Yodsanklai is clearly not yet adjusted to the pussy rules of K1. that they removed clinch makes the fight much less intresting. K1`s setup is malfunctioning when a man like Andy Souwer can win over a Muay Thai Giant like Yodsanklai.
Andy won this no matter how you slice it but I dont think yod knows the k1 point system I mean he fought with muay thai rules ever since he was a child so its got to be hard for him to adjust to the japanese point system a system that andy has mastered..and everybody talks about how hard yod kicks but what about how hard he punches dude is like a thai mike tyson I seen him ko a guy with a body punch.. @muaythaiscorpion Agreed. I love Bua's beautiful and technical style but it doesn't lend itself well to a guy that is naturally as big and powerful as Yodsanklai (whereas it seems Bua has to adjust and truly build that size that he has now), who has tremendous hands and a powerful kick.
Bua does well against other kickboxers because they're not as strong as he is, but against a true and properly technical Thai fighter with as great/stern as balance as Bua has, there's trouble to be had for him.
Regardless of whether Souwer hurt Yod or not... he still landed the cleaner shots and obviously got points for it. I think he won the fight. Maybe with Thai rules it would have been a different story but this was a k1 fight.
well, judges robbed yod because he wasn't at home. But at de King's cup judges robbed Cosmo, who won against Yod. So when you aren't at home you have to knock out your rival, or at least give him some protection count.

Technically and point-wise, Souwer destroyed Yod utterly in this match. Not giving Souwer an anonymous win would've been daylight robbery.

This fight is an excellent example of why Souwer is just so good. He can fight using any plan, he has just about any move allowed in kickboxing on a great level of technique. The result is that if you give him an inch of space, he'll demolish you.
Yod, oddly, because I know Yod knows better, gave Souwer plenty of room to win with all those wasted kicks and predictable fighting.

Those tactics would make sense in a muay thai fight where you go 5 rounds and even blocked kicks score points. this is K1 rules and kicks on the arms dont make points, variation and clean hits do. Souwer admitted after the fight the kicks started to hurt but he could take them. He isnt badly hurt as you say. You say it kills the opponent but it doesnt win matches, so whats the point? If yod wants to win k1 matches against topfighters he needs to change...
Andy always cramps up the rhythm in the last round.. I think that's why he always wins the decision, he looked better in the last round i gotta admit that.

The simple fact is that in Belgium they ARE a bit biased when they use belgian judges aren't they. It also doesn't help that K1 is scored differently. It still scores based on effect but it also gives boxing a much higher priority and scores aggression as well as how "busy" a fighter is. That's why you don't get defensive K1 fighters.
well i dont really know about the first three rounds but i absolutely think souwer won the extra round, everytime yod fired a middle kick souwer contered with a clear !!! lowkick so in extreme that means 1 point to souwer and no point to yod ( if it is on full muay thai rules than its a different story)

Yeah true, am surprised that Yoddy was pressured at the end, but the point is, when you're more aggressive, that works well when the other fighter gets more defensive. But it didn't affect yoddy at all. He still got his middle kicks in clean, he still got his jab crosses in bam bam bam. Andy lost the first 2 rounds, and although he did do a lot better in the last round, don't think it was enough to beat yoddy's clean attacks, let alone compensate for the first two rounds...
Yod makes Andy's technique and boxing look really sloppy. Only thing Andy did at the end was jab and hug. I don't think I saw any power shots from Andy that were landing.
I have but one question: what the fuck are souwers' forearms made of? Because he blocks with his forearms and yod, it seems, can kick really HARD. When doing padwork, i've felt kicks come ramming right through the pads, so i just can't understand how anyone could take all these kicks(for rounds!) with his bare forearms and keep on punching.

in a real Muay Thai fight, Andy can used his K-1 or whatever moves, but if Yod fight for real and used every muay thai moves, Andy would never win.
For everyone that doesn't know Muay Thai, Yod is southpaw and throwing his number one weapon, his left kick often on ANdy's right arm ( Main arm) it checks his arm and also weakens it. NO Andy did not block those kicks, YES Yod threw them at his ARM on purpose, yes they score points. Notice how little Andy threw his main hand? Because it was hurting like shit.
Yod is a master of destroying the power arm of a fighter. Seems like he's got the power to cut his opponent in half. Western fighters don't seem to have any idea of how to stop it.
Definitely think Yod won this fight and fairly easily at that. Souwer was more active but there wasn't a moment in this fight where Yod wasn't in control.
yod definately won the fight ...kickboxing is one of the most bias sports in the world...normally the judges in your home country know you or have trained with you and they give you a close fight
I don't know if Yod won the extra round, I probably would've given it to Andy - he was backing Yod up way more and I think landed more of his punches. But I don't think there's any way that this should have gone to the draw/extra round. I think Yod dominated the first two rounds for sure.

cmon man, i watched the last round again now, your fighter didnt make one hit, only on blocks. This is not full muay thai rules, you have to score clean. Kicks on the arm dont count. Anyway Souwer is a great fighter with K1 rules, good balance, good kicks, fast hands, he can clinch.

