  • No interest until May 2001? Dude! I'm set!

  • Thumbs up if you thought the spokesman said "Don't get raped this holiday season" at 0:42

  • Well, that is... quite the cast they got for this commercial

  • "Ho ho ho, Happy Holidays"

    ???

ROLF @ lame ass political correctness

  • Cracked.

  • Never thought it was funny, but at least it wasn't annoying.

  • moral of the story: buy our product or get murdered and raped by vikings.

  • wonder what percentage was on may 2001

  • ahh yes the origional viking commercials. nowadays, they're all the stupid "modern" vikings that sip lattes and tromp about in shopping centers all clumsy like. it's been a long time since the origional viking ads even came about. people are gonna start forgetting what it was even all about.

  • Visigoth was a tribe originating in Gotland (duh). A viking is a person who goes exploring, trading, raiding. They're not the same. Jihadists and Carthaginians came from the same region but they're not the same right?

  • Was this the first "Capital One" Vikings commercial?

  • @SinnFein4ever I remember there being one in a sports arena too, around the same time. This is definitely one of the early ones.

  • @rko815

A lot better than those "So easy a caveman could do it." Geico car insurance comercials, which got old YEARS ago.

It feels like they've been doing them for ten years.

It's amazing that they seem completly oblivious to the fact that the majority of their viewers got sick of them a LONG time ago.

  • @SinnFein4ever I agree, though I still think they come up with a good caveman one once in a while (bowling one). The new Capital One commercials are also great stuff. Love the Grand Canyon one with Ogre. Funny to think they started from this one.

  • @rko815

Nah...I'm sick of th caveman comercials.

Although one ad-campaign that I found obnoxious right off of the bat, was a car company's "Mr. Opportunity".

It has a cartoon man "in" a real-life car-dealership, walking around and talking to real people.

It begins with him making a sound like knocking on glass, and then he seems to be looking right through the screen, and he says "Hi. I'm Mr. Opportunity. And I'm knocking". And it ends with him doing the same thing in reverse.

  • @SinnFein4ever I think they have a radio spot for that commercial as well. I think most of us will agree that anything beats the heck out of the drug commercials with all the side effects, and less we forget, the erectile disfunction commercials right in the middle of the monring news on cable.

  • @rko815

Until a few years ago, it was illegal in the U.S. for prescription drugs to be advertized.

It still is, in most other countries.

  • @SinnFein4ever I know, it's disgusting. Even Sally Field has sold out.

  • @rko815

I'm not familiar with Sally Field.

  • @SinnFein4ever She's the actress who does those Boniva drug commercials. In it she says Boniva can help where calcium and vitamin D can't. To me that's selling out. I am sure she's getting a giant check each time it airs.

  • @rko815

    Agreed.

  • @rko815

I hate that smug, arrogant look on his face, and the way that he puffs up his chest at the end.

But the worst part is the glass-tapping sound that he makes at the beginning and end of every one of them.

It's about as pleasant as hearing nails run down a chalkboard.

And him looking like he's sticking his face inches from yours, is not pleasent either.

  • The Visigoths would had been mainly speaking Latin by the time they settled down in Spain.

  • does anyone know the brand bathing suits the girls are wearing on the capital one beach commercial?

  • whats in your wallet

  • hahahaha!

  • Go back to slavery slave.

  • I hate you racist, go back to afrika

  • To the neighbour!

  • Hm, the UK version was dubbed (to think they used British actors in our version, bah!); the brit version had one of the raiders asking "what's in your wallet?" in a somerset accent which made it funnier.

  • My information says that this TVC was filmed on a private estate near Maynooth, in Co. Kildare. So the majority of the "Visigoths" were actually Irish... However, I have no idea if the two major roles were played by English or American actors.

  • i was actualy a principle on this one and it was shot In Maynooth! the actors were irish and the Voices were dubbed !

  • Irish? are you an ignorant? visigoth are actually spanish (spaniards from spain)

  • Both Visigoths and Ostrogoths originally 2500 years ago came from Scandinavia later they settled down in what is now Poland and yet later they moved around in Europe fighting the Roman Empire and finally they settled down in todays Spain. They are extinct or assimilated.

  • i know it. They aren't extintict. Spaniards are mostly celts, iberians and visigoths blended or single (rare)

  • actually the question shoulg be "are you lacking in education" Goths were Germanic tribes originally. By the 4th cent. the Visigoths were at the borders of the East Roman Empire, raiding across the Danube River, and peacefully infiltrating the trans-Danubian provinces. Constantine ...

