there any Carly SImon's song better than this one? I listened to her vest best album and was very dissapointed because: 1. COMING AROUND AGAIN was not there 2. All the songs except YOU ARE SO VAIN were so boring. Coming Around is so far the very best to me that Carly has made.
hanyani123 1 year ago
@hanyani123 Boring? You call Carly Simon songs boring? Shame on you. This woman has made almost only good songs, lyrically and musically. She's one of the most talented singer/songwriters ever!

@hanyani123
