  • Glassy water will get you.

  • it got smashed when it hit the water

  • His last words "hey buddy hold my beer and watch this"

  • Ah 240p... We meet again.

  • thats what happens when you drop the joint!!!!

  • lol. that what happens when stupidity gets a hold of you

  • Audio and over dub would have been great!

  • at least they were already wearing their swim-suits !!

jokes aside, i hope the pilot has recovered .. physically and emotionally ..

i wonder what he considers "minimum safe altitude" after that day

P.S. THANKS for posting, in case i ever had the urge to try something like this

  • hey watch out for the big ass lake, ur doing like 50 a boat could pass u plz dont ever get a big boy plane u wont last long

  • Yea. I guess you can't get much lower than that.. Run out of fuel?

  • its only valid if you don't crash

  • lucky pilot, harmless...!

  • Why is it so dangerous to fly that low? Does it have anything to do with wind or did he just misjudged his altitude?

  • The title should read, low flying record tied.... you can never beat the record.

  • It is extremely difficult to judge altitude [hight?] above glassy water.I believe he simply flew into the water not realizing how low he was.

  • I like the title "low flying record smashed" LOL

  • I agree, low level flying is the very best, and very addictive especially in a trike. I used to love chasing trains low level. As for safety you know altitude is everything - I would do it again, but not with a 503. Great vid and comments. Tx, take care!

  • This is why I will never buy anything from WMG. Why give those pricks my money.

  • whats a mentoir

  • It has been a few years now since this has happened and I watching this video still makes me smile.

Yes I am the pilot of this water landing and not as he clams the person who posted it (without my conscience.)what at the end of the day cased my a lot of problems with authorities

  • I am very well aware of the risks involved and it was stupid.

This said I just love low level flying it is a lot more fun than flying between 1500 & 5000 feet.

I have done this many times before never in populated areas and never with passengers.

Sure I have had little mishaps like twice now hitting a roo not on purpose and with no injuries to animal ,myself or damage to my trike.

  • The back wheels hit the water forcing the nose to dive and everything came to a very abrupt halt with the trike at first floating I unbuckled my seatbelt and climbed out.

It was then when the weight changed and the wing being above the water everything turned upside-down.

  • I tried to pull the trike to shore but with the wing under water it was not possible.

The next morning I had some support from friends and the only way to get it out of the water was to pull it by truck.

There was no damage after the landing but by pulling the trike upside-down to the shores the wing dragged over the rocks underneath and by the time we got it finally on soil the wing was shredded.

  • A day of drying flushing the engine with lots of WD40 cleaning the engine was running the next day.

A week later I had a new wing and have been flying since with no incidences.

All up it was a costly experience BUT IT WAS FUN!!!

I had to promise my wife in future not to fly lower than treehight

(we have here some very small trees )

  • Hell! Looks like these guys were having a grande old time right up until he hit the drink! What a shame. I'd be pissed at myself. Those aren't cheap units!!! I'd rather be flying that little helo though. ;)

  • what a landing... or rather... "water" landing

  • Let me guess.........he was trying to spot fish?

  • he was looking for arabs.

  • I don't know, they kind of avoid the water.

  • missed it by that much :)

  • ...flying so low over water is needlessly

risky; if there's a gust or a stall or power

failure - - water landings are often fatal.

  • never mind on the last comment,

the reflection of clowds looked like trees, giving me the illusion he was

    being blown backwards......

i see after watching till the end.

  • what happened? looked like a big gust of wind came up and stalled

it out, then blew him back !

  • Yeah, he sort of stopped and hovered for a moment and lost lift. The wing dived to make airspeed, but there was no altitude, so into the drink he went. At least it was a pretty slow crash. I think the lake itself is pretty cool. Looks like a recently made reservoir, with all the trees still standing. You can find some cool stuff diving in water like that. Of course, diving with scuba gear works better than an airplane! LOL. (Yeah, that wasn't funny, but I can LOL if I want to. So there. XP )

  • Ah...it looked like an RC. First water landing with an RC. Yep! First one!

  • i will not criticize these men for they have truly lived and i have not.

  • indeed

  • Now that's just bloody intelligent aye??

Stupid is as stupid does. I see the Nazis at You Tube and their comrades have killed the audio... What good does it do a man if he gain the wealth of the entire world? When you die, NONE of it can go with you...

    So what's the point.....

  • @BerettaM21 Shut your jew mouth....what's intelligent sitting at home wanking off......

  • @BerettaM21 Your depth of field vision is very deceiving over water. I wouldn't be too critical.

