There is fufu from all around africa. My parents are from Sierra Leone, and it is different from this fu fu. Some things look nasty and are good. You dont have to eat it wiht your hands--I don't! Pinch off a piece of fufu, with your thumb and fingers, roll it with your fingers gently into a sort of ball shape. Then, you sort of make a little indent in the fufu, and then scoop a bit of yummy soup, and get that in your stomach. i remember this food being mentioned on the movie "Phat Girlz" with Mo'nique. The Nigerian Man was trying to teach her friend how to properly eat fufu. He told her, "To truly enjoy fufu, you must swallow it in big amounts." Then he dipped the fufu ball into a yellow saucy substance and ate it. I have personally never tried fufu, but after seeing the big feast scene in that movie, with the different African foods, it sort of intrigued me, and i would definitely like to try it some day!

When you eat fufu you roll it with your fingers very nicely and make sure the soup doesnt hang out from the balls you make with your fingers, because it makes it look like garbage and you swallow it instead of chewing.

As the features star in this home grown documentary, I must now defend my ineptness of fufu eating. #1 that was my first time eating fufu and had only limited instruction #2 I liked the fufu so much I wanted to savor the taste of it in my mouth, hence chewing and not swallowing #3 yeah, whatever, I choked at the end but I eat it like a pro now.
