  • This is nice to watch. It's 3 a.m. and St. Louis has had it's week of winter. Snow makes it more than just bleak, Truman evokes so many memories and such a separate feeling that's hard to find in the daily grind.

Seriously one of my favorite vids on YouTube. Even though you've long graduated and moved on with life, you never really leave your alma mater behind, or the beauty of that kind of night.

  • My favs shots were the ones outside of BNB and the walkways.

its funny how when we live in this situation we just run to our dorms because it is so so cold!

Good vid. Campus looks beautiful. Ill slow down next time for sure.

  • Cool video. It's sort of amazing how Truman State, and the Kirksville community in general is really a mystery to most Missourians. You never really hear about it or see it on the news. I hope to see a lot more videos like this that familiarize Missourians, as well as people around the world, with the various areas and wonders of their home state. Thanks for posting this.

  • I love this video. I think it's by far one of my more favorite views of the campus. Nice work!

  • Thank you! It's hard to make the campus look unimpressive. I just managed not to mess it up.

  • dude, like i just came to truman this semester...so where's the snow and all???

  • Well, this video is several years old so that particular snow has long since gone. As to where the snow that should be here has gone... I'm not a meteorologist, but I do think there are several classes on the subject! Thanks for the comment.

  • you missed the weather last year it started with the snow in January and it flooded during the summer time. I know I won't miss this place just some of the people I have met while living here and I have only lived here 6 years.

  • Wow, that is so beautiful. I love snow, it is so awe inspiring. It makes me even more great full that I got accepted into Truman.

  • I m applying to truman next semester I m a percussionist on a student exchange progrm. I m looking forward to been there!

  • You'll enjoy it! Unfortunately, I'll have graduated by that point. Good luck with your application!

  • This is great. I graduated this past spring ('08) and miss it already, so many memories. Thank you for bringing me back, I'll look at this often this winter and dream :)

  • Glad to have been of service!

  • I graduated in 02. Everytime I go visit the campus looks so different. I miss my days in good ol' Kirksville.

  • The school itself is undergoing a lot of changes right now. Some for the better and others... not so much. There's constant construction around campus as all the dorms are renovated. The academic structure is different now as well. It's different every time I step on campus and I still live here!

  • I finished up in '00 and went back at least once a year until 2005. I was last there to move a buddy into med school. Funny how well you remember the feeling of being a student even though you haven't studied anything in years.

  • wow! thats really pretty..

we just took my older sister to truman yesterday and i love the campus.

    i want to go there!

  • Have you decided to check into it? Great school.

  • I'm applying to Truman this week, actually. Can't wait!

  • Good luck! It's a beautiful campus and a great school academically. If you ever need a guide (to either the campus or the bureaucracy) drop me a line.

  • Thank you!

  • Yeah, i live in kv, my mom works there, its a really nice campus... Getting the hell out of kv though so definately not going there... but its a good school.

  • Yeah TSU! I love the first shot of VH and the shot of the bell tower. That thing is annoying, but I miss it.

  • wow, thats very nice

  • I graduated in Dec/07, when I was there I was ready to get out of schl, but at this time I am missing Truman like crazy.. I LOVE TRUMAN!

  • I graduated in '93, haven't been back to kirksville since '94 or '95. Lots of good times there, and life sure was simpler....

  • Great video. I graduated in 94, the video was painfully nostalgic.

  • great video, great school. what's the name/artist of the song?

  • Thank you! Song is by the Deftones and is called "Anniversary of an Uninteresting Event" from their self-titled album. Would you happen to be a professor of theatre at the University?

  • that was a bad winter in 2003... cold cold cold.

  • This is absolutely gorgeous....

I can't wait until the first snow of the year. Of course, once it snows, it never truly goes away until we get let out for summer. XD

  • Very true! During the summer we wish for snow and during the snow we wish for summer. How fickle we Missourians are!

  • If I had a camera, I would totally get some footage of the University Farm especially the Equestrian team.

