  • What is that font you used? Can you please tell me. I really need that cool Wsd-font. ^^

  • Yea Yea!! Watership down is awesome, and I m 100% agree about animators. They did awesome work. :D

  • Finally saw this tonight.

    Great stuff.

    Zero Mostel, yeah!

  • who does the eurythmic cover?

  • whats this song?

    but great review!! :)

  • sweet dreames

  • thanks :)

  • I bought this on DVD recently, I remember watching it when I was a child-and I remember it having the most heartbreaking scene ever.

I think it's a fantastic film, and much prefer it to any disney feel-good film!

I admit I'm biased as my uncle did do one of the voices, but truly-it's a great film. Normally the fact something's animation would put me off, but this is no cheap cartoon throwaway!

  • He did OMG , arrgggghhhh! scream. I'm not lying, its in my top 10 of all time, Who is he, Who is he???????

  • John Hurt :)

  • there's a dog loose in the woods!

    I love this movie.

did you ever see the film they did after this, called Plague Dogs? they also did a TV series called the Animals of Farthing Wood which is pretty similar to Watership Down, but not quite as gruesome.

  • oh man, that movie was so great! But i was quite young watching it. i was so terrified xDDD Oh, man, that were good times ;)

  • It is a fantastically dark and disturbing film! Haven't seen it in years!

  • This sounds great, I wanna' see it.

  • What song is being played in this video? I want to say it's System of a Down, but I'm not sure.

  • it is "sweet dreams" karaoke version... no words....

  • Its the Marylin Manson version of "Sweet Dreams"

  • I liked the movie - it suffered simply from lack of funding in many areas. Thats all. The book... mrrr. Its been edited too much, I think. Personally I like House of Tribes or the Silverwing books too. Kindof the same, only ones mice, and ones bats. Another good animal fantasy is Redwall. WSD is awesome, but it mainly doesnt have an accurate fanbase. You could say its more for adults, and even has many World War conotations within it. The bloody parts arent intended for children, but hey, life.

  • This film is horrific.

I refuse to watch it again. And I have a friend that cries if you mention the film.

  • @Theultimatebride

I agree I remember being quite disturbed.

  • Hands down one of my favorite books/films...

    Cheers... J.

  • I absolutely loved the book, but avoided the movie thinking they'd turn it into a fluffy bunny movie. Now that you've set me straight. I'll see it.

  • It looks creepy...Like the animated Hobbit.

    Oh dear God, NIGHTMARES!

  • I trust your reviews so I'll have to check this out

  • It starts off slow, with the explantation of things... wait ten minutes... However, I do enjoy the different style of animation in the beginning.

  • I haven't seen it and I love fucked up children's movies not for children.

  • You have to check it out!!! If you like reading to you should pick up the book too. It is usually a requirement for high school students on the reading list. I know I had to read it and hated the fact and turned out I love it.... The soundtrack is pretty 70's and feature music from Art Garfunkel.

  • Oh I love the song "Bright Eyes"!

  • Quite disturbing.

  • Watership Down Kicks ass...Watched this at the cinema as a little kid!!

  • I love watership down!

  • I hated that movie. It was worse than any slasher movie. I felt so bad after seeing this movie I still have trouble with fluffy animals to date.

  • I like how this was uploaded in the late hours of the night to ensure that it was the last thing I saw before bed. I will be eaten by evil rabbits in my nightmares tonight, I am sure of it.

This review was great though, really cool. I will be adding this movie to my list of things to watch asap. -J

  • What a great review! This may be my favorite Rough Cuts video thus far.

  • :-) thank you so much :-)

  • What the heck? Who thumbed down my INNOCENT, POSITIVE COMMENT? WHICH DAY WAS IT? SHOW YOURSELF.

J/K, maybe I shouldn't have said it was my favorite. This isn't a competition, after all. Sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings!

  • i thumb-up-ed-ed-edddd it :-) We all work so hard, and sometimes we miss... but positive feedback is always welcomed!

  • ya know whats really messed up,this movies normaly in the kids isle in video stores

  • I worked at Blockbuster for 6 years and I often tried to movie it to another section... You have no idea how many times I got complaints from parents who rented it!! I always asking who was the movie for when it was being checked out at my register.

  • Hey I have this sitting on top of my DVD queue.

  • Stop being a kiss ass. : )

  • Hey did I just get zinged by K80Blog?

    Ouch, I feel the burrrrn.

  • hahaha... nice katie. :-) Glad is it on you queue culwin. I hope you enjoy the shit out of the movie.

  • The first time I realized cartoons weren't just for kids was when I saw this. Powerful, jarring, disturbing. Great review.

  • Good movie. Good book. God awful video quality.

  • "This video is still being processed. Video quality may improve once processing is complete."

  • I will say this... The reason the video is so late for Tuesday because I was having issues with it... but this took me a whole day. :-( sorry if it does not please you.

  • I like the effect in this video. It's a sort of A Scanner Darkly or Waking Life, live-yet-animated effect.

  • Watership Down is pretty much my favorite movie. When I saw it as a child it scared me, but I love it now.