  • just because it has a propeller doesn't mean it's a boat. Those things on top are Wings!!! pilots who fly feet from the ground or water should trade in their planes and buy quads or boats. way cheaper when you hit the ground (or water)

  • ach low flying is half the fun of it, far more exciting than flying at 2500ft. Still, I don't fancy low level over water...

  • 2:34 Im Speedo Man to the rescue! Out of my way while I use my SuperPower Huge Bulge to lift your plane to Safety!

  • I'm his side-kick: MANKINI BOY!

  • There are some who like to brush their wheels on the surface of the water, full oblivious that doing so is like landing in a peat bog: It will snag you and stop you cold. At least he lived to learn.

  • Sweet song for the purpose :) Whoops

  • Theres your problem. Water in the fuel system... Hope all ok tho.

  • Should of kept it where it was at 1:11. Very nice scenery. I used to fly a Kolb 2 feet above the James river, balls to the wall at 70 mph. Great fun, but gotta be on your toes.

  • Dude must have felt like crap xD

  • As friendly and inviting as your shadow/reflection may seem, it's best that you AVOID it at all costs. IT'S A TRAP!

  • Glassy water landings are the most difficult technique for seaplanes. It is incredibly difficult to tell how far you are from the water. This pilot measured the distance the old fashion way.

  • if it had only been a seaplane, lol,

  • Dumbass?

  • what did he do that for!?

  • Fast forward to 1:40 to save some of your life.

  • LOL! You really made me laugh!

  • haha... you are so right! @Keys1337

  • @Keys1337 thx =)

  • Ah, it just makes ya a better pilot. Now go fly.

  • a bit of tape an sum glue and ur ready 4 th sair again lol

  • What was he actually trying to achieve? I love new records, this makes no sense to me

    Pleased he is OK

  • He wasn't trying to achieve anything, just having some fun

  • What was he actually trying to achieve? I love new records, this makes no sense to me

    Pleased he is OK

  • He would have been making a beautiful glassy water approach in a floatplane, though.

  • Niskie loty są ryzykowne, ale durny to ma zawsze szczęscie :)

  • no to ładnie facet nawywijał ..

  • Was the problem flying too low or engine failure? I fly a trike over the water all of the time. The distance from smooth water can be deceptive

  • Only if you have a seaplane!

  • There but for the Grace of God go I...actually, I did the same damn thing in a cornfield. Yep. Felt pretty dumb as well.

  • ***ops***

  • ouch!

  • Having a glass of wine watching that, maybe it waqs the wine, but I'm laffin my ar*e off ;-)

  • ever wonder how many of these things fly over water and experience engine failure?

  • A little duct tape, and tie wire, and he'll be good to go again!

  • this music is soooooo funnyyy!!

  • yes, dumb, thank god he survived,it could have cost him his life.

  • the ground was soo close!!

  • all those gay ausies

  • Glassy water is a bitch, aint it?

  • To save his life, next time he need parachutte for his airplane and himself .

  • uhm..he didnt die?

  • That was scary as hell! There was a man wearing a speedo!!!

  • no wake speed !

  • great presentation!

For sale: Microlight - used once, never landed, slight stain, needs work!

  • AUSTRALIA!!!!

  • Altitude: -5 ft... with a calibrated altimeter

  • Why????

  • Great presentation. Good luck on the rebuild!

  • A good presentation of a crash, with this sound! Ha ha!!!

  • Speedo! RUN FOR YOUR LIFE! :-D

Nice vid... love the humor in it.

  • solution...floats

  • When I look for a mentor, I want someone who can at least spell the word.Funny vid though.

  • can you say..... Oops???????

That must have sucked. It looks like all the needs is a new engine and wings and he's good to go

  • In other words, he needs most of the aircraft redone. Ouch.

  • Great video, loved the music too.

  • 50 ft minimum!!!!!!!!lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Very nice video, and superb soundtrack!

  • How much $ do those things cost?

  • Great video boys all is well?Hope you dont mind I've added your video to our group(global flying microlights uk) cheers Jimmy

  • LOL -I crashed it MYYY WAAAAYYY

  • this clip makes me laught out loud! LOL! the speedo is great, two thumbs up for bravery.

  • First rule of ultralight flying: Don't fly over anything you wouldn't want to land on.

  • Hahah.. brilliant, the best video ive seen on you tube! So glad to hear he survived scratch free. Looked like it could have been nasty.

What was the damage to the trike? New wing required, looked like the king pole was snapped? How was the carriage?

  • Heh, I thought this was going to have some kind of horrible, graphic, ending! Whew!
