@jctorres6108 ive tried it. its alright. its like fcpx. it works but it still needs work before its pro level. if the film/video community supported linux itd be perfect. but the project sharing gets difficult from mac to linux and vice versa. so now i just use linux as my fun os and mac for work.

I can't say i blame ya. we all vent or askfor help while venting as the same time..at least a few times here and there. but If you're referring to being able to play windows games...the program " Wine" allows that quite easily. I'm no expert but the configuring part of that is harder for me. if ya can get past that. you're home free..otherwise..im not sure how to help..cheers.

@178caboose Takes a bit of work, but i run steam TF2 , cs 1.6, source and magicka right now. There is a program called wine that lets you run .exe files in linux, for more information visit WineHQ. You might run into some problems at first, but some google-ing and tweaks will fix them. Right now im running tf2 at 90 fps.

Funny, how I can do than in Ubuntu. It's called Virtual box, I can emulate Windows and still play games.

I got allot of them to work in Wine, sure it takes a tiny bit of tweaking but it works.

@Mulinaster yes there are many things you can do in Linux and can't do in Windows.First of them is running without viruses and not needing any security software which would frustratingly slow down your PC. Second are network/server protocols and tools: Linux is a direct successor of Unix and Unix was meant for networking. This means, internet on Linux works faster and with more functionality.Windows supports FAT, NTFS and that on CD/DVD-s, Linux supports all file systems.To be continued...

@Mulinaster What they say about linux is that it's far more stable and secure, while being able to do all that windows can, sometimes better. And being able to do nearly all of what windows can if you are allergic to command prompts. For example, sometimes it is necessarily to reinstall windows every few months to keep it booting (and sometimes running) speedily. You may also have to defrag the hard drive.

Neither is needed on linux. Stability.

With Linux, I bet I have easy access to more games than you. Downloading them is not stealing either. However, just checked one gaming website and they listed 390 commercial Linux games. I dare/care not to count those in the repositories.

It used to be a hobby of mine to make window$ games work in Linux. As soon as they run.. I got bored and tried another. A program called WineHQ that makes it so easy, I got bored.

Recently, I began using debian, and LET ME TELL ALL THE WINDOWS USERS, its not that hard to use at all! the terminal takes a few days to master, and debian is pretty simple, so any widows user who wants to switch should start there. or not. I have been using linux for a month and a half, and it feels like I have always used it.

After some time Linux came in but it wasnt the best.....bottom line is

@blackviper, this isn't right ... apple has launched the first mouse based graphical OS in the early 80s. Almost every microsoft OS is just a pretty bad copy of apple developments.

Also Mac is a Unix structure based OS, as all Linux derivates are, too. And there are plennty linux distributions in many forms. Your able to do everything on them you wish to.

The only reason for Win-OS ist the strategy MS has used to spread it. And therefore all developers have a common plattform.

Wrongo, Apple did not create the first graphical OS and did not create the mouse.

Both were in use at Xerox and that is what gave the idea for Steve to use it on the Mac's. He bought a license from Xerox to copy the OS.

Xerox could have owned the computer market but the CEO's were too stupid to see that and Steve took their idea and distributed it to the masses.

1) Linux and Mac OS use UNIX for their core. That has existed since the late 1960's long before Windows was even a though in Gates head

2) Xerox created the first graphical OS, they sold a license to Apple to use it on their new Mac's, while PC's were still running DOS. Next came the Amiga OS, then came Windows.

3) Linux is far from crap, it's runs better than Windows ever could or ever will. You can game on Linux it just isn't as easy as double click the exe file.
