  • GREAT VIDEO MAN! VERY INFORMATIVE. DONT PAY ANY ATTENTION TO PEOPLE WHO TAKE THE TIME TO MAKE NEGATIVE REMARKS. YOU'RE A BIG HELP TO THOSE OF US WHO CANT AFFORD AN EXPENSIVE CLASS.

WILL YOU PLEASE GIVE ME INFO ON WHO MADE THE ADAPTER FOR YOU? PLEASE.

  • I thought the information was very valid. Unfortunately, I think this video lost itself when it mentioned god. In a forum like youtube where many people from different faiths or lack there of come and seek knowledge or entertainment, throwing in the pitch for god and bashing the heathen that is hollywood does nothing but alienate those who maybe don't believe in god.

As a fellow filmmaker, you have to understand who your audience is. Religion is personal to you and you only.

  • Now i can see really a creative and a smart person. Subscribed

  • there was no need for religion to be brought in to that.

  • A Christian filmmaker putting himself into a roman coliseum? UGHHHHH Hope you like lions.

  • nice thank you so much!

i do have one question though -

you said that it's crucial to get the right focal point with the lens so that when subjects move in a frame, they dont go out of focus, yes?

i'm having some real trouble overcoming this obstacle, and i could really use some help. any advice?

and god bless you for your work :)

  • Job Well Done.............. God Bless

  • Lol the star trek thing was hilarious, yea I understand now I definitely should buy the rods as well.

  • thanks for the info, very helpful..and thanks for representing the King of kings and the Lord of lords...it is time for those who are aware of the giftings from the spirit of truth...to stand up and create visual perfections for the whole world to see. He said if I be lifted up, I'll draw all men unto me...so lift Him up in the media!

    Peace and keep creating...

  • Thank you so much for the encouragement in the Lord. Bless you!

  • lol christians lol

  • gracias por tus tips, me sirven mucho... translation thanks for the tips, it help me a lot.

  • Great tutorial...lots of useful stuff... although, where's the full set up and samples?!

  • Great tutorial, Thanx!!!

  • I didnt really get to much out of your video. You skimmed over the top of to much stuff. I think you need to choose your video title better. Also turn your mic down. Your hard breathing and constant dry mouth smacking is horrible.

  • HAHA Dry mouth smacking is killin me to !!

  • Hey pumajoe, the garbage that Hollywood puts out is immorality propaganda, and is almost always NOT REAL. Somehow, we as a culture have been duped into believing that watching adultery, homosexuality, fornication, murder, fighting, strife, etc... is entertaining. Many Hollywood movie makers have admitted that they film their movies in such a way as to change the morality structure of the world. And unfortunately most Christians have kept their mouths shut for fear of offending someone like you.

  • what did christian film makers have to do with this vs. hollywood?? didnt even know there was a war between the 2, lol. nice demonstration but leave out the religous proaganda. the faith u believe in might not even be real.

  • the way he lives his life consumes every part of his being. If you dont like it theres a red X on the top right.

  • Thanks to everyone who has thus far pointed out the fact that I say ummmm and ahhhhh too much in this video series. It is duly noted, and uhh, I will not repeat this problem in future videos.

  • Who cares if you say it. Good luck with the rehabilitation :)

    Thanks for posting these.

  • Dof adaptors are nice, but your video is full of digressions and never comes to your point.

  • Wher did you get the letus adapters and how much are they? Also do you nedd the metal platform if I wanna use the adapter on a tripod, can you handheld the holw camera including the lens without getting tired?

  • This was a great set of vids you put up. You avtually taught me a couple of things i wanted to learn. Thanks man cant wait to see what else you come up with.

  • I enjoyed your video until you started talking about "walking with god", "Jesus" etc. and knocking down others just because they don't happen to believe what you believe. STOP judging and condemning yourself then maybe you'll STOP judging and condemning others! Face it buddy, you're just another BUG in the grand scheme of things.

  • ok. how can you mix secular stuff with spiritual nonsense. at least you did not say jesus. i love the fact that you are smart. but religion and reality do not go together. i do agree on one thing. hollywood is garbage.

  • Nice video. I like that you are religious.

  • great video. Ive been on the letus site, but the support system seems a necessity. I don't know much, but on the letus site they offer other things when you purchase the lens. Are any of those things a support system? If not, where can I get one from?

  • What 35mm adapter would Jesus use?

  • HAHAHAHA

  • You are the windows man in the Mac commercials.

  • did he say make films to please god? ha ha ha, is that a joke?

  • Thanks ,really useful but could have done without the religious stuff at the end.

  • Great Infos! Thank you. Tell more about the prices next time :-). Is it possible to combinate this adapters with a steady cam system like the steadycam merlin?