  • I'm not sure if you're aware, but Truman has cameras available to students and faculty to use for pretty much whatever. If you go to media services on the first floor of the Kirk building (not Kirk memorial) you can reserve a fairly nice camera for a day to record the farm and the Equestrian team.

  • That was a pretty neat little clip of Truman, I'll be attending in August and I'm very excited.

  • Well, welcome to the club or roster or something. Truman's a fun place and a great school. What are you going to be studying?

  • I plan on studying Spanish and maybe Business, then I hope to earn a master's in education. What did you study? Is it going to be hard?

  • I'm still attending Truman. I'll be a Junior when you start your first semester. Unofficially, I'm an Interdisciplinary Studies major which allows me to use the English, Theatre, and Communications majors to form a comprehensive Film Major. As far as being tough, Truman is certainly an academic place but if you need help most professors will go out of their way to help you. Be nice to them, they come in handy!

  • Cool, i'm glad that most Truman students seem to say that about the professors, that they are helpful. I've been very nervous, but I'm trying to just relax. What exactly goes on during Truman Week?

  • Truman Week gives you a chance to become familiar with the campus and meet your classmates. Truman Week kept me so occupied that I really had no time to be homesick.

  • I graduated from Truman in May 2003 and miss it! Its crazy -- while I was there I could not wait to get out..

  • Song - "Anniversary of an Uninteresting Event" by Deftones, right?

  • What excellent ears you have. Yes, it is "Anniversary of an Uninteresting Event."

  • I miss Truman so much. Graduated in 2000. We don't get snowfalls like this in St. Louis. It's the one place I've ever felt alone in a good way, and one of two places that are so quiet I could hear the individual snowflakes hit the ground (the other was in the mountains of Germany).

  • Very true, very true. I often spend my time running from St. Louis to the more rural Kirksville (and surrounding areas), but the lack of noise and light pollution never ceases to amaze me. Hopefully you'll find time to visit again to introduce some tranquility into what I can only assume is a busy life. Cheers!

  • Whereas I play the video and completely miss Truman. I loved it there and fondly call it the "Weathermouth" as The Ville is one of the places that gets all four seasons in one week. Enjoy it, even the crappy times... because you'll miss it sometime. Thanks for the snow walk.

  • You're quite welcome. I hope to have some spring stuff if and when I get my new camera set-up. *crosses fingers* Hopefully :p

  • The campus is beautiful, until the town and culture of the school suck the life and will to live out of u. I hope u enjoy living in a sea of depression 6 months out of the year.

  • For some reason that seems to be a common sentiment. Alas, to each his own. I personally enjoy the campus community, maybe not the frats or sororities but the university at large is good. What always gets me is the fact that I know my professors and they know me. Where else can you get that? Now the TOWN, I understand.

  • Sorry, for that, but unfortunately, being your first winter in Kville, a mild one at that, you don't have much of a frame of referrence. I do think it's a good video, and you did capture the beauty of Truman on the first snowfall. I'm coming back in the fall to finish off my undergrad ed, and the video made me sorta excited, an emotion not generally associated with the ville, for me at least.

  • I understand the sentiment. I grow weary of the frigid temperatures and the different mixes of precipitation. But nevertheless, as I'm nearing the end of my sophomore year I still appreciate the beauty of it all (just with a grain of salt and an understanding that I'll be stuck with the snow forever).

  • You've got an admirable outlook. Enjoy your break and maybe I'll see you next semester.

  • Not to spoil the surprise...the snow will not leave til' April, so I'm glad you like it. It will just pile on, layer after icy layer. And, as those layers pile up on the roadside, they'll turn ash-black from car exhaust. The grey of the day will be reflected on the ground, enveloping you in the bland hopelessness embodied by the town and its inhabitants. By the time the winter is done with you, you'll read this for a pick-me-up.

    Enjoy

  • Awesome. Truman IS beautiful when it snows!

  • It certainly is. Thanks for the comments.
