Ask the air traffic controllers if they think Reagan was so great. Then he had an airport named after him. Clinton left office with the economy in great shape too. The railroads have always had trouble getting along with their employees. I worked for one of the largest for 37 years and have seen alot of their "fairness" first hand.
Roll through the public housing section and tell me how any New cars with 24 inch plus wheels are parked outside and then let me know how "POOR" they are.
Just saw two movies featuring howard zinn, "The People Speak", and "You Can't Be Neutral On a Moving Train". People who are interested in this might like the former. The latter is more about pacifism than labor.
@mowgli2071 They are the use of a computer program to influence the outcome of Fav/Unfav vids. First brought to light by the creationists (using them against science orientated content) but later more so by Libertarians and GOP supporters to distort the reputation of the video poster.
the funniest thing about conservatives imo, is their worship Ronald Reagan, a man who is known for being "tough on labor unions". doesn't that kindof equate to being pro-slavery.
labor unions are organizations made to prevent oppressive working conditions and unbearably low wages, if your tough on people like that, it proves your the most fascist of capitalists there is, so fuck reaganomics, thats a terrible system. and your terrible people for supporting anti-labor conservatives
@Jarut195 The labor unions of 1877 were much different from the labor unions of the 1980s. Nowadays, labor unions often expect too many compensations to be made for them and increases in wages even when the economy isn't doing well. Your comparison of being "tough on labor unions" to being "pro-slavery" is absurd. Wages in the 1980s were not "unbearably low," especially not the wages of the air traffic controllers union which he shut down.
@Jarut195 There was of course room for labor unions in the 1870s, but nowadays, not as much.
Conservatives love Reagan because he managed the economy well, reduced inflation, reduced taxes, promoted economic growth, and reduced unemployment. THAT'S the kind of stuff that helps the average American.
@snpurple "Managed the economy well", I will agree, from a wealthyman's viewpoint, he managed it quite well. Since the Reagan presidency, inequality between the richest and the poorest, has increased exponentially. Look it up, I swear to you its true.
@Jarut195 That actually started during Carter's presidency. Look it up. The gap between the rich and the poor has gotten larger, but that does not mean that the poor in this country are getting poorer. American families that are at the bottom of income levels today are much richer than those at the bottom 10 years ago.
@Jarut195 Also, if adjustments are made for differences in household size, age, and the value of things like future pensions from employers, future Social Security benefits, and non-cash benefits provided by the government to the poor, the degree of inequality turns out to be smaller than that suggested by most people.
I agree great song and Support Unions. Even if most are led by corrupt inept leaders. Workers need to take back their unions. But what I wanted most comment on, it seems the US is the most oppressive Capitalist country on workers in general and union workers in particular. Looking at how long Black workers were enslaved, and how long they faced blatant discrimination. Then, women did not win the right to vote till around 1920, later than most european countries. We live in the belly of reaction
theres been alott of labor uprisings in my state look up the battle of blair mountain, goverment and outside corporations have always been exploiting this state

Remember Iran-Contra?
Yeah that was a bit of a dick move.
I mean I don't like Obama but at least he hasn't sold arms to Iran to fund literal Fascist death-squads in Latin America. Yet.