I don't think the result would've been different in muay thai this particulary day (Yod is not really good in grappling and close distance, maybe with the elbows he could have knock him down but Souwer is not stupid enouph to accept fighting Yod with the elbows).

ady played very cleaverly he tired yods legs at 1and 2 round he was not very aggresive until round 4 and 5 when yod got tired ady's lows are very hard even if they aren't seeem so
You can see that Yod was not in a good day (It happens even for the bests), he did a correct first round but after his kicks were slow (for him of course) and his fists were not even there.
Anyone who says Yod won knows nothing about fighting. Yod's hands were low, like always, the whole fight. Andy landed straight punches and hooks all night. He even landed 2 head kicks one of which hurt yod. Every head kick yod threw was blocked. Yod landed maybe a couple body kicks which didnt phase andy at all. Andy landed at least a dozen leg kicks(inside and outside) which Yod checked none of. He countered Yod superbly. Easy decision Andy Souwer, get off Yod's dick.
i think mabye you were asleep and you dreampt another fight. i can admit with hesitation that sower might have won the last round{extra}. no way did sower win this fight. sower didn't even come close to hurting yod with that ONE KICK at the remaining seconds of the extra round. if you look at round one you will see andy hurt and pushed into a corner unable to get out. he was saved by the bell. the rest of the fight was all yod and andy was unable to block any of the kicks that yod threw.
granted it was a close fight, but i see andy blocking 90% of yod's kicks and countering with leg kicks beautifully, none of which were checked by yod. The head kick i was referring to was the kick in the round before the extra round, at 1:15 yod's hands were down and he ate a head kick that almost dropped him, after that he seemed to fade a just a little. And if ur talking about souwer hurt in the first round, maybe he was hurt a little but he was still blocking yod's kicks and countering well.

pause the video. andy catches yod cleanly as his hands are down to throw a punch. Yod's head drops and he staggers. The kick hurt. And take a look at the footage (angle is bad) but when u see andy "hurt" and cornered he is blocking all of yod's kicks. shin meets forearm everytime. I dont think judge bias played into this fight. Yod just has a (for lack of better word) lazy style. Souwer was more active with counter punches and leg kicks. I feel it was close but andy wins.
no they didn't. you need to be able to recognize when a fighter is hurt and if you think either of those kicks hurt yod it is you who doesn't know anything about fighting. most of his shots were checked by yod. look at the fight in slow motion. camera doesn't lie. look at andy's shots. those were the most pussy shots i have ever seen him throw. even the last head kick that landed yod reacted by lunging forward. if he was hurt he would definately not lunge forward and andy would not retreat.
i just looked at it again. yod wasn't hurt the kick didn't even land it skinned the top of his head. the reason why it skinned the top of his head is because yod ducked just before the kicklanded.
i never said anything about the second head kick. the first one did do some damage, he may have revovered quickly but it definitely hurt. thats why after the kick he kept clinching everytime souwer got close, and souwer gets annoyed and says something to the reff. Also after the first head kick, yod isnt really throwing his brutal left kick quite a hard. As for the extra round, its common place in a close action packed fight to have an extra round. this is a spectator sport after all.
in this fight because yod was gassed and andy was behind on points thats why it was percieved as a round won by andy. if you watch the fight closely its obvious by the missed punches and soft leg kicks{soft because they never swept or moved yod's leg when they connected a well placed leg kick will sweep the leg targeted}. please take the time to look at the k1 rules{not mma but kickboxing rules} and you can clearly see that the judges were biased.
Those were good solid well timed leg kicks. And they landed unlike the 20 or so head kicks yod threw. Those werent weak knees they were short knees. In close the best target would have been the knee or the thigh. I'm sure yod felt them. I thnk it was a clear win for andy, but i wouldnt have been shocked if they gave it to yod, it was close. I mean andy's got wins over buakaw, iron mike, masato, sato...were all those judge manipulation too. I mean can u atleast admit that maybe he won this fight?
yod was gassed thats why he held on after that over the back of the head kickz[which missed completely if you look at it in slow motion}. well timed knees. sower was throuwing bullshit desperation knees and kicks which rarely have any effect even on other fighters. this fight was a clear win for yod. the extra round has nothing to do with the croud or the size of the event and has everything to do with judging. an extra round is given when the fight is a draw.

