  • Growing up in 9th&10th grade when the time came out was a beautiful time in my life.I bought all their albums &when I1st heard morris sing cool i thought he was so kool when jerome would bring the mirror out while morris would comb his hair.I used to walk around saying"hello do i know u?"If u listen closely to giglos & kool u can hear prince's voice in the background. Wow, when i saw prince & vanity on cover of rollng stone i knew i wanted to be a star. Morris day is still kool 2 this day Yess!

  • That and sometimes I get lonely was posted within last few months that I think that YT removed them due to copyright claims to have me saying "DAMN, DAMN, DAMN".

  • Dont wait for me, i just make love to u girl, then set u free, Im just a young man----- What makes u think that I have the time to be fallin in love in my prime. Now those are lyrics LOL! Yeah it was on the Color Of Success

  • Yes and it's one of my Favs

  • This just might be my favorite Time song - I've loved it since '82, even though I didn't know what it was really about at the time :D

  • OMG I just saw Morris Day & the Time at the Rochester, New York Music Fest, they brought the house down, the best part it was free but they performed like we PAID! Thanks Guys for a great show

  • I would have driven over from Vermont to have seen that.

  • Well, actually the band we know as the time was know as Time Flight and Morris and Prince were both drummers. The lead singer was a Mississippi native named Alexander O'neal. When he went solo prince started his own thing and Morris became the man. So... Morris didn't come in later... he was there from the jump

  • I would give anything to hear the song `Girl`. Any tips?

  • "Girl" is actually the reason I found this clip - doesn't look like anyone's uploaded it (I wanted to share the audio after listening to the song, and YouTube is convenient). Ah well.

  • Morris Day - one of the coolest dudes ever!

  • minneapolis in the house

  • 4-ever always

  • All I can say is....CHILI SAUCE...OH LAWD!!!!

  • Another Prince written power ballad! Wrote several other if not all the Time hits.

  • All i corect sir.

  • All is correct, sir.

  • you may want to give terry lewis and jimmy jam some props. they were the Time. Morris came to work for them.

  • Morris still has that swagger and can pull it off without seeming conceited

  • Trivia:

I read that the Time upstaged Prince when they opened for him in 1982-83.

I can see why. The Time had a unique brand of music not played by other R&B groups during that time.

  • Yo bmusicinoc I was fortunate enough to see this concert back in 1983. Hara Arena in Dayton, Ohio. 6 rows from the stage (we had festival seating in those days: first come first served. It was Vanity 6, The Time, and Prince. Sure, Prince was the Main Attraction, but you are right, The Time gave him a run for his money! this vid brings back fond memories of the good old days! Damn, to be 18 again...

  • @bmusicinoc you read wrong. Prince wrote all their material lol

  • @Clandestinemonkey They wrote a song for Prince in exchange for a deal, come on they have Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis two of the biggest writers in the game.

  • sorry baby

  • Morris might very well be one of the coolest dudes of all time. They were huge after Purple Rain.

  • they were huge way before PURPLE RAIN....get it up sent them to the top of the r&b charts

  • F@@CK "U-BOOB" for cutting out the sound on The Time and Prince videos!! They know The Time is the BOMB!!!

  • I always thought this was Prince when I heard it on el radio. I'm sure Price wrote/produced it, anyway.

    Nice.

  • nice comment

  • I wish they woulda' sung "Girl," too.

  • Saw these guys last night in Vinton, LA. at a casino. Awesome show! These guys still have it! Morris still looks the same too. Great band and a great time.

  • prince didnt screw them over he wrote 99% of the there songs under the name of jamie star if anything he pushed them into the limelight.

  • Your right. Prince did'nt screw them. It was hard to control them because thier was so much talent in the group. True many of them were almost as talented as him. But with all that talent even without Prince it would have been hard to stay together. Now thier back together saw them here in vegas & they still sound amazing.

  • BUT .... Prince DID become jealous of "his creation" since they were gettin' a lot of fan response at the shows in the 80s & becomin' more popular that he pulled them from being his opening act ....... talk about a Royal Purple Ass !!! How can you get " J " over a great thing you put together ..... PurpleGuy Looney .....

  • Comment removed

  • Morris Day and Time one of the greatest groups of all time. True musicians. The most talented group ever assembled. Morris,Jesse,Jimmy Jam,Terry, Jerome, and of cours Alexander Oneal if you find a group with more talent than that let me know. True pioneers.

  • @Unbeatable222

    and monte moir!

  • @Unbeatable222 You know Prince wrote all these songs, right? These guys are good performers but that's about where it ends.

  • @Clandestinemonkey LOL, do you accept to eat the poo-poo, or did you forget that Jimmy and Terry are one of the greatest producer groups of all time, that Jesse has a lot of respectable solo work and production under his belt just to name a few? Yes, The Purple Midget was behind the lion's share of their work as a group, but dismissing the talents of the members is drinking too much Purple Kool-Aid.

  • @DrClaw77 I can see that you are mad, bro.

  • @DrClaw77 True Jam & Lewis are bad muthufuckas in da studio & live. Jesse is not just respectable but was tremendously underrated & over looked as a great solo artist & especially a guitar player. Where u go wrong is in describing & disrespecting Rogers Nelson. 2 used da word midget aint cool dog. His height is what makes him unique. He already has pretty boy looks & we all know his genius mentality & intellect. In fact, he was da mastermind behind all of these brilliant musicians. Chill bruh!

  • So cool! :)

  • Best song ever written........Fin

  • Yes, P fucked them over so bad they are still making money today.

  • Prince fucked these dudes over and they gave him a run for his money on many of nights on stage.

  • Well, I know you might have a point there considering he was the one who most likely drove original frontman Alexander O'Neal away from the group (they were known as Flyte Tyme then). And this was a few years before he wound up firing Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis for failing to show up at one of their scheduled concert billings (and you know what happened to those two thereafter; talk about karma, LOL!!!). Wish that original lineup would've held for longevity's sake. Talent was more than worth it!

  • I hope they do a come back. I would love to see them again!

  • Wow, I remember when this was one of the hottest sounds around. My favorite verse is "Just once I want to make love without taking off my clothes." Oh how I miss those days when music was exciting.
