I think the original album as issued in England and other countries did not come with Sanctuary either. It was issued there as a single only. I vaguely remember I'm not sure, that Sanctuary was included on the US release but probably because the single was not issued there. One can have a hint of this story when one listens to the song. The production is quite different than on the album. I'm pretty sure the same happened with Twilight Zone and the Killers album.
It was a quite common at that time to issue singles which are not "extracted" from an album. Today, it makes things complicated for completists :)
Another great cover is Massacre, the Thin Lizzy song. Doctor, Doctor, is nice too but so close to the original that I do not find it particularly interesting. I did not follow what they recently put on their singles as b-sides since I very much lost interest in Maiden after Fear of the Dark. Are there some nice covers I am not aware of?
@xara6657 This is strange. The official discography lists Sanctuary, Twilight Zone and Total Eclipse as current songs in the first three Maiden albuns, respectively. I'm aware of what you said about the singles issue despite this being a little bit different in Brazil but I was quite sure the songs weren't released only here. About any new covers, I think there's none since Fear of the Dark, unfortunately. I'm still a fan but they're not as heavy as before. Pitty thou.
Oh yes, the thing is the discography on the official website displays the albums as they currently are sold (the remastered edition). So we have the first three albums with the the three songs you mention added. As you suggest, Total Eclipse was not on NOB originally (it was the B-side of the Run to the Hills single). Also you find on the list A Real Live Dead One as a double CD but they were originally released as two seperate records, A Real Live One and A Real Dead One.