@1Thomas187 Uh, knowing nothing? Speaking of that, do you know the scoring system of K1 rules? Blocked attacks score zero points, so all those kicks of Yod are wasted. Lowkicks do score points, so that's how Souwer outscored Yod with ease. He also had a slight advantage in the boxing work.
Technically and point-wise, Souwer destroyed Yod utterly in this match. Not giving Souwer an anonymous win would've been daylight robbery.

This fight is an excellent example of why Souwer is just so good. He can fight using any plan, he has just about any move allowed in kickboxing on a great level of technique. The result is that if you give him an inch of space, he'll demolish you.
Yod, oddly, because I know Yod knows better, gave Souwer plenty of room to win with all those wasted kicks and predictable fighting.

Have to agree with you on that one, its a way to influence the judges. Clinching is a natural response for a thai but in K1 its deemed to be passive behaviour. K1 fighters use this against the thais...

why would it make such a difference, Full MT rules? point 1, Andy isnt a bitch in the clinch, ok he's not as good as a Thai, but he wont be thrown to the ground constantly neither. Point 2 Yod has a more kicking and boxing style anyways, he doesnt search the clinch.

Those tactics would make sense in a muay thai fight where you go 5 rounds and even blocked kicks score points. this is K1 rules and kicks on the arms dont make points, variation and clean hits do. Souwer admitted after the fight the kicks started to hurt but he could take them. He isnt badly hurt as you say. You say it kills the opponent but it doesnt win matches, so whats the point? If yod wants to win k1 matches against topfighters he needs to change...

lol bullshit. There's corrupt judges all over the world but in Thailand you dont see a fight thats CLEARLY in one fighters favor go entirely the other way.
The simple fact is that in Belgium they ARE a bit biased when they use belgian judges aren't they. It also doesn't help that K1 is scored differently. It still scores based on effect but it also gives boxing a much higher priority and scores aggression as well as how "busy" a fighter is. That's why you don't get defensive K1 fighters.

Yeah true, am surprised that Yoddy was pressured at the end, but the point is, when you're more aggressive, that works well when the other fighter gets more defensive. But it didn't affect yoddy at all. He still got his middle kicks in clean, he still got his jab crosses in bam bam bam. Andy lost the first 2 rounds, and although he did do a lot better in the last round, don't think it was enough to beat yoddy's clean attacks, let alone compensate for the first two rounds...

I have but one question: what the fuck are souwers' forearms made of? Because he blocks with his forearms and yod, it seems, can kick really HARD. When doing padwork, i've felt kicks come ramming right through the pads, so i just can't understand how anyone could take all these kicks(for rounds!) with his bare forearms and keep on punching.

For everyone that doesn't know Muay Thai, Yod is southpaw and throwing his number one weapon, his left kick often on ANdy's right arm ( Main arm) it checks his arm and also weakens it. NO Andy did not block those kicks, YES Yod threw them at his ARM on purpose, yes they score points. Notice how little Andy threw his main hand? Because it was hurting like shit.

Yod is a master of destroying the power arm of a fighter. Seems like he's got the power to cut his opponent in half. Western fighters don't seem to have any idea of how to stop it.
Definitely think Yod won this fight and fairly easily at that. Souwer was more active but there wasn't a moment in this fight where Yod wasn't in control.

cmon man, i watched the last round again now, your fighter didnt make one hit, only on blocks. This is not full muay thai rules, you have to score clean. Kicks on the arm dont count. Anyway Souwer is a great fighter with K1 rules, good balance, good kicks, fast hands, he can clinch.

I don't think the result would've been different in muay thai this particulary day (Yod is not really good in grappling and close distance, maybe with the elbows he could have knock him down but Souwer is not stupid enouph to accept fighting Yod with the elbows).

Anyone who says Yod won knows nothing about fighting. Yod's hands were low, like always, the whole fight. Andy landed straight punches and hooks all night. He even landed 2 head kicks one of which hurt yod. Every head kick yod threw was blocked. Yod landed maybe a couple body kicks which didnt phase andy at all. Andy landed at least a dozen leg kicks(inside and outside) which Yod checked none of. He countered Yod superbly. Easy decision Andy Souwer, get off Yod's dick.

i think mabye you were asleep and you dreampt another fight. i can admit with hesitation that sower might have won the last round{extra}. no way did sower win this fight. sower didn't even come close to hurting yod with that ONE KICK at the remaining seconds of the extra round. if you look at round one you will see andy hurt and pushed into a corner unable to get out. he was saved by the bell. the rest of the fight was all yod and andy was unable to block any of the kicks that yod threw.