  • Thanks for your comments. Yes, I suppose you could use this rig with a steadicam, but you would need a monitor screen and a follow-focus. Moving shots are particularly difficult with a Narrow DOF adapter, but they are possible, if you're an ace with the focus. Hope that helps.

  • Yeah great, thanks for your fast reply. Okay, I understand the problems with the moving DOF Adapter. It would be a pity to abstain from the special 35mm look of the image, e.g. when you want to make actionscenes. Well, but filming never was that easy... :)

  • what a telecon box and shut up chinese guy!

  • Cool, you are a good young man, keep up the good works.

  • Thanks for the great info. It was an added blessing to learn that you are a Christian, too. Thanks again!

  • Great information loved the footage! Quick question I am thinking of purchasing a Sony HVR-A1 camera witout the stock lense. Will that be necessar in order to adapt the Letus? Will I run into problems? Hope to here from you.

    God Bless.

Didn't know where to post. Sorry for the duplicates. New to all of this. Thank You.

  • God bless you!

  • Amen!

  • what sucks is that the letus 35 only takes nikon adapters. I plan on getting an A1 soon. I use a canon 20d for stills...and it would be nice to able to switch my lenses whenever I want once I get my A1.

    good tutorial

  • When you order the Letus35 Basic, it says it comes with a Canon FD Mount but you can have an additional Nikon AI mount for no extra charge. The Letus35 Flip comes with both mounts standard. So, you get a choice. You can easily use your Canon lenses with the Letus.

  • The 20d uses EF lenses not FD

  • If your using an adapter ( i have the m2) close your aperature, other wise if they dont hit there spot exaclty you will have focus problems. I love the redrock m2, check out my footage i use it alot.

  • can you show a clip of just the fully assembled adapter, lense and camera, without the shakey camera? THanks. I just got a Sony V1U, and can't wait to order my adapter.

  • right on you go brotha!

  • where's the video of you showing us the complete setup?

  • Uhhh... didn't actually get around to that yet. Stay posted, and I hope to eventually get something up showing the whole setup.

  • lol, thanks, look forward to seeing it.

  • Can you please tell me what it's like to get critical focus with this adapter? I'm buying the xl version for my xl2 and as i make short films i need sharp focus on the run. What's your opinion as a user? Have you any plans to make your own follow focus system? Thanks.

  • Thanks for your question. Getting critical focus is especially important with this adapter, and it can be very difficult at times. I always use a large high-res lcd monitor to check focus, and I also use my in-camera magnification and peaking features, but the XL-2 doesn't have these features, which will make it more difficult to focus. Be prepared to swap the Letus out and use the stock lens at times - but remember that you need more light for the Letus, so do not under-estimate that factor.

  • Outdoors, if it's bright enough, you can stop down the SLR lens to increase your depth of field if you need more in focus, but indoors that is not practical unless you have some seriously powerful lights. For documentary and run-and-gun style shooting, focus is even more of a challenge. Yeah, it's probably best to get a follow-focus if that's what your planning. I don't have one yet - would like to get one, but they are very pricey, and I haven't the time right now to build one.

  • Keep in mind that all the SLR lenses for the Letus are manual only - no autofocus, so you need a skillful hand, and a very sharp eye. You can also measure your distances with a tape measure to check focus, and it's always a good idea to mark focus points on the lens - this is especially helpful for donig rack focusing.

  • Another tip is to make sure your actors are standing in the "sweet spot". If they're even a few centimetres out, you can loose focus. This may mean putting markers on the floor, or using string on the ground if they're walking, so they stay the proper exact distance from the lens. Hope this helps.

  • Thanks for your detailed response. I understand all the complications of using these adapters with full manual SLR lenses. I guess I was trying to kid myself that I could use this in the way I wanted to so I was looking for that "silver bullet" solution on focus. The footage is just so much more beautiful than the wide dof the mini dv chip yields.

  • I guess I will just have to do as you suggested and swap to the stock lens for run and gun and save the adapter for interviews and properly orchestrated short films. Hows the XH A1? I'm thinking of upgrading soon but I think i'll go with for proHD over HDV for the color space and variable frame rates that something like the HVX200 gives.

  • What's your opinion? Have you had any problems resulting from the long group of pictures that HDV uses? I'll be working with a machinist to make a proper follow focus system. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks.

  • WOW THANKS!! i know this probably doesnt mean anything to lots of people, but there are certainly people out there (myself being one of them) who really appreciate this vid. Its a comprehensive explanation of how to make digital look like film... something that is widely sought after, and for under 1000$ too, so thank you very much. i really like your geekiness.

  • assemble the camera!

  • Great! These three episodes are a rock-solid intro to HDV and how to get that film look. Great tips, neat custom work, and your humor makes it the perfect little package!
