Screw that, You may not enjoy his tone, but LaBrie is responsible for some of the most ridiculous notes in the past 20 years, aswell as the ability to perform over 3 hours a night, and STILL have a clean voice with very little noticeable damage. Daniel Heiman is INCREDIBLE, but the stuff he's doing isnt going to last much longer. Again hate his tone all you want, but his "techinque" and skill are unquestionable

The new album is slightly more cohesive musically (it flows song to song better), although the lyrics are still disperate; ultimately the song writing is lacking. Virtually everything about Twist is materfully crafted, executed and fresh. The new album is good, but hit and miss in certain setcions.

I realize they can't write something as epic as The Bard's Song (In the Forest) or A Past and Future Secret every time, but Skalds is far, far better than the acoustic songs on the new album. Aside from that, tracks like Valkyries and Road of Release could have been worked on a bit. And overall, I didn't feel the lead guitar was as powerful as they were on previous efforts.
