From what I've gathered BF3 is going to use the BF2 model (which we bfheads just loved)

Battlefield Bad Company series were made primarily as a console game series, whilist Battlefield 2 (made for PCs) had all of those features you talked about, like demos dedicated servers serverbrowser etc etc

The model that Battlefield is using is awesome. Yes, you have to rent a server from someone that EA chooses, but the server will be top notch and monitored by not only EA, but the server provider. EA will pull the ability to rent them and fine them if the servers blow are run in "unauthorized" setups.

Theater mode is so fucking sexy, but I think it's easier to incorporate into such an antiquated engine. MW3 is just the next CoD, same as the last CoD. Remember when we played the first CoD?

@Dextrizzle You may be right about theater mode being easier to implement on an older engine, but not having ANY demo/recording functionality in BF:BC2 was unacceptable. DICE has to do better in BF3.

@Jjb44j Its not a better game if you dont like the sometimes slowerpace of Battlefield. Myself a CS and CoD player, i dont enjoy BF that much because of its slowpace on some maps and how long the games take.

I believe that the modern warfare 3 server model is better. CoD4 is a great example for that. And it's easy to add the good servers to your favourites and leave the bad ones empty. Also CoD players are already used to mediocre or bad connections. P2P in MW2 was worse. :P

I'd like to see COD learn from BF in respects to knifing people in game. It irritates me in COD that you can run through a hail of bullets and still kill the person by slashing them with a knife. In BF:BC2 knifing is a laboriously slow move which tends to fail in a head on encounter, so if you do win with it, you tend to deserve it due to the other players ineptitude!

one thing i think activision needs to do is give cod dedicated servers on console! cod is the best selling video game franchise of all time, but for some reason the cant give us dedicated servers on console? i think thats weak on their part. another thing they need to do is make a new engine. correct me if im wrong, but i think every cod since cod4 has been on the same engine, just tweaked a bit for the graphics update.

@vol1tion To be fair in the video you don't specify the PC exclusively, and in terms of the gaming industry as a whole the Halo series has had a good theatre mode and file sharing system since the release of Halo 3 in 2007. I can recall vivedly a large host of people responding to Black Ops' theatre mode as Activision taking a page from Bungie's success with it. As for PC games however I honestly couldn't say.

@vol1tion Halo 3 had a version of theater mode. Which came out before Black Ops did. Now, I'm not sure if the PC version of it had the theater mode, but the console versions did. In my opinion, it would be kind of silly to think the 3arc came up with the idea of theater mode all by themselves without the influence of Halo 3, one of the best selling games in history. But of course, that's just what I think, and I could be completely wrong.

Voltion, you don't understand. EA is releasing bf3 through origin because they are allowed ( In ToS) to record the websites you use, if you use bittorent, and all other applications you use, and sell them to 3rd parties

I think EA has really damaged it's public image because of the whole Steam and server browser ordeal. Activision has kind of laid low the past few months except for the elite service. Actually Elite is a pretty good deal, you get free DLC and extras for $50 a year..

If I'm not mistaken, there has been a lot of friction between DICE and EA the past few months. EA wants to make BF a COD killer and release a game every year. DICE prefers quality over quantity.
