this song describes at best what i feel right now... im in love with a girl, and she loves this other guy...but i know deep down she loves me..............
Hmmm, after listening to this song multiple times in a row, I get a picture of a guy, who is pissed that he was left for someone else, and he is now outside his ex's window thinking of ways for her to pay. Or maybe I should just take a break from watching Law and Order SVU hahahahaha.
I think there arent as many stand out tracks on this album, but if you sit and listen to it as a whole you get completely lost and wrapped up in it. Its beautiful.
This song, Just Touches me, in a way No other interpol song has, Except for NYC,It hits that right spot, that just makes me. God I can't even describe what emotion it makes me feel
I wasnt an Interpol fan.. I am into hip hop music. But i heard the recent release and picked Barricade and All of the Ways as the best songs.. By far "all of the ways" stood out to me as the finest song.. I saw them in Brisbane, live @ Sunset Sounds, and was disappointed that they didnt perform "all of the ways", in their set.. oh well, fuck it.. good band anyway.. great that the lead singer is banging Helena Christensen in the manner that a decent rockstar should.. (aka MIchael Hutchence}
@zachy3621 well i saw them live on wednesday night, and they just released a new album, so eh.. not so sure they have broken up..I think the lead singer has a solo side project or something, and two members have left, and they have a new bass and keyboard player, so yeah, its now a three piece or something.. Interpol, apart from making some pretty decent music, also makes me want to be a rockstar so I can bang supermodels in st tropez all day..
Paul's voice is always full of emotion. It's so dark and soulful. It's so fitting. Interpol is my favorite band of all time. Without a doubt in my mind.
LOVE this song, but geez, would it kill Interpol to have more than 2 upbeat songs on the new album? "Barricade" and "Success" are the closest to having fast paced songs on the self titled one.
Also, goddamnit Paul Banks, stop getting your heart broken.
Never said it wasn't, but the comparison I make is one of the feeling it invokes, of nervousness and being anxious. Of feeling alone in a room full of people, and driving alone at night on back roads. with cliffs. of not talking for hours and hours and just letting every pore open into the sound. it;s unnerving and so pretty. So please, don't tell me what to fucking do. I'm old.
and this sounds more like placebo than radiohead. But i really love the depressing nature. I want happy, I listen to Passion Pit. I don't listed to Interpol to feel good. Duh.
@dawz Pleaseee do not dare to compare this to Placebo or Rhead.. that although being great bands (comercial and almost pop bands).... are just in a completely different wave and musical level....
...Interpol is just bigger, better and way more soul-enlightening.. if thats a word!
@Cabosssszzzzz You think Interpol are bigger , better than Radiohead? Sir, you couldnt be more wrong... as much as i love Interpol, they got nothing on radiohead, the day they come up with anything as emotional as motion picture soundtrack give me a call, dont even make go into the musical level...
@HarrowRush You say radiohead, i say pppfffff...... Really? Musically? And of course i dont mean bigger and better in popularity (just turn on mtv if u wanna see rhead for a while.. pppfff).. i mean theyre just THE better alternative, post punk band out there... Paul Banks on Thom Yrk...?? Really.... ???
@Cabosssszzzzz lol lets just appreciate all post punk. theyre all great :). I love both radiohead and interpol! And many more! Haha I like all music, let's all enjoy :D.
The sounds of unfaithfulness when neither one will get out. It's a soul killing thing, to have your wings clipped because you cheated....you can never ever make it up..that spite keeps people together. You hurt me, I will make you so sorry...forever..
My favorite song of the new album. The song doesn't have a beat, it just slowly pulses and pulses energy right up through your body. It has a dark, brooding melancholic hurt that keeps reaching and striving, building and falling in crescendo "time after time". So beautifully longing and painful.
Turn on the bright lights was awesome and all... but seriously, how could you not find this song absolutely beautiful? This has gotta be one of my favorite songs by the band so far. Fantastic album.
In all honesty I'm starting to like interpols new stuff less and less. Every time they release an album there are less songs I like until it got to this point where I'm not really feeling it for any. Just my opinion though; I see alot of people are liking the way interpols going now but I still think of turn on the bright lights as perfection and as the best album I have ever heard.
The best song on the album, which IMO was a let down, HOWEVER, the more I listen, the more it grows on me. I just think they hung out with Thom Yorke too much at the end of the decade. The album reflects that. Very dark.
@Mikebird59 I mean we have "Turn On...", "Antics", "Our Love To Admire.." all superior IMO. If Interpol is "growing" i.e. gtting deeper in personal feelings when composing", well, they should keep it to themselves. Nothing on here can even compete with Evil, Heimrich Manouver, PDA, Obstacle 1, et al.
@Mikebird59 Sometimes it's better to not remain the same. If the best music comes from the soul and life experiences, then it would mean that while they made this album their state of being was somewhat more darker than in previous years. I feel that this album just represents their emotional state when creating the album.
This is the best song of the new album IMO. The other songs were hard for me to get the feeling of but this song, I feel it perfectly. I like this song the most.