The head kick i was referring to was the kick in the round before the extra round, at 1:15 yod's hands were down and he ate a head kick that almost dropped him, after that he seemed to fade a just a little. And if ur talking about souwer hurt in the first round, maybe he was hurt a little but he was still blocking yod's kicks and countering well.

no he was never hurt and there is no way in hell sower blocked those kicks unless you mean he blocked them with his body? that kick didn't do a thing to him and this fight was in the netherlands so biased judges had come up with this bullshit decision. even in the last round yod momentarily stunned sower with a left cross that even the crowd reacted. yod was never hurt or stunned and the proof is that he always moved forward even after both kicks in extra round and before it.

pause the video. andy catches yod cleanly as his hands are down to throw a punch. Yod's head drops and he staggers. The kick hurt. And take a look at the footage (angle is bad) but when u see andy "hurt" and cornered he is blocking all of yod's kicks. shin meets forearm everytime. I dont think judge bias played into this fight. Yod just has a (for lack of better word) lazy style. Souwer was more active with counter punches and leg kicks. I feel it was close but andy wins.

no they didn't. you need to be able to recognize when a fighter is hurt and if you think either of those kicks hurt yod it is you who doesn't know anything about fighting. most of his shots were checked by yod. look at the fight in slow motion. camera doesn't lie. look at andy's shots. those were the most pussy shots i have ever seen him throw. even the last head kick that landed yod reacted by lunging forward. if he was hurt he would definately not lunge forward and andy would not retreat.

i just looked at it again. yod wasn't hurt the kick didn't even land it skinned the top of his head. the reason why it skinned the top of his head is because yod ducked just before the kicklanded.

i never said anything about the second head kick. the first one did do some damage, he may have revovered quickly but it definitely hurt. thats why after the kick he kept clinching everytime souwer got close, and souwer gets annoyed and says something to the reff. Also after the first head kick, yod isnt really throwing his brutal left kick quite a hard. As for the extra round, its common place in a close action packed fight to have an extra round. this is a spectator sport after all.

in this fight because yod was gassed and andy was behind on points thats why it was percieved as a round won by andy. if you watch the fight closely its obvious by the missed punches and soft leg kicks{soft because they never swept or moved yod's leg when they connected a well placed leg kick will sweep the leg targeted}. please take the time to look at the k1 rules{not mma but kickboxing rules} and you can clearly see that the judges were biased.

Those were good solid well timed leg kicks. And they landed unlike the 20 or so head kicks yod threw. Those werent weak knees they were short knees. In close the best target would have been the knee or the thigh. I'm sure yod felt them. I thnk it was a clear win for andy, but i wouldnt have been shocked if they gave it to yod, it was close. I mean andy's got wins over buakaw, iron mike, masato, sato...were all those judge manipulation too. I mean can u atleast admit that maybe he won this fight?

yod was gassed thats why he held on after that over the back of the head kickz[which missed completely if you look at it in slow motion}. well timed knees. sower was throuwing bullshit desperation knees and kicks which rarely have any effect even on other fighters. this fight was a clear win for yod. the extra round has nothing to do with the croud or the size of the event and has everything to do with judging. an extra round is given when the fight is a draw.

thats my point, you only know k1 or this match mabye. yodsenklai is not only lumpinee stadium champ he`s contender asia and wmc champ. your right sower got the win. i doubt there would be a rematch unless sower is dumb enough to fight yod under muay thai not k1 rules[not their not the same].

you dono what i know, besides u could say muay thai rules are biased towards thai fighters. say a non thai fighter punches the whole time and never kicks he'd lose a mauy thai fight even if he did more damage, [and dont tell me its bullshit cuz ive seen it happen] you can argue bias till ur blue in the face but the fact of the matter is 2 guyz stepped into the ring and one came out a winner. If yod brutalized andy like everyone seems to think he did, why couldnt he put him down or even drop him?

this is a very ilogical question,"if yod brutalize andy as much as EVERYONE SAYS, then why couldn't he put him down?" mabye andy has a hard chin or is very illusive when he moves and displaces himself during an exchange. there is also his fighting style versus yod's that could've been a factor. it is an invalid point you're trying to make because of all the factors involved. they are biased in thailand. in kickboxing or muay thai you have to have a minimum of 7 kicks per round.