  • @KASivaro Ermanaric was the las king of whole goths, they divided Visigoths/Thervingi and Ostrogoths/Greuthungs. After Adrianopolis Alaric sacked Roma (410) and they migrated to Iberian Peninsula (Spain) were they settled and created the visigoth kingdom about 3 centuries until (720). Ostrogoths settled in Italia, same culture and language, the scision was for a conflic between baltingos and amalingos families... There is a great educational problem in US

  • @iSPaLiTo ROTFLMAO ... visigoths were from FRANCE! look at the map of Gaul!

  • @LazyBoy9476 visigoth were originally from sweden, ultimatelly they lost france territory and conquest suebi and alans territories on spain. they ruled Spain from 410 to 712, and actuals kingdom of spain (castile, leon, aragon and navarre) were founded by visigothic resistance to islamic invasor.

    See Visigothic Kingdom at wikipedia

  • @iSPaLiTo i am not entirely sure that this is the case. Germanic origin seems to be it. history of visigoths is very interesting and first mention is when they went for Rome.

  • @LazyBoy9476 yes, they plundered Rome at 410 and then they settled at Septimania and Iberian Peninsula, the Franks pushed visigoths to south, visigoth take possesion of Hispania (province of rome) as Foederati and the visigoth king called himself King of Spain, for Rome they was only Regnun Visigothorum

  • @iSPaLiTo The first mention of goths were incursions at 251 ac. Athanerik was the first king of all goths, before 300 ac. After Ermanaric (350 - 375) goths divided in visigoths and ostrogoths, Fritigern defeated romans at the Battle of Adrianople (378) From then everything is of surplus acquaintance

  • how do they know they are visigtohs?

  • The nation of Visighots is Spain

    H8

  • visigoths and ostrogoths, or goths in general; vikings ; teutones; anglos; saxons; jutes;- the are all basically from the same ethnicity that is germanic. my ancestry is visigothic and my last name means man in gothic.

  • I remember this one. There was another one slightly different with the same result. The cardholder pulls out his Capital One, and the pursuers stop cold in their tracks, express total disappointment and go back where they came from. Too funny that a simple piece of plastic has enough power to stop weapon wielding tough men from days of yore...LOL.

  • the vikings are funny.

  • This was the very 1st commercial, and every since its success, there's been follow up commercials.

  • I love how they turn it into an epic battle charge!

  • To the neighbor!!!

    hahaha

  • Magnificent. The only one I like better than this is the other commercial where they raid the mall, topple the giant xmas tree and rush Santa Claus! Please post if you got it

  • lol i wouldve done that to all my dumb neighbors with all msy friends and there friends etc.lol

  • "To the nieghborhs!" i miss this commercails.

    Bring back the vikings!

  • What's in ur wallet motherfucker?! lmao! this commercial is funny as hell!

  • AHAHA! TO THE NEIGHBOR!

  • this commercial is just gold!!

  • Come on people just enjoy the vid

    lolzzz i love this commercial

  • false............moors were only a few.

  • I always think of Vlade Divac when I see this commercial.

  • Visigoths are the ancestral parents of spanish people

    1 saludo

  • something I am quite proud of

  • the goths came from scandinavia=)

  • @visigodo233 How many Goths settled in Spain? Let me see some DNA results.

  • I was in this advert. We were Visigoths but seeing as we brought a lot of our own costume there is a lot of Viking equipment flying about.

Any chance of getting a cleaner copy of this vid?Dave. Historical re-enactor.

  • Haha "To the Neighbours!!!!!"

  • lol i love there new "you've got bankers" commercials

  • Visigoths aren't vikings

  • As if we were historians or something... ;)

  • lol well a person does not have to be a historian to know that Celts and Germans aren't the same. Same thing with Goths and Vikings :)

    Anyway cool vid.

  • Amen.

  • Same thing with Goths and Vikings :)

Actually, the vikings and the Goth's came from the same people. There was, and still are, people in Sweden called Götar. Out of the word Götar came gotar, which later turned into goths. They travelled both west and east, and the ones who travelled to the west was called visigoths, and the ones travelling to the east was called Ostrogoter, both developing from Old norse's väst and öst.

  • @ElleMao Vikings are Germanians, Visigoths are Goths, Goths are Germanians, So no diffrence just same ancestry, so same barbarian lifestyle :)

  • So what, they're just generic Germanic marauders?

  • What's not very funny is one of the senior management of this company (as reported yesterday at InnerCityPress dot Com) is being considered for the Fed.

  • Current events aside, this is about vikings! ;)

  • BARBARIANS!

  • NORSEMEN!

  • Actually no. They were in middle Europe. Not Scandinavia.

  • I love these commercials with the Vikings!
