I got the game two days ago and It's been so much fun... sure it's a grind, but it's a fun grind.

Tried WW2OL? No grinding, there's leveling, but there's no need to get to the top level. 6 levels in you can use all equipment in game. I do have PotBS though. On its last legs now. Barely anyone around, most of the poople I started with are gone.

Hmmm....

I play Voyage Century myself, and after seeing people talking about this, I decided to check it out. The sea scene looks more detailed, but the ships lack of that. The seabattle also seems a bit... Slow. The landbattle seems to be great in this game though, far superior than VCO. I just wondered, is it F2P or do you need to pay? And how big is the client? It might be worth it to try out ;)

Meant to reply and hit remove, oops...anyway, what you said about cannons shooting all at once was because that's how I chose to have them fire. You can choose to fire only a few at a time (on bigger ships) or one at a time on smaller ships. From a video makers perspective however, a full broadside is much more dramatic, and why you see all cannons going off.

@Berethos Let me just point out that broadsides with all cannons firing simultaneously was almost never done in reality.

The reason lies in physics: reaction from all those cannonballs leaving at the same time would have capsized the ship. But yes, it looks so much cooler with an Alpha strike.

you sail on the waters freely- but its a map version and doesn't look quite as pretty and you cant see battles from the map- you enter them in encounters. the water still looks great but the rest of the backgrounds aren't as nice as the battles. Luckily you move alot faster when on the map though so you don't have to worry about wind as much.

Yes you can purchase game cards. Although FLS developed the game it will be hosted by SoE so all billing will be processed through them. Game cards are available for purchase either online or at your local retailer like WalMart

Great video but having played the open beta i was massivly dissapointed. Game felt very limiting and didnt impress. First person combat is also the most rubbish ive ever experianced. Ship combat is cool but often got rather tedious. I feel they have pandered to the WOW players and taken alot out of this. Also SOE = Fail :(

I agree that the land combat is the weakest part of the game, it shows how little time they've worked on it compared to the several years poured into the ships. After playing EVE though it feels shallower as a PvP game, more like a big board game with real time attacks that resets when someone wins and not a living, breathing world in the Caribbean.

The land combat was kind of an add-on. They were about to release the game then they wanted a more comprehensive title. They are going to be working on this one as the players give them feedback. I suspect I'll be playing this game 5 years from now.

I dissagree, I have been playing for 2 months, and have to say I find it a great way to spend 6 hours with friends. This title has room for improvement in the avatar combat, but still I'm an avid supporter of this title: I want games like this to continue to be developed instead of more of the same clones we've been getting. As stated by Dridein, if you drag SOE's name into this it only shows you are twisting the facts because you have some kind of SWG/Vanguard axe to grind.

It's actually amazing the number of total anti-SOE players that speak well of this game (some even play it now), which speaks well of the FLS team and their communication. Sadly you won't find me in game for a while, since the network I'm under till May makes connecting a huge, inconsistent hassle. Looking forward to seeing where the game is then though.

yea really SOE hasnt done anything rong here and most anti-SOE are angry SWG gamers who thinks its SOE's faught for screwing up the game. IT ISNT. Lucas Arts is the 1 who screwed Galaxies over they made SOE change the game cause people said they would buy it mroe if jedi could be instantly available. So SOE isnt to blame as far as Potbs and SWG goes.

The Dutch are well represented, but not as a playable side...not sure why the Portuguese were not represented. Looks like the fee will be the usual $15 a month.

How so? Besides, the video (when compressed) really doesn't do the level of detail justice. Each ship was created using real ship plans from the era, so I'm not sure what they could do to make them more "appealing".
